The picture is really good. I watched both Dolby vision and HDR10 content on Netflix and Amazon prime and everything looked much better than on my old TV. Regular 1080p content looks great too. I’m using the recommended settings from rtings.com. The built in apps/interface are laggy. YouTube is the worst. It doesn’t really bother me though, and if it does in the future I can use my fire stick or Roku. One common complaint about this TV is that Dolby vision content from an external device is too dark. I don’t see any difference when watching Daredevil with the built-in app vs. the fire stick 4K app. This could be important, depending on what other devices you have, because the TV only has two HDMI inputs (2 & 3) that can do 4K HDR @ 60Hz. Netflix on my Roku ultra, when it’s plugged into port 4, won’t show 4K content. The Roku says the port is only capable of 4K HDR @ 30hz. The TV gets fairly bright and handles reflections decently, but in my living room with tons of west-facing windows, I still need to draw the shades during the afternoon. The Vizio PX Quantum may be a better choice if you want something brighter. Black levels are pretty good, but in a dark room, there is some bloom from bright movie scenes in the black bars, or around white text on a black background. It’s not enough to bother me and I’m going to add some bias lighting to see if that helps. It’s worse off axis. I didn’t get the X950G because that TV has less contrast for increased viewing angle at 75”, but for off axis viewing maybe it would be a good trade off. No dirty screen effect that I can see from using a test pattern on YouTube. Small parts of the corners are darker than the rest of the screen. You can see it when watching something with a light background like the John Oliver show. Not enough to bother me though. Overall I’m very happy with it for the money!

I’ve had this tv for a couple weeks now. It replaces a 4 year old 65” 850 series Sony that is still working fine in another room. I went to Best Buy and spent some time looking at Sony, Samsung, and LG. LG OLED was slightly better Picture to me, but there was not a 75” version, the LG was more expensive, and I was worried about burn in on the screen on OLED’s I have read about. I couldn’t tell a big difference between the 950 series and this tv in the showroom, so I went with the 900 series. The first one that was delivered worked for about 3 hours then locked up when accessing the apps and wouldn’t restart. I called Best Buy up and another one was delivered. No issues with this one so far. I’ve heard of people getting a lemon sometimes ever since LED’s came out so I wasn’t concerned about getting another tv of the same model. BestBuy came back in a couple days and replaced it. Good customer service! The picture on this tv is fantastic. The picture is better than my 4 year old 850 series Sony. The difference in size from the 65 to 75 is worth it. I haven’t felt the need to dive into the setting and tweek the picture settings unlike my previous tv’s. Blacks are black, and the picture is sharp. When playing 4K Blu-ray’s, it is awesome. I have a sound system hooked up so I can’t comment on the sound. I have the sound system hooked up to the ARC on the HDMI input which allows the control of the Marantz thru the Sony remote. Just remember to go in to the settings and change HDMI 3 signal format to “enhanced” to take advantage of the 4K capabilities of the tv. I have read complaints about the off angle viewing on this TV, but I can’t really see what the complaints are about. Looks good from any seat in the room. I have yet to see any stutter on football or fast movements on the screen in movies. I would recommend the 900 series Sony TV

2107 was an unimpressive year for TVs. The Z9D is without question a fantastic set, but it's age and minor issues ruled it out for me. I had been looking at the X940E for quite some time, but held out until CES 2018. The X1 Ultimate was intriguing, but when the Z9F hit I didn't feel it delivered enough TV for the price point (the Z9D is over a grand cheaper right now and has much better contrast ratio). Enter the X900F. I think of it as an updated, but not upgraded, X940E. Same size, same proc, Andy 7.0, probably fewer zones (not necessarily a bad thing), and I personally don't mind the legs, but I have mine mounted so the legs aren't in use. The X900F is a really great set. Out of the box colors pop and the contrast/brightness make the highlights stand out against adjacent, darker tones. My setting doesn't get too far off center so I don't notice much if any contrast drop at angles, but, there is some blooming noticeable when going from center to an angle, and the blooming gets worse the farther I am away from center. I instantly set the volume to zero, so no opinion available on the built-in speakers (wish they would leave them out). My set is connected to a Sony STR-ZA3100ES receiver, with an Apply TV 4K, Oppo 203, and Xbox One X as sources. Dolby Vision isn't adjustable on this set (yet?) and doesn't show up as an HDR selection option to force it, but when doing a set test on the One X, there is a green check next to it stating that the TV supported DV for streaming movies. I haven't had a chance to test a DV through the Apple TV or the Oppo, mainly because I've been going through the X Enhanced titles marveling at how good they look. :) I don't need, want, or use any of the built-in apps, nor is the TV even hooked up to my network, so I disabled as much as I could in Android to save RAM and lighten the load on the CPU. The interface wasn't laggy in my opinion, but after disabling many apps, it seemed a little more crisp in its response. In case Sony is reading this and is at a loss for a side project...I wish there were a high-end panel with no speakers, OS and apps for the masses, etc...I'd probably pay just as much for a TV without all of that. The 3100ES and the Oppo 203 do their respective jobs perfectly with no bells or whistles, and that's why I selected them...I don't need seven devices that can all stream Netflix and offer other services that probably won't be around for more than a couple of years. But I digress... In closing, I'm a very picky guy and don't like settling for less than I want. This TV checks all of the boxes sufficiently enough that I feel I got what I at a good price point (Black Friday sale plus $400 worth of Reward Zone points). The Z9F is a case of spending 30% more for a gain of maybe 5%, in my personal opinion. Buy what makes you happy.

