Sony picture quality has never been so evident in a TV. The color & clarity are fantastic on this TV. Sounds almost like rating a diamond. Haha. I was in the market for a large high quality TV. There were plenty of brands to choose from at 85", but I ruled out the tier 2 manufacturers, like TCL, Vizio, or Hisense, because I did not want to leave it to chance to get a good panel out of all the units they sell. I didn't want to spend over $8000 for it either. But when going to an 85", its bond to be a couple grand. This was the perfect middle ground with all the feature set I wanted (granted, HDMI 2.1 is still waiting for firmware update; heard that they are waiting for the PS5 firmware update to couple it with their TV so people will want the combination). Either way, there aren't that may devices that can use HDMI 2.1 at this moment. As far as sound out of the TV, its pretty great for TV speakers. It gets loud and full enough to compete with entry-level sound bars. Did I mention the picture quality? It's pretty awesome. Local dimming helps in bright rooms and gives all the subjects on the TV clarity. The brightness can get a bit too bright in dark rooms, but it's always better to have the capability to dim down than not have enough nits natively to counteract glare or bright rooms. If you're in the market for great TV that doesn't break the bank but definitely hits higher than it's weight class, this may be the one for you, but it is a 2020 model and inventory may be low. It is better specced and offers more than the newer 2021 model. Get this one, you won't have buyers remorse.

The rich colors and sharp contrast on this TV still amaze me after over a month of owning this TV. I spent several hours over several weeks in the store patiently looking at different 80 plus inch TV's before settling on this one. The quality and the price made this TV a no brainer and comfortable to go with a brand I never had before. The only down side, which was easily overcome, is the tremendous weight (100lbs of goodness) and poor positioning of the mount holes if you are going to wall mount this TV. They are positioned low on the TV instead of the center gravity so it makes it top heavy when mounting and it wants to pitch down. So make sure you have a mount that can handle this bad boy and can lock in the pitch good and tight. I recommend at least 3 people to help put it on the mount.

Thank you for taking the time to write such an in-depth review of your experience with one of the best TV in the market, X900H Full Array LED 4K Ultra HD Android TV. I finally decided to upgrade from my 55" 3D 1080p TV to 4K, but I figured if I'm going to get a new TV I might as well increase the size as well. This TV makes me wonder how I managed to enjoy movies and sports on such a paltry sized screen in the past. Everything is significantly better aside from just screen size: pictures appear colorful, cleaner and sharper, motion looks incredibly smooth, contrast and black levels are on point, and even the audio sounds better when connected to my Bose wireless surround sound system thanks to Dolby Atmos. It does require you to change some settings within the TV, and each input device you plug in can also be customized to your preferences, but I end up using the same presets for just about every device.
Speaking of devices, this TV automatically detects what I plug into the HDMI ports and makes the appropriate settings to make it all work seamlessly with the remote. For example, my Bose system supports ARC and has an additional input that I plugged my Apple TV into, and it asked me if I wanted to use the Bose system as my main audio and to turn on and off with the TV, which in turn also turns on and off my Apple TV. I can now use the included Sony remote to fully control volume and the Apple TV instead of using separate remotes for each device, which is awesome since I had some issues with my last TV and a Harmony remote that wouldn't work all the time.
Moving on to the "smart" features of the TV, they're good but there are some limitations to Android that I found annoying, namely with the app selection. The main reason why I use an Apple TV instead of just the included Android software is the lack of AT&T Now in the Google Play Store. This is where the bulk of the content I watch is on, and even though they have an app available for Android phones, they do not have one available for Android TV. Everything else about Android TV works fine, such as Google Assistant for quickly finding content on installed apps or switching apps. Even Alexa works fine with the TV, but until AT&T Now is available I'll have to use the remote to watch regular broadcast television on my Apple TV instead.
Overall, this is a beautiful looking set that despite its size, doesn't take up much depth space on my countertop due to the way how the feet are positioned. If you're like me and enjoy going to the movie theaters but can't due to the coronavirus, this is a great choice. There are other TVs from Sony and other competitors that offer better technologies, but they also cost significantly more than this one and I just didn't see the value in them when I went to see the sets in person.

