Expensive large TV from Sony. Lasted 3 years. Repair cost appears to be about half or more of the cost of a new one. Very disappointed in reliability. Not sure I can buy a Sony TV ever again after reading from others who've had a similar issue. Sad.

Got my tv from best buy in Annapolis couple weeks ago now. I was trading up from a 70" sharp aquos that I've had for about 4 years that worked perfectly. First the good... The picture on this TV is stunning, anyone that tells you that if your within 8 feet or so you won't tell a difference is just wrong. For starters the dish content was never a great picture, the upscaling does bring it to a more true Blu-ray quality. Now for 4k, I upgraded my Netflix for 4k as well as had to up my internet speed from 8megs to 30, I was able to use my verizon galaxy note 4 as a hotspot which worked great also until I got a phone call, as I was still on unlimited and was burning about 3 gigs every 15 minutes, anyway, the 4k on Netflix and you tube were insane, pictures were incredibly clear, beyond life like, and I just never realized some of the colors I was missing, a lot of the pastel like colors, greens and purples just really pop like they never have before, really impressive, and have no regrets at all about tv so far. Now the reason for 4 stars, the upper left quadrant of the screen when the screen goes black, there's some bright spots, not sure if its what's referred to as bleed thru, but it's obvious when watching movies like gravity. Lastly is not really an issue with the tv, it's an issue with sony and/or best buy. This tv does not come with 3d glasses. Not only does it not come with 3d glasses, best buy does not carry them in store. Not only does it not carry them in store, there's really nothing that tells you which ones I need to buy. You'd think under the accessories on sony or best buy site, they would be listed there, they're not. The first place I found that spells out a model number actually had a Samsung pair, which best buy does carry and sure enough, they worked. So yes, Samsung glasses do work with my sony tv despite sony's website telling you that you need authentic sony glasses and doesn't tell you which ones you need. So other than that, I love this tv, and have no regrets and would very much recommend to a friend.

Bought this in 2016. Not used a ton since it is in a theatre room. It is now dead. Turns on and then immediately shuts off. It's now toast and no good. Thought it would last longer.

I went to buy a TV. I was asked to upgrade my receiver because my old receiver did not support ARC. I was sold the Geek Squad service to install the whole thing. After installation I was told the ARC won't work. I need to run another cat 5 through the walls. Though there was another cat 5 already available they would not install. When I went back to store, I was again told ARC should work and they will send Geek Squad again and someone will call again. It has been weeks no one showed up or called. Same message when I called. Worst experience.

    Fantastic Quality TV When Working

We purchased the Sony XBR75X850C TV and Denon AVRX3200 receiver in early September. The system was setup and installed by the Best Buy's Geek Squad on September 15. We were pleased with the fantastic color and support of the Geek Squad during setup. On the Geek Squad's recommendation, I purchased two Klipsch R-26F to add the other Klipsch speakers (four bookcase for surround sound, center, and subwoofer# and two sets of AudioQuest HDMI cables. By September 17, we started experiencing problems. With no warning, the screen goes black #volume still on) and the Sony emblem on the bottom of the TV is flashing red. The Geek Squad was notified and changed some settings on the TV and receiver. Problem solved, right; no wrong. I few days later after the TV was on for several hours, the screen went black again with volume still on. The Geek Squad was notified and suspected the Denon receiver. The receiver was replaced out and the Geek Squad did a redo and seemed to solve the problem. Problem solved; wrong again. The black screen reappeared, the Geek Squad was contacted, and now thinking to replace the TV. We are getting very concerned because we are reaching our 30-day period to replace the TV out. Next week we have a service call to replace the TV. We will keep you posted. I would recommend this TV to a friend with a warning to test it out to make sure it working like you want it. The Geek Squad are a fantastic group to work with. I only hope they are able to solve the "black screen" problem.

A pleasant surprise - But remote still a question

We initially got a 65 inch Sony TV during Black Friday sale. It was good. With some effort we got the 3d also to work with acceptable picture quality, and watched the movie Avatar. Being loyal sony fans, and trusting sony quality, we did not know at the time that this probably was something that needed worrying . We did like the TV generally (except the 3d part) and decided to upgrade it to 75 inches. When the 75 inch tv was delivered, yesterday,Christmas eve, we were very pleasantly surprised that the 3d movie "Avatar" and "Finding Nemo" played effortlessly with the best picture quality and graphics as ever (do not know the technical reason why). We are already in love with this 75 inch tv but now find that the remote that came with the new tv, its center selection button, "enter" is not working. We have to click this button several times to get a result. Today is Christmas, bestbuy is closed. Will go on Saturday and ask them how to handle this remote situation.

Best 75" screen for the price

I compared this to several Samsung and Vizio offerings. The picture was much better than the Vizio M series. It made the Vizio appear washed-out. The Vizio also did a poor job of upscaling HD and lower-resolution content. The Samsungs did much worse in the motion category, as the slightest bit of smoothing introduced the soap opera effect. Colors on the Samsungs were vivid, but the picture was worse overall, giving a general fakeness to the scenes and crushing details in the dark scenes. The fact that the Sony cost less than the Samsungs was an added bonus.

    Much Better than the XBR70850B

I originally purchased the XBR70850B, and the TV is nice but needed a lot of calibration and didn't excite me. Felt like I had the wrong TV the entire time. I took it back and got the XBR75850C and what a huge difference. Right out of the box the picture is just about perfect with no calibration needed. It's only 5 inches bigger but looks like it's much bigger than that while mounted on the wall. Definitely worth the extra costs in my opinion. It has a faster processor and is an Android TV which syncs with my google account. Basically it's like I have a 75 inch smart phone on my wall, that has 4K TV. The only thing that I am disappointed about is the TV doesn't have a Gig Ethernet connection, (which I don't think any TV on the market has) so streaming HD / Blu Ray / 4K content to the TV from home media servers don't work with the wireless or 100 MB Ethernet connection. Luckily the PS4 now has it's media server back and allows a Gig Ethernet connection so I can still use it as my media server for HD content to play on the TV.

I am extremely pleased with the Sony. I had originally considered both Sharp and Samsung but the Sony won out because of its upscaling engine. Given that 4K content will not be ubiquitous anytime soon most of what I watch requires upscaling for such a large display. Upscaled 720i content on this television is very watchable. Upscaled 1080p or i content on this television is incredible. I would highly recommend this to anyone with the caveat that if you are not very technically inclined save yourself some hassle and have it setup by a professional. Once in service the GUI is excellent and intuitive.

As usual. Sony products are of the highest quality. This TV meets the performance standards I've been accustomed to throughout the past 20 years. No complaints. The TV does what it's supposed to do and is worth every cent I paid for. Got a great Black Friday deal for 3 grand. Quality picture, color, and viewing experience. My family is amazed by this state of the art technology. Will continue to be a Sony product loyalist.