Sure there are cheaper 75 inchers out there. But few if any match this one's stunning picture quality, thanks to a long list of state of the art features packed inside this TV. Most important, perhaps is a full array backlight with local dimming, which gives you a more uniform picture and much deeper blacks than you can get without it. Next is Sony's top of the line video processing chip, which pushes out rich vivid color and contrast to Sony's legendary Triluminos high color gamut screen. Add in full support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10, and a vastly improved Android TV for smart TV streaming services and you have a real winner on your hands. Nit pickers might gripe about little things, like the ugly clunky stand (better to wall mount it anyway) and some deep in the weeds tech specs that fall short of TVs costing three times as much. But in real world viewing there is not much to complain about here. Be aware the price on this model can model can vary dramatically -- sometimes discounted up to $800 off the MSRP -- so be sure to monitor prices and grab it when it hits that deep discount level. Since this is a 2018 model (Sony choose not to make a 900G in 2019) and the 2020 models are coming soon, you may be able to find a deal on this one.

I purchased this television to replace my almost 10-year old Sony DLP TV. My choices were the Bravia OLED, LG OLED, Sony Z9D, or Samsung QLED either in 65 inch or 75 inch form. I settled on this model because it combines features from both the 900E and 930E from 2017 as a 2018 model and for the price, I could get a 75 inch or a higher quality television (e.g. Z9D) at 65-inch so it was no brainer since I was looking for a larger television without compromising on features. I chose not to go with either of the OLED brands (Sony or LG) because of burn-in issues since I watch sports quite often with static images and I need the added brightness that only a LED-LCD could bring. As far as Samsung's QLEDs, they're ridiculously overpriced for what they offer when compared to the competition! Overall, I'm happy with this purchase even though I wish Sony would've put more thought on the stands for the X900F series for 2018.

Best Picture Quality / Worst OS

Researched TVs for weeks and it came down to Sony, Samsung, and LG as the top 3. I am not a brand loyalist, I research as much as possible and buy the best. Picture quality is the top priority for me, but coming from a Panasonic Plasma I was expecting to be disappointed by an LED. After comparing the top 3 choices and reading tons of reviews, it was clear that the Sony had the best picture quality. After getting it home I was blown away, it actually comes pretty close to plasma picture quality with its deep blacks and accurate colors. HDR looks amazing on this set. The only issue with the picture is that you need to turn off the motion smoothing or "soap opera effect" on all of the inputs. Using a PS4 with this TV is awesome, especially if the game supports HDR. No noticeable lag when in game mode. Be aware that if the PS4 says that the TV doesn't support HDR, you have to go into the settings on the TV and enable HDR for all of the HDMI ports. I have new LG nano series 8 in my bedroom, and while the picture quality is decent it doesn't come close to the Sony. But the LG remote and built in OS is great. Unfortunately, the Android OS on the Sony is absolutely horrible. It's slow, clunky, doesn't work well with the remote, and is just an overall bad experience. But fortunately if you're using another device such as Roku or Apple TV it's pretty much a non-issue. This TV is highly recommended for picture quality, just be sure to have another device for streaming because you will not be happy with the built in OS.

