We were swapping our tv's around, So we bought this to replace a 85 inch samsung U8000 model. Still working and a great tv for quality. SD is awesome as well as 4k content. The downside was the apps. Dated and slow. We needed an upgrade and looked for a better unit. The reviews were good for this TV. We bought the 85 inch model. We unboxed the unit and started it up. Worked like a champ. BUT. The quality of the picture was downright horrible. The sharpness was too much or too little. There was no depth to the image. The motion was not great. This was all in the HD content coming from my HD receiver and HD direct tv box. The quality of the 4k was good but compared to my Samsung, not even close. I put in a 4k Movie in our 4k DVD unit and it was just ok. Our old samsung was far superior. did i tweek it. Yes, tried all the different settings, did the hd dvd setup as well. Could never get it to where i think it needs to be. When i would change between SD and HD channels it was a nightmare. The SD and HD looked like cable from 20 years ago. the contrast and sharpness was all a nightmare. The brightness and blacks changed drastically as well. The next day we got up and I proceeded to turn on the TV. That was a bust. No POWER at all. I mean it was dead as in DEAD. Swapping the power source, unplugging and cold resets did not work. I did a hard boot reset and finally got it up and running. Called Sony and they said it was probably a lemon. After I hung up I proceeded to reset everything. The picture tweeking, and the apps all over again. That took forever. I also proceed to do a firmware update. The tv would not connect to Sony at all. Had to do a usb stick from my computer for the update. I thought that would fix the power issue. Continued to watch and tweek the TV all day. I thought I finally had a decent picture. But I was wrong. The screen itself was weird. The screen had wavy reflections on it. It would also pick up the kitchen lights and make it like a light show on the tv. never could fix that other then turning the lights off. The one reason why we wanted a new tv for the main room was the apps. The apps on this tv is outstanding. The speed of the apps is fast. The netflix feature on this tv is out of this world. The content is super HD and 4k and looks like the rest of the tv should. I think Sony put the money into streaming on this tv and it showed. That was the only bright spot. Today, we got up and once again it was DEAD! This time I could not even do a hard boot! which would have sucked. Who wants to do a factory reset everyday! Its dead and not worth the effort. I tried it all to get it up and running again. The TV is in the box and waiting for a pick up and exchange. Best Buy handled this like a champ! I had them order a Samsung Model instead and they can have this back to send to Sony! We put our old tv back up and couldn't believe how much better it is then the SONY! We just don't get it. Today's tech should be on par with the old if not better! Such a disappointment. On a positive note the removal and putting it back in the box is a breeze. Great job Sony did there!

My friend got this set right when it hit the market and had it professionally calibrated. I spent many hours at his place playing video games and watching a variety of content from many different sources. In short, when it came time for me to purchase a television, I wasn't taking a shot in the dark with my purchase of this tv. There is much I could repeat from other reviews, so I would point out that different brands of televisions each have a unique way they process the image, and it is important for any buyer to get a feel of which brand's image "looks right" to them. The most important aspect for my decision was that the image on this set agreed with my eyes better than others. The video processor plays a very important role in determining the "flavor" of the moving image, and this plays out in the price tag. ANY of the top-brand televisions will blow you away based on the "curated video" on display at the store. When you get the TV home your picture quality will depend on the quality of its source material and it is important to realize that a particular TV may look absolutely breathtaking in the store, but could become pixelated, choppy, or distorted when used with different content and different sources. Typical streaming content (even High Definition sources) would not allow the user to fully realize this television's capabilities. Owners should look to 4K (Ultra High Definition) content for this set, which often requires a higher-tier subscription to Netflix, Amazon, etc. The apps that are native on this television are capable of this resolution for streaming content. Other sources of 4K/UHD content include certain Blu-Ray discs that will require a special player with 4K/UHD output. I have personally spent hours with both the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro on this set and I can attest it is a phenomenal, crisp, and responsive tv for video games.

Had this tv delivered a month ago. Delivery people were very friendly. This is huge tv with great picture quality even with programming that is no in HD or 4k. Love that it uses the android tv operating system. So you can keep up to date with all the new streaming apps coming out. Watched my first Vikings game on it yesterday and it preformed flawlessly. It was like was at U.S. Bank Stadium. One other note the sound quality of the speakers on the are surprisingly good for tv speakers.

