Sony 7.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Soundbar is awesome!

The soundbar remote has separate volume controls for the main audio and the subwoofer which is awesome if you switch back and forth from TV shows to movies.

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound for movies from BluRay source quite impressive, but from TV programming (whether via cable or streaming) sound is more mediocre. This was not a good selection for music so we did not get the hoped for benefit of one device for all sources. Rating is so low primarily because the unit just decides to stop producing sound periodically or starts crackling/popping that is so annoying that the unit cannot be used. Both of these are cured by turning unit off then back on (so far at least) but it is quite annoying to have to cycle on/off during a show, movie or game.

We glad that you like the sound quality when using the soundbar for Blu-ray movies. It's unfortunate that you are not having the same experience with other sources and also experienced crackling issues. Make sure to install the latest software version of the soundbar for optimum performance:

You can improve the sound quality of the soundbar by using the sound effects function on the unit's settings. Please refer to pages 30-31 of this link for more information:

In case you encounter the crackling noise again, reset the unit to factory settings:
-Press and hold (power) and – on the main unit for more than 5 seconds. The settings return to their initial status.
Note: By resetting, the link with the subwoofer may be lost. In this case, perform “Performing the Wireless Connection of the Subwoofer (SECURE LINK)" on page 47 of the manual.

Honestly easy hookup and clean user interface. HDMI ARC works like a charm. Strong bass, plenty loud. Has all Dolby and DTS decoding. I used to work at DTS, SO TAKE MY WORD, THIS PRODUCT RULES.

It was a little confusing to set up at first because my computer is the delivery system for everything and i had to get to recognize the tv and the soundbar as dual monitors, but after that, its AWESOME. Gaming, movies, what have you. All crisp, all amazing.

Best Sound Bar Ever!

Was skeptical it would satisfy my audiophile ear, and it has with shinning STARS! It fills our great room with sound for movies and music listening. The only thing I can say against it is it is not iTunes ready, but can connect my Apple devices via Bluetooth. Love Sony TV, no love the Sony Soundbar!

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It’s alright not as good as hoped From someone switching to sound bar from conventional wired home theater set up, I’m a little hard to please, I think it’s just the lack of rear sound that you miss with the bar vs say Sanos or JBL and def Klipsch set up…. The Audio is good and clear you can tell that it’s just trying to “simulate” to hard vs having their rear wireless speakers available for this bar like 3.1 set up. I think, had they come with or allowed those who have had true surround a rear speaker set it would fix the issue. Bought it with a new A80j and made for a flawless install, but the soundbar and tv don’t sync volume wise,

Surround sound system would be better

Says it simulates surround but it really doesn’t. High priced due to Sony brand name not worth the extra cost. Additionally there are some problems with it connecting when powered on. I shouldn’t have to be brought to the home screen to select an input when the input is ARC and doesn’t change whether I view Dish, Apple TV, or Blu-ray player. I don’t hate this product just wish I took more time to consider other options

With Dolby Atmos and an ARC connection paired with the TV, this SONY soundbar was impressive; total satisfaction with this purchase.

We can also use the pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources. Please check page 30 of the manual:

You can also adjust the listening distances and ceiling height in the onscreen Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the soundbar to help custom tailor the soundbar to your set up. The gain level of the front and height channels, along with the subwoofer can also be adjusted an additional +/- 6dB too.

The sub could have been a little better. It seems to have a popping sound (very rarely) but that may be due to the wireless aspect.

Wireless subwoofer = less cords mess. Surround sound is amazing. Would have given 5 stars but the sound occasionally cuts out. Ut returns after a few seconds.

I have it synced with my 75" Sony 4K TV and my Sony BlueRay player. Even with the volume under 50% I feel like I'm in a theatre. This Soundbar completely fills the room and makes you feel like you're there.
