Overall pretty good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture. The software is a work in progress. Sometimes the remote is slow. Often apps like pbs freeze and I have to use my apply tv instead. The remote is a little finicky and hard to hit the sensor as the Sony soundbar gets in the way. I shouldn't have those problems with a tv of this price and caliber.

Crystal clear picture with excellent color
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have taken this new TV through its paces for two months and very pleased with its picture, color, and clarity. The user menus are fairly intuitive as I am sixty years old and not super tech savvy. Once I got used to them not so bad. Many of the settings are foreign to me and could be better explained in the CD that comes with the TV. The average person will need the Geek Squad to set it up and maximize its capability. I have tried to do it alone and have had pretty good success but I know there is more it can do which I am not familiar with. Have been networking with twenty-somethings to bridge the gap! TV technology sure has changed!

never dreamed a 75" picture would look so great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With TV's today you will probably be watching, a 1930's movie on a non HD channel, a "50 / "60 movie in a better format, a newer movie on an HD channel, a regular DVD, or a Blue-ray DVD. Don't expect all of these to look the same. They all look good but older films will occasionally show some flaws. The newer films in HD and the Blue-ray DVD's are a knock out! As I sit here looking at Netflix HD movies, Verizon HD content, and occasionally a BR DVD it is awesome. The built in speakers do a good job reflecting off the back wall. There are no 3D glasses, there isn't a camera, the instruction manual that comes with the set is just enough to get set up, there is a built in wireless internet connection which downloads up-grades about every two weeks, both remotes work great but I do not use the touch pad remote very much. The 75" set is in a great size that you become very comfortable with after about 30 minutes of use. Great TV. I would do it again.

So far very impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this XBR75X850C during the Thanksgiving Sale. I was split between the JS8500 65" & this Sony 850C in 65" & we decided that since we are upgrading from a 60" why not just upgrade to the 75" 850C. My previous 60" was Sony Bravia as well & I am glad we stuck the Sony brand. They produce very good quality TV's & you can't go wrong with them. 1 of the things that I noticed with the Sony's TV's is how natural looking their picture quality is. Samsung just becomes too bright in some cases & I like the picture quality in the natural state as it should be. Tried some 4K content from Netflix & it was very impressive. We watched The Incredible 6 on 4k & it was awesome...upscaling to 4k is pretty cool as well. Android TV is alright...there have been some firmware updates since I got the TV & the Android TV has got better. Youtube app & Netflix works like a charm. Voice search is very good. I upgraded from a PS3 to PS4 & got a new Pioneer VSX-90 A/V Receiver to pair with these with a 7.2 surround system. Watching blu ray movies is awesome on this TV with the 7.2 surround system. Very happy with this purchase...Thanks Sony...just 1 negetive feedback..in future please provide at least 1 pair of 3D glasses with the 3d TV's. Your loyal customers deserve it.

Great hardware, mediocre software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No matter how you slice it, a 75" 4K tv is pretty awesome! If you visit RTings.com you'll find plenty of technical specs so I won't repeat those here. Suffice to say that I would rate the hardware 5 stars -- evenness of the backlighting, color saturation, clarity, and the big one for us, viewing angle. It was the last one that clinched it for us as our family room arrangement (and tv watching habits) required a viewing angle of at least 30º and most LED tvs are in the 15-20º range. This one is 176º! Software is the downside in this product. It's the same firmware for all XBR tvs (or so I understand) and it appears that Android and/or the Sony applications running on it are not ready for prime time. I've had the software lock up such that the tv had to unplugged from the wall for 30 seconds before the tv would reset and could be used again. I've had situations where attempting to use the Settings app causes a gray screen that never becomes the app, forcing a pull-plug-from-the-wall reset. I've had an app that seemed like it was going to load but instead froze for 4-5 seconds before initiating a cold reset on the machine. (I'm running v3.043 of firmware, the latest as of Feb 2016. Also be aware that there's no way to go back to older firmware! I strongly suggest going to Sony's web site and downloading the current firmware for storage on a flash drive so that if your tv updates and it gets worse, you can go back to the previous version. There are stories on AVSforum.com about people upgrading only for the issues to become worse. I should note that the 3D support in the v3.043 firmware seems to be stable; others reported that the previous firmware failed to stay in 3D mode.) I give the tv 5 stars for hardware and 3 stars for software. I have my home entertainment equipment plugged into a UPS in such a way that unplugging the tv from the outlet isn't *too* much of a problem, but until Google/Sony/whoever gets their act together, be aware that this tv has "issues". I had to select "No" for recommending to a friend for this reason.

Great high end TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paid a little more for a Sony but had problems in past with Samsung so went to Sony for reliability. Fabulous TV, easy to navigate and picture is stunning. Had Geek Squad do the install which was also flawless. My biggest TV expenditure ever but worth it at this point and expect this to be on wall for years.