After owning a Sony Wega XBR 60 inch projection TV since 2006, I decided it was time for a change. I shopped all leading brands, both top and second tier, looking for the best bang for the buck. I think I found it. The Sony is not the least expensive 75 inch out there, but is the best looking at its price point and worth the difference in cost compared to less expensive sets. The picture is outstanding, vivid and crisp out of the box, and bright without being overpowering. We have in a large open space and it is beautiful when the room is bright with natural light or artificial illumination. When the room is darker, it is even better. In particular, the upscaling of 1080 HD cable programming is spectacular. We watch a good amount of broadcast TV and upscaling makes a big difference. The set handles streaming material (we do Amazon Prime, Netflix and HBOGo) very well. The image is smooth and sharp with excellent contrast. True 4k material is extraordinary. Some have complained about the AndroidTV smart system. It works fine for us and the voice activated, Google-based, remote is useful. We have paired the set with a Sony sound bar with subwoofer and satellite speakers. It's a great system for our family. Anyone thinking of a new 4k TV ...and has the space .... should check out this Sony 75 inch set.

This TV would have been a good value even at $400 more than the $1499 I paid for it during the President's Day sale. I had been trying to decide between this 75" the Samsung Q80 65" and the LG B9 65" OLED that were all priced around $1800 in the weeks after the New Year. They each have their positive points, the Q80 (2019 model only) was by far the best anti-glare of the group. The OLED B9 was the best dark room TV but might as well have been a mirror to lights in the room. This Sony was in between. It has a full array backlight so while not able to achieve the OLED's one pixel wide black line it was still very good. The setup was fairly painless. It took a couple minutes to find the best sound setup with my Samsung sound bar. There are a number of soundbars that this TV will automatically configure but my Samsung was not one of them. If you are buying this TV and a new soundbar at the same time I recommend downloading the manual and shopping for one of those that it is designed to work with. With that said, I was able to find a configuration that worked properly at all volume levels and that is more than I can say for my 65" Samsung that this TV replaced. This TV uses a Google interface and has Google Assistant built in for the voice functionality. What this means for folks who have Google accounts and those who use Google's services is that once you enter your Google account information, those services will be available with your preferences pre-set. As and Android phone user myself that has made the setup of all the apps seamless since it is very similar to setting up your phone. The voice interface is also excellent. If you want to switch to Disney+, Netflix, or Prime Video, just push the google assistant button and say the name of the streaming channel. It will switch right over. If you have not installed that channel yet it will ask if you want to download it. UHD HDR content is stunning on this TV. The TV will also upconvert HD content to UHD and does a good job with it. There are settings in the TV that you can enable to remove the "soap opera effect" that is common with high frame rate/high resolution TV's when watching content (movies) that was filmed at 24 frames per second. Some people don't mind the "soap opera effect" but I do and removing it with this TV was easier than with some others. The TV comes with an IR blaster that can be used to control various set top boxes. I used mine to control my Xfinity X1 DVR box. This allows me to control my entire system with just one remote. The only thing I can't control with the Sony TV remote is my poor neglected DVD player that get's little to no use these days since I now buy my movies in digital form. I have had the TV for about a month and thus far, don't have any complaints. This is a 2018 model so I don't know how much longer it will be available. I know in some "professional" reviews this TV is rated better than its 2019 version from Sony. If you can get it like I did for less than $1600 then it is a steal for how good the TV is. If it is listed above $1800 then you might want to wait for a sale or consider some of the other options out there. This is a wonderful TV and I don't think any other TV in the 75" class can meet the picture quality that it has at the price that I paid which was $1499.

In just about every category of TV rating--brightness, contrast, color, motion, etc.--this set is an above average performer among LCDs. And that versatility becomes a quality all its own--there's no real weak spot to this set, except for the slightly sluggish Android TV interface. HDR, whether Dolby Vision or HDR10, looks amazing with the right material. Video games in HDR in particular are stunning via PS4 Pro.

