I first bought the visio quantum 65 in which turned out to be ok picture wise but input jacks broke after first use, returned it and purchased this tv and this tv is 1000 times better than the highly rated visio, dont buy anything other than Sony.

Great tv. It’s working fine and had no problems with it. It’s screen view is also good. I love how big the screen is and it’s high definition.

    Good PQ. Poor lighting

The picture quality of this tv is good and the uniformity is superb but that is all overshadowed by the ridiculous amount of blooming. Any bright elements within dark scenes results in serious light bleed and the worst is the light bleed into the black boxes during movies. It's just too distracting to ignore. This tv is a decent choice for bright rooms but if you watch most of your content where you expect high quality in a dark room then you might be disappointed. Debating whether to return it and go back to Vizio and all the problems that come with those sets.

I hadn't bought a new tv for 15 yrs. At that time i bought a Sony and it lasted 15 yrs. I wanted an upgrade and this x950g was a BIG upgrade. Luke at the richfield store sold me on the tech of this tv. He was great, had extensive knowledge of this tv. I felt comfortable spending $2300 just for the tv! I also bought the Magnoila extended warranty. I've had the tv for 7 months and up to a month ago i had no problems. The picture started to jump, almost like skipping. THIS is where the real problems started. I called to get the tv serviced by best buy. 1 week later was looked at. The tech determined the mainboard and a display engine failed. Not happy since the tv is only 7 months old and was not used every day!! Had to order parts from Sony directly, took 2 weeks. Scheduled tv to be repaired but best buy has an 8 HOUR window for appts, ie. 12-8 which you have to be available the full 8 hrs. Long story short, 4 weeks later still not fixed, Tech called me the morning of my appt and said he'd be at my home at 4pm to which i said ok i can be there by then. He then backtracked and said 230. I told him no one would be there at that time. He was very disrespectful saying it's not his problem, scheduling didn't tell him I needed him to come around 5pm like the initial inspector had come. He wouldn't shift around his stops, he refused to come 1.5 hrs later. So did he just go home early since he had 1 less appt? 5 weeks later still not fixed..... So I'm not happy with this whole experience, when the tv get fixed I will sell it and buy something else, NOT from Best Buy. I will NEVER buy anything from Best Buy again....

    Remote sync issues

Remote continually loses sync with TV requiring use of manual buttons. I've purchased several replacements, there seems to be no fix- disappointing, as I like the android interface - but I'll never go Sony again, not at this price level.

    Apps have no sound

The tv has a great picture and is perfect for movies and sports. The issue with this tv is there is no sound when using the built in apps. I have done some research and it is an issue. I bypass this by using Apple TV; but I should not have to do this.

    WARNING

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy this TV and upgrade android firmware 8.0 to android 9.0. The new update dumbs down the performance and puts spyware/adware on your tv. It is called Sambra for Ads. Also new update causes wired ethernet connections to just drop. Due to slow performance apps stutter or buffer. I did not have this issue on 8.0 or have the spyware/adware on it. I contacted sony and there are no plans to fix anything until more people vote with their wallet. No way to revert the firmware either. Also, even if you factory reset and disable sambra at the beginning it is still enabled under system apps. I for one would urge to not update the tv. Now that is done and you haven't updated. everything else from bright colors to awesome sound the tv is great. If the firmware wasnt bad I would recommend this as a buy.

Here we go again. Another crappy quality TV this time from Sony. Purchased in March 2020, today the notorious flashing red light. Called support and all they can do is ask to reset it and see if that works. Oh well, another $1700 down the tube. I think the best deal is to "spend as little as possible" so that your pocket wont feel it as much.

    sound cutting out

I bought this TV in November 2019. First I had problems with the digital audio out (optical) jack. It will not retain the female end of a Toslink cable. I called the customer serves number provided. They troubleshooted it over the phone and determined the jack on the set was defective. I decided to use an auxiliary connection instead of returning the set. ..... Now 2 months later I' now having problems with the sound cutting out. So, my option is to go through the expense and trouble of sending the set to a Sony repair center and going without a television while I wait for the repair or replacement set.... This is not an inexpensive television and I expected more from Sony! I was going to return the set to BestBuy after continuing software issues but my wife talked me out of it because of the holiday chaos. Now the sound cutting out, I wish I had. This is the worst Sony product buy far that I ever purchased!!! NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

    Very mad

Very unhappy with this tv, since I got the tv 6 month ago and has been one thing after the other, first it was narrating everything we couldn’t figure out how to get it out we tried and tried with no success, finally had to call customer service at Sony which is daunting, they fixed it . But another Thing came out the voice does not sinc with the picture, after going to Best Buy 3 times calling Sony several times my issue is not resolved and of course I don’t have extra coverage from Best Buy (which costs an arm and a leg) they refuse to help me of course now I’m unable to exchange the tv becuase it’s not within the 15 days I purchased it. Buyers beware! Don’t buy this tv. It’s been nothing but a headache and not to mention the picture is not all that either. To expensive of a tv for all of this. Never had I so many problems with a brand new tv like this tv. Sincerely very mad

Went to by a Samsung and was swayed over to Sony by BB salesman who said they have they best processor. Should have listened to my first instinct. Screen froze and then went black. Called Sony as it is under warranty. Did some trouble shooting trying to reboot solved nothing. Took pictures and emailed them and now waiting on Sony to determine a fix. Would not recommend this tv at this time. Still giving Sony a chance to fix the issue and will update. I still have my Panasonic 15 year old 50 inch plasma I will drag out for the football game this weekend.

This review is not the greatest but the picture on this tv sucks. There is no way your tv should be fuzzy at this price point with a Sony. Best Buy told me I have to pay to have geek squad come out and calibrate my tv for best results. I am planning to take it back for a Samsung Q70 or Q80. This tv is very overrated unless I am missing something

Bought this TV 17 months ago. Worked fine until last week, the screen went black and the indicator light flashes red. A service man says $1300 to repair, cost $2600 new, Do not buy Sony, they should recall these but they wont. Junk!
