Thank for your honest feedback! You can adjust the gain in the setup menu. In the home menu go to setup>Speaker Settings>Level and you can set the level for your front speakers, Height speakers and subwoofer. You may also want to set the distance to ensure the best quality. However, 3 years after the date of purchase it stopped working. It would transmit sound but it would takes a very long time to power up, shut down, and I could not access the menus. I tried to update the firmware but was unsuccessful. Best Buy couldn't help because I didn't buy the extended warranty. So, at 3 years of service for $1,100 (on sale) this has been the electronic device with the worst life-for-cost that I've ever owned.

While we are pleased you are satisfied with the outstanding sound quality of our HT-ST5000 7.1.2ch Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar- especially when paired with our Sony TV, we are so sorry you are encountering issues after three years of use. This is usually not the case and the experience we wanted you to have on our premium soundbar.
Some of these issues can be fixed by resetting the system to factory default- this will refresh the content of the soundbar and should make it operate properly. If you haven't tried yet, please follow the steps provided on the link below:

It is a large unit but sound is amazing especially in a 20x20 room. Really gives you the full surround feel without having back speakers, how they make this happen is beyond me but worth it. It will not replace a full sound system but is the closest for mimicking that experience.

The virtual surround still cannot replace dedicated rear speakers, but comes close. Outdated user interface, had the same on a much older soundbar from Sony.

So close to Amazing...

I can't believe that the cheaper sound bars have rears available and this top of the line ES unit does not! It's sounds unbelievable, great clarity, volume, powerful sub, looks great, etc. But in no way, shape, or form, even with the Atmos speakers, does it create any type of surround sound. My living room is not set up for clunky receivers and large speakers. I have that setup in the basement man cave. If they would sell Bluetooth rears for this, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. (Bonus if they had Atmos speakers pointed out the top of said rears too) Are you listening Sony? There is hundreds of reviews online with the same complaints... Produce a matching rear set and a firmware update. Get this done!