I bought this TV almost a year ago and feel like I can provide an appropriate longer term review of this product. I have been extremely please with this TV. I am not one of those who dig in and understand every single detail of the product and tweak it to get every possible benefit out of it that they can, but I do have calibration discs that I use and do adjust settings to give me the best picture that I can. I have also looked at other TV's and still feel that this TV was a great purchase for me. I purchased this one over some of the competitors primarily for it's ability to handle motion artifacts and it's very good black levels with realistic color. I did initially have some issues with Banding that I also noticed in the store while reviewing, but was able to handle that effectively with a setting in the menus. I have been happy with this TV ever since. My only complaint is that several people in my family like to have captions on while watching shows and when they are on, the brightness of the letters negatively impacts black levels around the words in dark scenes - I think this would be called blooming even though it is not quite like I would think of when the word blooming is used because the edges are still sharp. It is just an area around the letters that seems less black. My brother has an OLED TV which doesn't show this issue. I would say that except for that one issue, my TV rivals his in raw picture quality. He does have some motion artifacting with his TV that I do not have, so for me there is no perfect TV as they all have some issues. I am more bothered by motion issues than I am by the slight "Blooming" on this TV, so this was the right purchase for me. When I turn off the captions, I have no complaints. Maybe an option to make the captions grey or yellow or something might help, but it is not a major issue and it does not bother my kids or my friends who watch, so maybe I am just too picky. I also enjoy the smart features of this TV as well. The only thing I wish it had that it doesn't is an internet browser of some sort. I like to stream my churches services to the TV in this covid era and it would be nice to go directly to their website. As it is, I cast it to the TV from my phone, or connect to my computer in my office. Both of those methods are a bit more clunky than just being able to use a browser on the TV, but they work and so that is a relatively minor complaint. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and hope to get many years of enjoyment out of this television.

This has been a great purchase for us so far. The picture is stunning and clear. Even when not watching 4K content you really get immersed into the story with the nice clear crisp picture with beautiful colors. That is with us sitting about 13 feet away even. I wear glasses for distance and often find I can take my glasses off to watch as the picture is so good. We mostly stream from the top 4k Roku and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially when we are streaming older content that does not fill the screen. Don't have to worry about burn in and jumping through hoops zooming the picture to ensure no black bands on the screen like we did with our OLED. Now we can just relax and watch whatever. Oh, and talk about a dream to easily set up a SONOS sound bar with this TV! Really a pain to do with both our Samsung and our LG oled. With this TV it was simple simple simple. Almost plug and play. Just go on the SONOS app, click to set up a new TV and follow the prompts. Worked no problem. I also like the remote with this TV. Not so much the navigation area which is a bit tight, but the fact that it has clear nice buttons on it to push for power and volume etc. The Samsung has that sleek looking one and if you are not careful you are constantly bumping the power button and turning the set off by just grabbing the remote. I say keep it simple. The remote on this set does what it needs to. If you get this TV I think you will be happy with it. I did some online research on it before purchase and it came pretty highly rated.

Great upper mid tier offering. Be careful reading reviews, this is a 2018 tv model which was also included in the 2019 lineup as well. Early 2018 reviews may differ from current as this tv has had firmware updates to add dolby vision and then later to enhance performance. I would measure price vs the x950g or h and go with those if only a small price difference as those offer slight upgrades to brightness and a new chipset to fully support EARC. (Note this model does support Atmos and will pass an atmos signal to your receiver/soundbar) Keep in mind the picture and build are going to be superb. Also to avoid confusion, Sony doesn't really offer lower budget models like LG and Samsung (not that there is anything wrong with budget models) so this tv would compete against the higher end lcds of those brands. (Nano and Qled models) Note, as for color, Sony attempts to go for the most accurate color display. Samsung by default leabs towards more vibrancy at the sacrifice of accuracy. In the end it may come to personal choice of which you prefer visually. (With a reminder calibration can be done to fine tune the picture characteristics to your liking with either) If on the fence you cant go wrong, you'll get a great tv.

I looked at at every tv at Best Buy, read reviews all over the internet on every tv out. Im willing to bet I would have been happy with a lesser value at a lower price tv but I wasn’t in the mood to deal with warranty company’s and returns or any of that. Simply cant go wrong with a Sony. I got 15 days to return it and the only reason I may go thru the hassle is for the mere fact I think a 75 inch would fit in the space better.

These TVs are expected to develop dead pixels, so if you can't spend the extra money for Best Buy's pixel coverage, do NOT buy it. There's a reason this coverage is so expensive. The amount correlates to the amount of failures they expect. You WILL be told by Sony that the dead pixels are expected. I've got a bright RED dead pixel smack in the middle of my screen. See attached. TV is beautiful, but slow. Everything I do looks great. You need the upgraded processor for a smooth experience from what I hear. Better to use an external device for use of apps etc.

