Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We were looking for a new TV and after doing research and looking in person we decided on this Sony best choice we ever made and we do own this TV !! we had an LG 8570 and this just blows it out of the water.out of the box this TV is outstanding Google TV is smooth and quick easy to get around and use. we watch a-lot of movies and standard Blu-Ray are just perfect 4K blu-ray are mind blowing black level and dark scenes are no problem for this TV colors pop and no issues with motion. sound could be better but we have this paired with a Vizio elevate sound bar and no issues at all with sound cutting out they work perfect together.normal TV looks great to just depends on your source we don`t game so we can`t comment there.one negative would be the remote buttons are small and no back light overall this is a great TV the pictures posted are in a dark room notice the black level and Best Buy had a perfect delivery....Thanks.

Ive always had Sony TVs in my house since childhood, and although ive used other brands while growing up, ive come back to Sony for good. The sound and picture quality is gteat. Now im even looking to buy two sony tower speakers to go with it. Size is huge looks like we are in our own private movie theatre. When we have parties in our house, we play 4K sceneries on youtube and the TV looks like a Huge moving painting... just mesmerizing.

Our living room is very bright, and the windows reflect off of our TV. Our old TV had a shiny screen and had dimmed over the years. This Sony TV, a 75" X85J, has a good anti-reflective screen, which has improved our daytime viewing a lot. (See photo and compare TV vs reflection in window.) It is also bright, which helps during the day. I got this unit on sale; it was a good value. The colors are vivid, and the contrast is good, so I don't really miss local dimming (it's edge-lit). To sum it up: I'd recommend this TV to a friend. My wife would have preferred to save some money and settle for the built-in speakers (which are actually fairly good), but she agrees that getting a Sony 3.1 sound bar was well worth it. The wireless subwoofer brings a theater-like experience to our home. If you do get a TV of this size, do consider getting Best Buy to install it. I am glad I didn't try to mount this myself. It's a tricky 2-person job. TD;DR: Good TV, but do get a sound bar. For the record: this is an independent (unpaid) review; I'm not a shill. :)

Burn-in after owning for a year and a half

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We got this TV in October/November of 2021, and here in late May and early June of 2023, we started noticing these dark spots on a few sections of the TV. You can clearly see them on a white background in the attached picture, and they're noticeable when watching shows or playing games. We're not happy since we spent $1,300 on it and this is happening after not owning the TV for that long. The TV is never in direct sunlight and hasn't moved since we set it up, this burn-in just occured with normal use. I give it two stars since it did have the features I was looking for like true 120 Hz refresh rate, and the picture looked good before this burn in.

While using the signal from an antenna to watch old TV shows in low resolution, the $700 Hisense picture is FAR BETTER than the $1,600 Sony. On high resolution antenna broadcast, like commercials, the Sony looks much better, but the Hisense still beats the Sony. I've spent countless hours adjusting the Sony and can't get anywhere near the picture quality of the Hisense TV. Even while streaming 4K video, the Hisense picture is noticeably better than the Sony. The kick in the pants is... I retired a ten year old 55" Insignia LCD that beat both of these by a mile. It was impossible to miss the blatant differences in picture quality with all three TVs lined up next to each other. $1,599.99 Sony X85J - $709.99 Hisense A6G --------- $890.00 Difference The better picture is much less than half the cost. The Sony is "Google TV" while the Hisense is "Android TV." I prefer the Google TV, but they're very similar and the capabilities appear identical. One TV is used as a computer monitor for software development, while the other is for numerous video inputs. I expected to use the Hisense for the computer. Turns out, the Sony picture is fine for that while not as good for other inputs. Conclusion? Buy the Hisense if your criteria is cost. The picture is probably better than your eyesight. Get a soundbar that costs more than the TV. Cheap soundbars aren't worth the money. Pretend it's the 1970s. Play your music loud enough to rattle the windows! There's a hospital bed in my family room, with two bedside tables. It took a lot of work to set that up, but I can put any of seven inputs on either monitor (or both).

Some reviews made it sound like the viewing angle would be terrible and they kind of scared me since I read them after I had already ordered it. But it is fine in my living room and I have seen other VA panel TVs with way worse viewing angles. I also was wondering if I wanted to get the local dimming feature and all that. All I know is the blacks look wonderful on it to me. Someone could buy Samsung 7 series same size and spend $300 less but I honestly believe this is worth it. Sony has more true colors. And this TV is basically qld they just call it triluminous or whatever. I had a 4-year-old entry level LG with an IPS panel it was so dull compared to this I'm still constantly noticing how much brighter this is. I personally like owning a japanese-made television also. If you're worried about viewing angles get the x80j with the IPS panel, but it won't be quite as bright. This is just a step above your lower price VA panel TV and I think it will be great for most people.

Been years wanting to upgrade to a bigger and better tv. Compared many different brands and models and sizes over the last couple months. I found that Sony offers the best quality for the budget you have. And with a tv this size it was well worth having Best Buy deliver and install it. Next step is to upgrade my sound bar and get a hide the wires kit and i will be ready to go.

So many picture adjustments. I will have to spend some time with those features to get it just the way I want. I bought a Polk sound bar system as well.
