Great TV - Best Picture

We use this TV as a monitor: that is we don't use the built in sound or apps. We did test out the built in Chromecast and it worked just as well as the same feature on our AVR. We use the NETGEAR Powerline AV500 Nano Ethernet Adapters to provide wired ethernet to our TV so we have plently of network speed if we need it.
As a monitor, the picture is the best.. Only a great OLED can compare, but such a thing in 75" is beyond affordable. While pricey, we got our 940E at $1k off and are really pleased with the results. 1080i and 720p are upscaled to 2160p flawlessly. Motion is rendered great too.
We play with the 'color' settings and are very happy to report that the setup changes for this are easy to find and understand. You can tweak the results while viewing the left 2/3's of the picture full sized. Our result is the best picture we've seen. Would do it again.

I have always bought Sony products. I am a firm believer in, you get what you pay for. The picture, sound, and clarity of this tv is the best one yet. Sony has again raised the bar. Very easy to install and set up. An excellent choice!!!

I really want to like this TV but there are just too many issues to ignore. The picture is great and the HDR is a nice upgrade from what I had before. Although the picture quality is amazing, everything else falls short. The problems arise if, like me, you have lots of devices that connect and need to integrate with each other.
One example is my home theater set up, which does not work properly with this TV. It turns out Sony TV's are notorious for not playing well with other devices, but I didn't know this beforehand. I get no audio (most of the time, but not always) when trying to play something from directly in the TV's apps. There is a problem with the ARC talking to the receiver and I have troubleshot everything for hours and researched only to find that it is a problem with Sony and there is not yet a fix for it.
The other problem is that this TV will not work properly with a Harmony Elite remote, or any Harmony Hub. The volume button when held down on the Harmony will cause the TV to flicker input information instead of just controlling the volume on the receiver. This happens because of the control over WiFi to the TV even though it should not be receiving commands of any kind. Again, more hours of research and trying everything it turns out it is another problem with the software on the TV. Sony is aware of these issues, but it does not appear that there is a fix coming anytime soon.
So in the end, I would say if you are looking for a TV with a great picture that looks amazing with PS4 Pro, 4K HDR content, and photos, but do not have a home theater set up, and no need for a separate remote....Then this TV is a great choice.
However, if you have a full HT set up, lots of IoT devices and want to use every feature of this TV, then it just simply will not work that way. I am still in the return policy for this TV so I will look at my options for a better replacement TV.

Coming from a Plasma, blacks were important to me. I see no difference from my plasma blacks. Great picture especially 4K HDR. Like others have stated Anroid software is different but once you get used to it it’s all good.

Awesome 75" tv. Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats. The picture is absolutely incredible. 4K dvds will blow your soxs off! Blu-Rays look like 4K's! Very, very happy with my decision to purchase this Sony Bravia XBR75X940E tv without seeing a display of it at Best Buy.
This tv is the 2017 and it isn't in the stores yet. Expensive but for me it was very, very well worth the money. Best Buy Geeks installed it and, as usual, did an excellent job.

We spent lots of time trying to decide which TV to purchase, and narrowed it down to 3. We decided on this TV mainly because of the full-array back-lighting. It does have a phenomenal picture! We had some concern about the Android Smart System based on user reviews, but so far our experience has been that it is smooth and responsive and easy to use. The only issue we have had is with the audio cutting out when streaming from the Amazon app (only). Still trying to figure that out! But we are happy with the TV and love the picture quality!

This Television is the best I have ever seen. The picture is amazing - the depth of the image leaves you gasping. Randy Eves made buying this Television the easiest experience ever. His knowledge of the product and the time he took to answer my questions made a purchase of this size easy. I have never enjoyed watching television as much as I do now. Everyone who watches movies with us on this television leaves wanting more. I could not be happier with my purchase or the way my movies look now!!!

Jet blacks ! Basically OLED quality, forget the image retention & screen burnin issues of OLED. I previously had a 2016 B6 65inch LG OLED, unfortunately had screen burnin after 14mnths because those TV’s suck and don’t last, I made the mistake of not buying a BB warranty. Never again! Purchased a 65inch Z this past Aug. Purchased this TV a few weeks ago and it’s amazing !! 2,800 is a steal !!!! Has a Z9D picture quality. It has a much thinner crisp bezel, very clean looking TV. I notice zero motion blur issues, gaming is very clean and crisp on the Sony Pro & MS X. Glad I decided to go with the E over the new F which has blooming issues.

This TV replaced a Panasonic 65zt60 plasma which was moved to a bedroom. The picture quality is 90% of the Panasonic which is exceptional considering it is an LED. I have no problems with motion, brightness or deep blacks. I originally purchased a LG OLED but returned it due to image retention and burn in after only 9 days! Much better TV than the x900f.

The 940E is completely outstanding. The black levels are terrific and the brightness is amazing. This thing does HDR and wide color gamut very well. I'm super pleased with the dolby vision performance as well. Definitely recommend this LCD over any other for all of 2017 and 2018. You can't beat this price for the size and picture quality anywhere.

The TV choice came down to a 65" OLED or this Sony. The picture and refresh on this TV are outstanding. this tv was purchased for sports and action movies. I would highly recommend this tv to anyone who is in the market for a 75". It is worth the extra money to go first class.

From Pioneer Kuro to Sony 4K LED

I have two pioneer kuro tvs. I wanted to increase the tv size in my theater. I purchased a Sony 850 series tv first. After watching pioneers for a decade I found that the 850 had poor black saturation and the refresh rate was low in comparison to the plasma. I returned the 850. My local Best Buy has all series of the Sony tvs on one wall with the same signal. I quickly saw where I needed to go, OLED. Unfortunately OLED in large size is $20,000. So I looked closely at the 940. It seemed to be the best picture vs price. I've had it for a few weeks now and now that I have it all dialed in, the blacks and clarity far exceed the pioneers. I could not be happier. There is another Best Buy review on the 900 of a customer that also found it difficult to compete with a kuro. Read that review too, it's quite accurate. If you have a kuro you may consider waiting for OLED to come down in price, but if you want it now the 940 is the best bang for the buck if you demand high quality image.

We love our new Sony 75 in. LED 2160p Smart 4K Ultra HD TV. The picture can't be beat even when you view it from one of the sides. The speakers do a very good job, however, I think we will add a SONY surround sound system next year.

This is our first 4K TV I wanted a screen with 4K capability, a screen that would fill my space, and highly rated picture. I looked at the Samsung QLED, Sony OLED, LG. For the quality and price This Set fit the bill - more than I wanted to pay, but it is worth the cost, and less than the others for a 75" display. The screen is gorgeous, I don't see the motion blur some have complained about. I would have liked to give this a 4.5 due to the android TV being somewhat of a chore to use, and I am an Android user.
