I'm so happy about this purchase. Accurate Colors out of the box, blacks get dark, not OLED dark but good enough if you have any ambient light in your room. Dolby Vision looks AMAZING. Some blooming, and you'll want to turn brightness down to around 15-20 for anything but Dolby Vision and maybe turn Gamma down to -1 to level out the brightness with the blacks. But I normally have a dark or semi dark room when watching the TV. Amazing value compared to same size OLED.

Great Picture, Easy Set Up Highly Recommended LED

Extremely easy to set up - open the box, put on the legs (if needed) and plug it in... TV set up also super easy - the step by step guide is great. As many have mentioned the legs are large... but it does leave room for a good sized sound bar (sonos) to sit underneath, so we like the room. We compared to the older model X900F, LG - oled and LED's and many of the samsung TV's. Pricing was higher than some of the lower end LED's and the picture quality of the Sony was much better. 900f vs 950g... the difference was noticable when you put the two next two each other, but we selected the newer version because of the smart tv updates and the better "dark" views on the 950g... but the 900F is a GREAT value if this is not critical for the buyer. When compared to the Samsungs Q60, 70, 80 - this TV in picture quality only reasonably compared to the Q80 and at the time, that TV was a few hundred dollars more. At that point, like choosing wine, it's just a question of taste and all things being pretty equal, we selected the Sony and have not been disappointed. The TV is in an area with a good amount of sunlight in the room - not good for OLED - and the glare is minimal. Multiple viewing modes really help the quality of the picture when going from movies to sports to regular TV. Really love the TV, would definitely recommend this to others!

    Great Upgrade from Plasma!

I’m glad I finally made the leap to 4K since this upgrade is much more noticeable for color and clarity. I picked up the Sony XBR-65X950G at Best Buy store in Hot Springs, AR on Monday “Presidents Day”. Colors were vibrant and even the blacks were plenty dark. Viewing angles were good for a single seat I had at around 45°, but the main seats are directly in front and great at 8’. Sitting and laying on the floor, in front of the sofa, was good as well. The speakers are decent enough to watch regular programming. I also purchased a Sony SoundbarHT-S350. Remote is not backlit but no worries since I use my Logitech universal remote. I went with an LED over OLED because of burn-in reality…I could also buy two for the price of one. I’ve seen it in showrooms from Best Buy to boutique AV stores and believe it’s worse than previous generation technologies. I’ve owned plasma TV and tired of reminding others in my household about leaving games, streaming menus, content pausing and even staying on the same channels with fixed logos etc. This is my second Sony TV and very impressed with it. I’ve been a Samsung and Toshiba TV consumer over many years. If you’ve been on the 4K fence then this is the series to do it with, but you must have the content to feed it. Now back to enjoying the eye candy.

I love this tv. I would say that it’s the best tv I’ve ever owned. That being said this tv also has some problems. There are some weird software issues like for example when using the tv for really long sessions like watching a series in one sitting, or playing a game for long hours, the tv will begin to stutter a lot. Like when going to the home menu the tv will stop producing any sound or if going into a streaming app the video will not load and will stop producing any sound. They way I fix this Is by restarting the tv. This is not something that happens very often but when it does i just restart the tv. I’ve tried resetting the tv but I still get this issue. Now when the issue above is not happening I think this tv is amazing. Picture quality: This tv produces and amazing picture, watching anything in this tv is amazing in my eyes. You doo need to configure some setting is you wish to get inky blacks. But it’s not perfect, in bright rooms this tv performs like a champ. But when it come to dark rooms you will see blooming. There aren’t enough dimming zone to mitigate this. So I would recommend having a setting for dark rooms. I don’t mind much the blooming since my previous tv bloomed like as if the tv was proud of it. Sound quality: The speakers on this tv are quite good in comparison with other tv. I would still pair this with a good home theater. Viewing angles: This tv is using a VA panel typically these panels don't have the best viewing angles. This is true for this tv as you will start to see more blooming and more washed out colors at greater angles. The bigger models 70 and above have something that fixes this but sacrifices the blacks (I don’t know how true this is I’ve never seen this). Again this tv is not perfect but I believe that it will give a really good experience.