Excellent picture quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV replaces an 8 year old Mitsubishi 73'' , so the improvement in picture quality is particularly noticeable. I had considered the Samsung UN75JU7100, as I have been preferring Samsung over Sony where 1080p resolution TV's are concerned and have had excellent experiences with Samsung. However, in this case the promotion available favored the Sony XBR75X850C, as it was about $1,000 less than the Samsung model noted and I could not find sufficient advantage in the Samsung to justify this price difference. The picture quality of the Sony is simply excellent and although the Samsung is supposedly known for a particularly vibrant picture quality relative to the more natural color of the Sony, the Sony calibration out of the box seemed to result in a picture quality which appeared as vibrant as the Samsung to me. For those who may be interested, there are some suggested customized calibrations at www.rtings.com for this TV, though I find the calibrations to be very much a matter of personal taste and was happy using most of the factory default settings, with the exception of the sharpness which I prefer at the more elevated settings. The setup process was straightforward and I experienced no difficulties. The TV is being used in conjunction with an Onkyo 7.2 Receiver and with both satellite (DirecTv) and cable (Comcast). I reprogrammed a Harmony Touch remote purchased from Best Buy some years ago to allow for the TV substitution, and had no problems with this either as it too worked perfectly with the new Sony. Hope this helps!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While i know my experience is not the same as others. This is a great tv. Great TV despite the many critical remarks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my new 75" Sony for about a month. It was delivered so no issues with space in transportation. The guys dropping off the unit were timely and placed it into its appropriate place in a matter of minutes. I set the TV up with my directv service provider and was looking at the beautiful image in no time at all. Some reviews of this set have people complaining about how the TV only worked for a few hours and then quit or the picture was all snowy or wasn't clear. This is probably largely due to their choice of service provider or the hdmi cables that were being used. My cables were maybe $25 and they work great. Giving a bad review to a Sony because of your failure to contact Best Buy for help displays your ignorance or lack of trust. The TV has proven to be a great purchase and one I won't regret. I was strictly a Sony guy for years but bought a 50" Samsung about 2 years prior. The TV provides a great picture that I am very happy with so I was a little hesitant to return to Sony but I did and I'm glad I did. Samsung gets better overall reviews for the same size TV (75") but the negative remarks in those reviews on Sony was weak. If in doubt, go with the Sony. You won't regret it.

Great Picture and Motion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Picture and Motion. This Smart TV offers a lot. (Quality picture, motion, smart tools and 4K ability) We watch a lot of action movies and sports, so motion is important. Have not seen any skipping at all.

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were very disappointed with a 75" Samsung because of the refresh rate. We are not disappointed anymore. This new TV has a much faster refresh rate and solved our problem of motion blur. No problems with this 75" Sony. Great picture and great quality.

Excellent tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are thrilled with this TV. The picture is sharp, the sound is clear, the controls are easy to learn and use. The only challenge is a tendency for the TV to want to self-select an HDMI input (which is not connected to anything, thus necessitating an extra step to set the correct input), but this may be operator error or a setting we have not fully identified and managed yet. This TV is excellent.

Great picture, and truly a smart TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was deciding between this and Samsung's 75" JU7100. The 850C offers the best bang for the buck. This TV is competing with Samsung's 75" JU7100, which is $800 more as of today. You get the Triluminos display which gets you 30% more color (Samsung calls it quantum-dot, or SUHD, and it's not included in their JU7100 model). Accurate colors throughout the panel. Unlike Samsung's which are over-saturated and almost fake-looking, Sony TVs are like you're looking out through the window of you're home. Upscaling is great for when you watch 1080P content. For 2015, they ditched their own smart TV software and now have Android TV built in. Great number of apps, Chromecast, Google Now with voice search, all built-in and compatible with Android and iOS devices. Other note: Doesn't include 3D glasses in the box. I recommend getting the TV calibrated to get the best picture quality based on the lighting in your room (after 100 hours of watching so that it's broken in).

Best Buy of 4K TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thoroughly researched the top 4K TV's in the market, reviewing technical specs and ratings- customers and industry. I was going to purchase the LG 70" unit but found another rating sheet that had the Sony well above the LG in Sports & Movies - which were the two main reasons for my purchase. After a month, I am convinced I made the right choice, especially buying from Best Buy where the commitment of the Sales team could not have been better! They continue to impress with their dedication to my on-going satisfaction. WARNING: Sony Service has proven to be useless! Again, Best Buy stepped up, so would not recommend buying from anyone else!

Awesome family room TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this TV for a few weeks now, but I'm very impressed so far. The picture quality is excellent. It's fantastic for watching sports and movies alike. I cant wait for more UHD content to become available to really showcase what this TV can do. I would definitely recommend this TV for someone looking for great quality at a reasonable price.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Samsung UHD65JS8500 and the Sony 65X850C before purchasing the 75X850C. I have had no difficulty connecting and watching NETFLIX. The picture is sharp and there is no blur watching football. I love this TV.

This is my fourth XBR and I couldn't be happier!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible picture, color and features. In this size, a 1080p is not the way to go. The 75 inch picture in 4K, is perfect. I don't know how or what can be the next level of technology to advance 4K picture. Maybe motion technology will be the next big step but this XBR even has a remote key for watching "football". Seems to work very well. We will see how it all looks come this Super Bowl Sunday.

Great TV for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally pulled the trigger to get 75 inch screen. Sony had the best pic and and Best Buy had it in stock to take home right then. Hooked it up when I got home and could not be happier. My room is 20x20 to we sit 17 feet away from screen. Small issue with automatic transition from 4k to 1080 but may be my reciever. Working that through. Very happy so far!