Just before buying this Sony I had purchased a 75" Samsung Q6. It had beautiful color but I quickly saw that the processor couldn't keep up with even relatively slow movements on-screen. For instance, while playing a movie, when an actor would turn his/her head quickly to the side, there would be pixilation or ghosting or whatever you want to call it. When watching a football game, the ball would completely disappear from the screen during a kickoff. Then the processor started doing some other goofy things such as moving the on-screen menu to a different quadrant of the screen. Given that if electronics are going to have problems, they usually reveal themselves within the first 30 days, I quickly began to lose confidence that the Q6 was going to survive long. Back it went to Best Buy. I replaced it with this Sony 75" X900F which was considerably more expensive, but I think it's worth it since we don't buy TVs often...we've been very pleased with its performance so far. We pull our TV signals from an antenna and, like the Samsung, it seems to have trouble pulling in the lower end of the channel range (below channel 15) so I need to boost the signal with a pre-amp. I don't know if this is a fault of the larger-TV processors/tuners needing more signal strength to power such a large screen, or what the issue may be (our older 50" and 36" Sonys pull in every channel quite easily). We mostly use this TV to watch streaming movies and shows, so the tuner strength is not all that critical for us, but still necessitates dinging the rating by one star.

I already have had the 49" 900F in my home office for a year and a half, and love it. We needed/wanted a new TV for our living room, and wanted to get a 75". I was highly considering moving up to OLED, so I checked those out. Was I impressed with OLED? Yes, very much so. But for 2X - 2.5X the cost of this 900F, I had my reservations about moving up to OLED (for a variety of reasons, not just cost). I pondered on it for a few weeks, and decided that the 900F was the smarter purchase for my situation. And I couldn't be more thrilled. Absolutely stunning picture, motion handling is top-notch, and the black levels are deep. FALD works great with very minimal blooming (not even enough to comment on). Was I surprised by the quality of this TV? No, not at all, since I already have the 49" version. If I had to give it a "grade", I would say a solid A-. If I had to give it a grade based on value, I would give it an EASY A++. There might be TVs out there that are better, but only marginally. And to get that "marginally better" TV, you are going to spend a lot more. All in all, if I had to do it all over again, I would get this TV again without ANY hesitation. Maybe OLED is in my future, maybe not. But in the meantime, this TV is completely the best out there, at this size, and at its price point. Now, back to my movie marathon!

We needed to replace our 75” TV. The prices are still relatively high for this size. The 900F, however, is reasonably priced, while providing excellent picture quality. I’m truly impressed by HDR and Dolby Vision. The picture is bright even when watching in the middle of the day. I find no motion blur and a solid gray screen (or any solid color) shows almost no inconsistency. I highly recommend this TV.

I had previously bought the 850 it was terrible I returned it and bought the 900 believe me get the 900 I don't buy TV 900 it's worth the extra money. Every time I watch it for the past month I am still in awe every time. Blacks are as about as good as it going to get without getting into an OLED colors are top-notch contrast is top-notch clarity Etc. You won't be disappointed.

Picked up this TV on an open-box deal. I knew what I was getting into with a Sony TV, so my expectations were moderate. All I can say is ...... wow. Design is flawless as always from any Sony product. Slim enough, super small bezel. Leg design allows for my Sonos to fit perfectly in between the leg supports. Decided to not mount due to just not fully trusting the size and weight to not tear out of the wall. Android TV and software is always an easy process to get set up and moving around. The remote is a bit annoying as you kinda need to know where to go in order to turn off the remote from always listening to you. The Google assistant is nice, but sometimes when you are watching something, you may comment, the remote hears you, and then starts displaying junk from YouTube that it thinks you were talking about. The display is massive, bright, clear, and colorful. If you know anything about Sony pannels, then you know this is the case the more expensive the TV is. Great purchase for an open-box deal. Could not be happer saving a few hundred dollars on an amazing TV.

I was looking for a 75 inch TV that was not insanely expensive but still had top quality picture. After doing a lot of research and price shopping I decided on the Sony X900F. I had been considering the higher end Vizio and TCL tvs but the price came down on the Sony around the holidays. I am extremely happy with the TV, the picture and colors look amazing and lifelike. The black levels and local dimming feature seem to work excellently in my opinion. I had been concerned with some reviews saying the smart tv features and menus were really slow and laggy but honestly after using the tv it really isn't a big deal. Sometimes it is a little sluggish switching between apps but not bad enough to be really annoying but most of the time the speed seems fine. The picture quality and price compared to the Sony 950 more than make up for it in my opinion.
