If you respect the unit, understand the environment it is in, it will do wonders for you. Any negative reviews are users who pushed the unit too far. If you understand all the internal settings in conjunction with other Sony products it is amazing unit for what it is. There have been several times with that Atomos that I think it’s something outside I am hearing. Overall, it does a good job of simulating overhead sound while providing a robust bass. Again, this is all contingent on the bitrate of the media you are playing as well. Overall, I am pleased.

Great Sound. Much better than I expected. I found out that it will NOT connect with rear speakers as I was told. It still a gives a dynamic surround sound effect.

I actually picked this sound bar with woofer before I found the tv. The sound was amazing. It was a airplane taking off and it sounded like the plane was actually above you. Definitely recommend

I have had this sounder for almost a month now. I have it set up in my bedroom (about 15'X15') Set up is easy. Everything plugs into the soundbar itself and then you hook the bar to your tvs arc HDMI. right out of the box, the sound field is set to standard.. DO NOT USE THIS SETTING. Standard sound field is terribly muddy and muffled. I don't know why they even have it as an option, to be honest. the 3d sound field or movie are the best two options. The sound really opens up on these two. Atmos effects - They are there, but they are very subtle. you won't hear the sounds coming from behind you very loudly but the bar does a nice job of filling the room. Bass is superb. all audio on the 3d or movie sound field is super crisp and clean, also. Blade Runner 2049 was the best Atmos mix I have tried so far.. Unreal! This thing gets LOUD. Overall, I am very pleased with this sounder. One thing that would make this an absolute beast would be the support of rear satellite speakers. (crossing fingers) They also released an update for it to support dtx now, too. would recommend this to someone who doesn't have a lot of budget or room for a receiver/speaker set up.

I purchased this soundbar after being seriously agrivated with the bose 700 soundbar. Had some syncing issues with the rear 700 surrounds i purchased and the 300s. Great soundbar but it was missing something without surround. I took a chance on Sony seeing how i already had a Sony Bravia oled, ps4pro and sony 4k player. I was surprised to find that this soundbar is almost like a reciever with a sound the bose was missing. I sort of new to audio terminology but i assume that atmos had a lot to do with this. I dont need surround sound speakers really but some would have been nice to add. Only downside but this is a must buy in my book!

It has great sound. Like that you can control the volume of the sub separately. The only thing I wish is that you could change the default from TV to an HDMI when it starts.

So the sound stage of this actually sounds pretty good on this soundbar and the sub is good as well but for this price you should get a soundbar with rear speakers In the box like vizio or jbl and save some $$ in the process

I love the sound from this sound bar. Besides TV I listen to a lot of music and this unit does not disappoint. It has clear response across all frequencies and the The DSEE HX feature is fantastic in up scaling down loaded music or cd quality music to a very high quality sound. As with all SONY devices the controls seem a bit complicated at first bu make a lot of sense after a few days and the options are great for different listening experiences. If I where to design a sound bar this would be it.

I don't watch movies much but I do watch sports and the news on TV. Also, I have some high frequency hearing loss. As a result, when I watch TV I'm often turning up the volume ... sometimes 50-80% higher than others (without hearing loss) are comfortable with. The subwoofer makes sporting events much more vibrant and I can tune it so the announcers voices are distinguishable from crowd noise. When watching the news I can more easily understand the voice dialogue of females (high frequency voices) at a much lower volume than before. Very glad I bought it.

For me It's the best sounding soundbar I heard so far. The sound is bright and balanced with the high end tweeters and sub woofer, not muddied at all. Watching movies really liven up the experience and listening to music jazz vocals was a delight and it got me sold when I asked the best buy employee to cast a Diana Krall sample. Unfortunately I had to return it because it stopped working. No sound coming from the speakers. Lol I'm tried listening to the other sound bars for an exchange but they do not sound as good as the sonys. No clarity, no brightness. I'll just wait when they come out with another improved model.

I would say it’s a bit expensive but overall it sounds great. Won’t give you the true surround sound feel but it does sound great.

I love the sound bar Dolby Atmos without all the extra speakers. Sounds very good from just one bar. Very convincing.

I am really enjoying this sound bar. I have had a 7 speaker surround sound system for years and wanted to get rid of all the cards ect.. this system is very good and has great sound