I've been a Sony fan for years and in all of my time buying and interacting with their TVs, soundbars, headphones, receivers, walkmans, and anything else under the sun I have always had a quality product and exceptional experience. The 950G is no different. I previously owned the Sony X900F and sold it to a friend and upgraded to the 950G and it was well worth it! The new bluetooth remote is a pleasure to use and the new SOC makes changing settings a breeze compared to my 900F. The X1-Ultimate is no joke, as Sony is always topped out with the best chips in their televisions. Superb highlights and detail. Object based super resolution makes for real eye candy on almost anything you watch. Even 720p cable content looks great! Amazing motion and color reproduction make for the best sports watching experience aswell. This TV for the price is incredible, I truly think they could have charged more for it. I will always reccomend Sony.

I purchased this Sony 65" TV to upgrade from my 3 year old Sony 43" TV. I have been very happy with my "old" Sony but wanted a larger picture. I spent many hours researching TVs before pulling the trigger on this one and when Best Buy came down another $200.00 on Labor Day I decided to go for it. It was easy to unbox and with the help of a friend place it on my entertainment center. It was very easy to set up and the picture was very good out of the box. The picture is very sharp when streaming 4K video and the sound is just OK but I'm using my home theater system for sound so that is not an issue. If I did not have the home theater system I would probably purchase a sound bar. The remote and TV interface is much easier to use than on the older Sony and I like that I can ask a question and get the answer from the TV. I'm still learning all that this TV has to offer but so far am very happy with this purchase.

I bought this versus the higher end OLED model because the picture quality for the price was hard to beat. I have a room to watch movies and sports that fit this 65" tv perfectly. I could have gone with OLED as this is a dark room, but burn in made me think twice. Setup was simple and movies have never looked better.

You can't go wrong purchasing the X950G, especially when it is on sale. It is an incredible TV with a few small flaws. The software is questionable at times. Overall, I don't run into too many issues, but there are problems with audio cutting out on soundbars every now and then, netflix on the built in apps freezing, and audio completely disappearing on built in apps until you restart the TV. There is also quite a bit of blooming with white lettering on a black screen. It is sort of a limitation to the technology though. These are small issues in my opinion. They don't seem to happen very often for me, or effect my viewing experience all too much. I am still extremely happy with the TV. The audio cutting out can be remedied by turning bluetooth off on the remote. Every other issue can be solved by using an outside streaming device such as an Apple TV 4K, or Xbox One X for example. I'm hoping that the issues will be solved on the internal apps with future software updates. The TV, as a whole creates incredible images. Dolby Vision on Netflix is breathtaking. You will have to take the time to dial the TV into your liking in my opinion. It took me a few days to set it up perfectly to my standards. Once it was set up for every input though, you don't have to touch it. Overall I would recommend the TV. It creates some truly stunning images most of the time. The upscaling is great and it is highly customizable to your liking. You certainly can't go wrong purchasing the X950G.

This was a purchase for my birthday. Upgrading from my Samsung 8500MU 55in. The first Sony I picked up had to be returned. They were lines that show the panels, the WiFi didn’t connect to the internet. But even with that the picture quality was great. Took it back to Best Buy in Union NJ, the staff was very helpful. Debated for about a hr and said let me give it a another shot with the same model. I’m very happy that I did. Ok the bad stuff which is not that big of a deal for me because of my room set up. Blooming with a black screen and white lettering. It’s super bright. You don’t notice any of that while there is color on the screen. Great for gaming as well and almost next to nothing input lag on HDMI 1, that’s playing COD on a Xbox one X HDR 4K. Sound quality is good but not great either I prefer using my sound bar anyways. This is a overall good TV and would recommend it to my friends.

Amazing picture quality when streaming Dolby vision through Disney plus. I watched the avengers and was blown away with the natural but vivid colors and the overall brightness it’s capable of reaching. There are times where the sun will shine in a movie and the TV brightens the sun so much that you almost have to squint your eyes which makes it super realistic. The smart features are fast and nicely laid out, Apple air play works good and the imput lag is low which makes it great for gaming. The only things I wish were a little better is the anti glare coating and the amount of zones in the full array backlighting. Overall I think it’s the best TV in its price range and would choose it again.

Awesome picture and Android works great on the updated processor. Nice remote that looks cool and functions great! Netflix looks amazing in 4K on this TV. Get a sound bar, the stock speakers lack sufficient bass. Blacks look black and no light bleed from the corners/sides of tv.

