When the TV is off or in standby mode, the USB ports may turn off and on at various times, this is normal. There are no user settings to control when the USB ports are turned on or off. It is a reflection of Sony. First I absolutely am enamored with this set. I can't say enough good except...I purchased this and the zf9 sound bar. I started experiencing sound loss issues. I called Sony tech twice,figuring it was the sound bar or the tv itself. It appears the culprit is the tv. There are other people who have experienced the same issue with sony tv and sonos soundbar as well. The techs both had me go through resets, and in fact I allowed the 2nd tech access to the tv remotely. The bottom line was, I was told to reset my tv occasionally to clear out the cache etc. Since that call yesterday, it has cut out about 5 times an hour. I had asked the tech if there was a software update coming and was told my software was up to date and he didn't know if there will be an update...REALLY! SONY knows there is a problem and it's quite prevalent complaint ,check Sony's tech site. It seems to be in the e-arc hdmi port. After spending $2800.00 you'll think you wouldn't have to reset the tv..SONY needs to get their act together and resolve the issue. There are people talking about class action to get them to move on this issue. Mind you I had an 850c prior and did not have these issues at all.
