Okay sound bar for expensive price

For the price, I would say it was not worth it. There are other better alternatives out there that are cheaper. On the bright side, it looks great. Not saying the sound bar is bad, it’s just okay.

Unfortunately lack of rear speaker is greatest demise of this sound bar and because of that reason I won't recommend it at this price point.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Backstory: my old sound bar: Klipsch R20b 8yr old, sounds great but we got tired of the sound intermittently not working with the new tv and having to go through and reprogram the settings every time it dropped off. It used an optical output from the TV. I went to Best Buy to get the new Klipsch Cinema 600 but they didn't have it and I saw this Sony 7.1.2 open box unit at half off so I bought it. Thinking I got a great deal I brought it home, hooked it up, and went through all the settings for my room. Started with some music and was really unimpressed/disappointed. Went through the different sound effects but they didn't make it sound better just different spatial effects. My previous sound bar had much better sound, this sound bar did have better spatial effects but sounded muddy at all areas compared to my older Klipsch R20b. The base was very boomy meaning it vibrated the room a lot, so I turned that down, But after turning that down it had no real sound to it. So turned it up a little more and tolerated the room vibrations. Then we watched a move with it later on and again very boomy/vibrating base but no fidelity to it. Not dynamic and hard hitting like the previous Klipsch. This Sony has an oval 6x8 woofer the Klipsch has a 10" woofer, no comparison. So the next day I ordered the Klipsch Cinema 600 and found the surround sound speakers as open box at half off. So for a total price of was still $100 less than this Sony system. A week later it arrives and after the install I wasn't disappointed. The Klipsch Cinema 6000 5.1 system was much better on all accounts: clear lows, harder hitting, better dynamics, better spatial effects since it has actual rear speakers, better sound quality in lows, mids, and highs. The only plus I can find is build quality, I like the metal surfaces, the weight, and fit/finish are all good. Don't waste your money on this Sony system.

We regret to hear that the unit was already returned because it didn't live up to standards. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Aside from the built-in sound settings, having the latest software version installed will give the soundbar its best performance. Not sure worth the money

The sub also started crackling on some marvel fight scenes at a mid range sub level, so getting it looked at.

I got rid of this one from frustration and went with a Bose and couldn't be happier.
