This Was A Christmas Gift To Us From Us. Love The Quality Of Sound That This Setup Puts Out. Would’ve Given A Five Star Rating, But For Some Reason When I Want To Watch A Certain Movie Or Even On A Different Movie Platform Sound Doesn’t Come Out! For The Most Part We Love It!

This 7.1 Sony sound bar is amazing. If your looking for theater sound and quality it is a pick for you. It’s loud and can show a floor no problem. The sound is clear amazing for 4K, oled, really doesn’t matter what it is. It will blow you away in a big or small room you don’t have a problem with loosing sound even 40ft away the thing is amazing blows my mind and has every expectation possible.

Very good sound bar if you can get it on sale. It has good base, full sound and eARC. But, Atmos effects are lackluster and it has no rear speakers. $1,500 is too much for this soundbar but if you can get it for closer to $1,000 it is a good buy.

Not worth it. Returning on 7/6

Bought on 7/4. Now returning on 7/6. NOT Worth the Price. NOT Worth the effort to even try it. I bought a Sony 65” TV (X900H) On 6/28 and thought of adding a matching Sony Line of sound bar. Sounds good right? Did a research and bought this HTS5000 model with 7.12 channel support irrespective of negative reviews. Was very excited when I left the Best Buy store after the purchase. The setup was ok. Nothing to complain. Worked OK for few times. The Sound was Great ! No doubt. However there was nothin* that will validate the 7.12 channel support and Dolby ATMOS. I had watch videos where i knew the sounds that were even heard woth m6 old Sony home theatre system, are now gone. I was not able to hear those sounds. So minus 2 stars right there. My testing was still on. And now more of the problems cropped up. Every time, I turn on the TV and / or switch from a smart tv programming app to my regular tv programming (Verizon Fios TV), this Sony HTS5000 sound bar wont connect and the TV display never shows up. I try going going back to streaming apps and other smart tv options like youtube, disney plus etc and they work like charm. No issues whatsoever. So my TV is good no issues with it. I then disconnected the sound bar and tuned into my Fios TV programming and it was working absolutely as normal as I can imagine. Now it is oblivious the culprit was the sound bar. I am in disbelief that “ two new Sony Products” behave this differently. Somehow this sound bar has some compatibility issues with Cable TV box it seems at least in my case and may well be with Verizon Fios TV. This is my opinion. Hence Ai am giving it all up. Returning tomorrow 7/6 the end of Sony HTS5000 sound bar for me. SORRY SONY!, you deserve better but I cant help. Please make sure you test this from all angles before you decide to keep it.

      Hi VNauduri,

We appreciate you like the sound quality of our ST5000 Soundbar. We're so sorry for the bad experience you encountered. To check if your device is playing in DOLBY ATMOS format, you can just simply press the Display button on the remote control. DOLBY ATMOS will appear on your TV screen. Please see this link for detailed information https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/home-theater-sound-bars-home-theater-systems/ht-st5000/articles/00194870.

We’d also recommend that you setup the soundbar and its listening distances to help make the Atmos experience more immersive for you. Please see this video for steps : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzNme2hjcFc Not only can you setup the listening distances and ceiling height for the Atmos channels, you can also adjust the gain of the channels to help fill out your room better. Each channel has up to 6 dB of gain.

If you are losing resolution of your screen, please ensure that all HDMI cables being used are rated for 18 Gbps speeds or higher. If they are rated less, you may experience picture and audio drop outs.

For connection between the TV and soundbar, some of this issue can be fixed by resetting the BRAVIA Sync function between the TV and the soundbar. You will need to go into the menu of the TV and get to the BRAVIA Sync settings. Clear out any devices paired and turn the feature off. Then, disconnect the HDMI cable between the soundbar and TV from both products. Unplug both the TV and soundbar from the power outlet for 1 minute and plug them back in. Reconnect the HDMI cable between the products and enable BRAVIA Sync. You should have audio connections re-established. Please also ensure that all products are on the latest firmware versions. We hope you will reconsider returning the product before trying out these steps.

We will have this opportunity noted for the improvements to our product.

      Sincerely,

      Romeo Sony_US

Sound quality is fantastic. I don’t know if it’s my hearing but I do not hear sound affects coming from the rear or from the top. I do not get that fully immerse experience as I hoped for. If you push the system you can truly rock your walls

Very disappointing for the price! The surround sound was good but the volume was not loud enough to fill a big room. For that price I shouldn’t have any doubts about keeping the sound system so I returned it for the Samsung Q90 and wow not only did I save money but you can’t even turn it up half way! I’m so over Sony products

I did too much research for weeks, read and was watched all text and video reviews of all the best sound bars available. I was willing for the $2500 Sennheiser Ambio, but it didn’t fit on my console and for my low clearance Samsung TV. Got this only for $1200 in sale and saved 5% on Best Buy card. The best day, the price was back up to $1500! The sound quality was stunning, and i saved $1300 compared to the Sennheiser Ambio!

Ok, let’s start with its really nice because of the features it has. Loudness is loud except that it only sounds bad a** if you’re in the room in front of it. I only use it to play music throughout the house yet I have to say, I only got a new one bc my Samsung bar and subwoofer has recently been stopping but we did have it for Years, around 5 ? And it’s just a tad better than Samsung but we paid less than 500 for it , maybe around 350 or so and for this to be that much??? You’d think it would sound with top bass through the other rooms but it doesn’t which surprises me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, especially if you play songs with bass, the sound bar will shake but that’s only special songs. I was a Tad disappointed, just saying. But it’s good it’s good. I’m just a person that loves that bass on every song.

First set up was easy and done in a few minutes. The 4K pass works great. the Dolby Atmos sound is WOW great. At 50% level it will rock the whole house. The DTS TruSurround, Dolby Digital Plus and 3D surround mode also sound good. I also like the fact that it works with Google Home. Even music apps sound good. Very happy with purchase. I do have it hooked up to a Sony X900F & UBP-X700

I listened to a demo at my local Best Buy and was blown away! So much so that I ditched the old 5.1 system and got ride of all those wires. The subwoofer is a BEAST! When connected right and watching blu-ray movies this thing is amazing! Yes it’ll never be better than a truly independent sound system. But if you’re looking to simplify your room without the octopus wires and cables than this might be for you. One thing to note as if this review it still doesn’t support DTS-X audio. I’ve read many websites stating Sony plan to support this via firmware.

Great sound bar. We didn’t want rear speakers due to our room design, so this sound bar fit that bill. Atmos is a little under performing, and the subwoofer has signal drop out due to WiFi band interference, but only when WiFi is under heavy load. Overall would purchase again.

I purchased this to replace my 5 piece surround sound system due to no time to run wires, So I listen to the different sound bar setups at Best Buy I picked this one over the Bose 500 due to the volume and the Dolby Atmos. Once setup this bar and sub sound great! Only thing I wish would get done is the addition of rear wireless speakers. Sound does come from behind being bounced off of the ceiling I just think rear speakers would make it even better.