I wanted to upgrade my parents old, dying 50” plasma with something a little bigger. They have problems seeing things, so I went with the 65”. I’ve had several Sony TV’s in the past and really loved them all. This 65” Sony is no exception. It has a beautiful, clear picture. It is mounted in a very well lit room and it still has virtually no glare on it. The colors are bright and vibrant. My parents have never had a smart TV and are still learning how to work the apps, but they do enjoy being able to tell Google to turn the TV on/off. The only thing that could be better are the speakers. They are on the quiet side, but are adequate. We have surround sound if we really want to crank the volume, so it’s not a deal breaker.

Was debating between a 55 or 65 inch tv since my space is limited, and I was afraid a 65 is too overwhelming. After several reviews and going to a store, I am glad I went with this Sony XBR-65X950G tv. The picture is amazing, even with a lower quality input. This XBR-65X950G is an upgrade. The setup is easy and straightforward. It is hooked up to a satellite dish and the up-converted picture looks great. No issues. Also the connection via the eARC to my surround system, produce a fantastic sound and in-synch with the picture. Will definitely recommend this tv.

TV is wonderful, customer service at BB is horrible. We purchased this TV in August 2019, and being stupid, we didn't get the protection plan. On 10/15/19, we lost internet connection on the TV. I researched online how to fix this problem, did everything it said, with no avail. So I called the Geek Squad to see if they could help me, but I had to add a protection plan on the TV first; well you think I asked to speak to the Pope! After being on the phone with 6 different people, going from one department to the next, for over an hour, no one knew how to add a protection plan to a protect so I hung up. I ended up calling Sony, who answered the phone immediately and fixed my problem ..... 10 minutes tops!! Word of advice; call the manufacturer first!! Besides that, the TV is great, picture is beautiful and it's very easy to set up.

I have always bought Sony and did the research before going to this TV. It is early and probably why I left room for improvement so 4 vs 5 stars don't let it make you think less of the TV So far GREAT picture, sports a must, it has not failed on keeping up with the speed of any sporting event. If anything it looks like you are in the front row. Like the transition from sports to shows or movies. The picture softens and doesn't look so bright as other manufacturers. We have the TV in a very open room that you can see from the kitchen, dinning area and family room area. No issues from any angle and we haven't covered the windows in our new place yet. Ease of use, set up, all great for the size of TV you will be surprised how easy to move but use 2 people. My issue, if you are a sound geek, consider a sound bar as is the case with most TV's. and the TV seems to be constantly reconnecting to the internet. Trying to figure if it is AT&T TV or the Sony itself. Resetting the router seems to work but don't want to be resetting as often as necessary if the TV causes it to load with data. Hope that makes sense for this reviewer, So far so good, can't go wrong for the extra money.

This is the first higher end TV I've bought for myself and I am certainly impressed with it. The picture quality is far better than anything I'm used to and has ruined normal TV's for me. The black levels, color, and clarity leave little to be desired. In addition, having the Google store included means I have access to every app I need. I was comparing this to the Samsung Q8F (now Q80) and I don't regret my decision at all. Both have very similar performance in my eyes but I went with the Sony for the lower price and connection to Google (android user). For anyone coming from 1080p or low end 4k sets, this will completely change your viewing experience.

It took me a while to get all the connections they way I wanted with hooking to a receiver, but once that was done, everything with this TV is amazing!! Dark blacks, bright whites, just amazing picture!! Getting the Dobly Vision through my AppleTV 4k leaves no tweaking necessary for that hook up! The standard picture settings are decent, haven't even bothered tweaking them as of yet. So glad I returned the Samsung I had ordered (was a huge headache trying to get set up the way I wanted and picture was messing up after a week!). Paid $1400 on this and was lucky enough to get credited back $200 due to price reduction within the 30 day return window! If you want a high quality TV, I don't think you can go wrong here!!!

Extremely pleased with the purchase of the Sony 65" LED X950G Smart TV. As the name suggest, it is just that, smart! Especially with the added feature of Alexa, you can pretty much control your viewing pleasure, simply by holding the microphone on the remote control to give Alexa commands and navigate the many features available within this 4K television with a seemingly endless variety of apps. The overall picture is stunning, detailed, colorful and very crisp! Sony hit a home run with this product, I'd say the picture is just about perfect and very close to lifelike!!! Awesome TV 2 thumbs up!