I only give 4 stars instead of 5 is because when you use YouTube for more then 30mi to 1 hr it’s gets stuck, but not to the point that’s it’s stuck stuck but to the point that the search works but nothing will play also all other apps will work but will not play the only thing that’s work to fix this is to hold the power button for few seconds and the tv will show to cancel or restart press on restart and it takes about minute to start working properly again. Besides that it’s a amazing picture and very well build tv, on sale for 3k you can beat it, it has the fastest processor as well for 2019 models. Good for many years.

This is the 85. Picture color, off angle, and contrast is great. Blacks are very good also. Sound is good but will need sound bar or surround system for a large room. I need to play with the motion settings - out of the box, sports can look a little choppy.

I highly recommend, it truly is everything sony claims. It's going to be difficult watching tv on any other screen. Say at a friends house or a sports bar, hotel airport ect. Worth every penny, and then some. And best buy makes the decision making simple, with knowledge of the products. I recommend both sony and best buy.

We upgraded and I’m definitely glad we did, what difference in the processing speed from X900G to X950G. The picture and sound is top quality, especially with surround sound. We LOVE our TV and highly recommend to others in the market for high quality TV with all the bells and whistles at a reasonable price.

The TV is super great.. Had the wife look at 4k videos via YouTube.. she said it looks amazing.. Blacks is not washed out as some said.. Waited till the tv went on sale.. Also please purchase a warranty.. to big to fail.. Man cave is being completed..Denon 7200w Klipsch 8000F and the 64 Center Channel with RP 600 M as surrounds, plus 2-C-1800 in the ceiling..

I wasn't sure what to think not buying a plasma or an OLED, but this tv is incredible. The viewing angles are great and the colors are deep. My only complaint is that Android TV OS is buggy and slow. The X1 Ultimate chipset is great and upscales with the best of them.

Quality and size make viewing TV so much fun. The sound quality I truly can't comment on it since my tv is connected to a bose home theater system, however, allthe smart features are great comparing with 3 other owned smart tv. Price was a bit hefty, I just hope it last for a while and not just give up in fews years like the cheaper brand.

If you want to get the biggest size possible and want great picture and color- the Sony 950G with the X1 processor is the way to go!

Rich deep colors blacks are black as night. Upgraded family room 75” Sony X850 to the 85” X950 didn’t think there would be much difference other than size, I was wrong, visually a much more impressive picture. Glad I made the purchase.

This Sony does not disappoint! The size, vibrant colors, and clarity of the picture are the best I’ve seen. Movies and Sports come alive, and the smart features make switching to Netflix or Prime so quick and easy. So glad I made this purchase!

I was going back and forth between buying this TV or the 77 inch LG C9. I ended up choosing this TV because it was cheaper but also because the screen size and picture quality. I also tend to watch TV in bright room which isn't ideal for OLED TV's so this was a no brainer. I think this looked better than the Samsungs in the same size range and am super happy I did, I love this TV. Also, if you are wondering about this TV's stand, yes the feet can be flipped to save a ton of space.

This is a big, beautiful, smart TV. The picture is excellent. The sound is actually pretty good for built in speakers. It powers on and gives you instant access to apps for all of your streaming services. It connected easily via wifi to my router. I will say that it had some hiccups with the wifi connection on the second day and I was worried that I would have to bring in tech support, but the problem went away within an hour or two so I think it was probably just updating software in the background. Since then it has connected flawlessly every time I turn it on.

We had the Geek Squad set up the TV the week before the Super Bowl. So we watched it in 4k. WOW ! Is all I can say. This TV exceeds all of our expectations. We reviewed and researched all of the major players in this size range. We could not be happier with our choice. I've been a Sony consumer for many years and this is another prime example why. Also would like to give a huge pat on the back to the Geek Squad. They were very professional and courteous, answering all of our questions and concerns clearly and concise. Recommending this TV and the Geek Squad service to all looking for a great TV watching experience is a NO brainer. Thanks Sony and Geek Squad !!!

Upgraded from 46'' Samsung to 85'' Sony is one of the best upgrades I have done recently. It was easy to install and set up.. Wanted to buy QLED, but very happy with this purchase

Color is very natural and vibrant without bringing eye fatigue from long term use, However, I wish Sony would offer 85 inch without the wide angle view that subdue the native contrast in darker scene, Otherwise the picture gets brighter comparable to the Masters LCD!

The sales team did a great job of assisting us with this fantastic purchase. They took measurements, checked leg installation by getting a set of legs out of inventory. The legs had to be reversed to fit my console. It worked great! Now to the TV...it is beautiful and fits my living room. The installers showed us how to you tube and find all the 4K video. We had travelled around the world sitting in our living room. Thanks to the Best Buy sales team.