Once I fired up this TV, it was immediately apparent that it is a high quality panel. I made only very small adjustments to the picture to make color accuracy and black levels much better than my mid-tier Samsung, LG and Vizio TVs. The Android UI works smoothly and streaming apps have perfect picture. There is no need for external streaming devices. Once adjusted, the black levels and local dimming are impressive, but not perfect. My one complaint is the high reflectivity of room lights and sunlight. The backlight/brightness is enough to overcome this in most cases. I did notice once that sound to my AVR cut out as reported by other users. I have not had a chance to use HDMI 2.1 features and don’t plan to anytime soon. It’ll be nice if and when firmware updates take care of some of these issues. Overall, I’m very happy!!

I mounted this tv and my living room and It’s like a movie theater. Since theaters are no longer seemingly going to be relevant, at least for a long time, my advise is to spend the money on this TV. It’s going To be HDMI 2.1 capable when the time comes unlike the 950h. The 950h was great but not worth the extra $1300.00. So I returned it and couldn’t be happier. This is the best TV I have ever owned

It's not a perfect tv, more local dimming zones would always be nice, and unless the auto local dimming is set to high, the Halo and edge light leaks are very noticeable. Also the Dolbyvision dark setting has a significant backlight flicker and edge leak effect in some scenes (the bonfire scene in The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix was particularly bad) but the bright setting fixes this issue, and when the black adjust, adv contrast enhancer, auto local dimming, and x-tended dynamic range are all set to high, HDR content looks incredible. (I'm usually not someone who cranks any setting to high on a tv, but it seems to be the best option here). Also, Motionflow is easily disabled (I don't know why TVs still have this feature) and I'm very excited about the HDMI 2.1 features (I just received the first of the two updates, and I use this TV for PC gaming, so 4K 120 hz is an awesome addition,). Overall this TV is an incredible value for the price compared with the competition.

Absolutely the best deal for the price. The local dimming works nicely, blacks are great, but aren't as inky as an OLED of course An 85" model with that tech will set you back at least 4 times the cost of the 85X900H. This finally received the VRR and ALLM updates, and they work with no apparent compromises other than the TV's internal storage running low. This does cause lag once in awhile. The picture is large, bright and vibrant. 4K HDR is stunning. The bezels are super thin with metal borders which looks nice and adds an apparent quality touch. If you can still find one of these, buy it without hesitation. Simply the best size/quality/performance for the price bar none.

Bought this based on reviews that placed it above Samsung QLED 8 series that was $1,000 more for 85" during Black Friday sale. Picture quality is awesome, best non-OLED. Upscaling is very good - Youtube videos look like Blue Ray. Android TV is great - it supports all the apps (Hulu, Prime Video, HBO Max, Netflix). Apple TV+ is expected in next update of firmware.
Only regret, had Best Buy deliver this TV to basement since no one to help me move my 82" Samsung from family room to basement during Covid. We generally watch movies there. Now our best TV will be in the basement - 85" is bigger then twin mattress; can't imagine being able to safely move it without movers!

Pro:
- deep blacks and vibrant colors even in a relatively bright room.
- UI is better than other top brand that I had. It’s also based on android so lots of apps available.
- Audio is significantly better than the other top tier brand that I had even with speakers w lower output power. Very clear dialog at low volume.
- I prefer Sony’s physical buttons based remote
- integrates well w other Sony device (e.g. PlayStation)
- BIG!
Con:
- AirPlay stutters when playing back videos/mirror from an I-device. I had a 2 year old tv from a competing brand that plays just fine, so I think it’s Sony’s implementation issue.
- I noticed some vignetting-I.e. corners seem to be Noticeably darker than the rest of the screen. It’s only noticeable when you look at a fairly monochromatic image so i got used to it.
- the unit I got has a slightly uneven screen. It’s not huge to the point that causes distortion of the image. But I could see that the reflection is slightly distorted when the unit is off.
Things to consider
- the mounting points in the back of the unit is not centered vertically. The VESA screw holes are located slightly below center. So if you want to mount the tv on the wall, keep that in mind and check the spec to make sure everything fits.
- all connectors are on the left side of the tv if you face the screen. The other top brand I owned had the connectors on the right. Power cord is on the right.

This TV just can’t be beat for the price. 85”!!!!! Are you kidding me?!? Works great with PS4, but looks awesome with PS5. Kong VS Godzilla looks amazing in 4K with Dolby vision, especially the night scene in Hong Kong.
The built in apps are great. I’ve had an HTPC hooked up for about a decade and I very rarely use it anymore due to Google TV. It’s a great interface. Our 5 year old Sony tv even got updated with the same interface, so hopefully they stand behind this TV as long.
I use it in a home theater with a Denon x3600h and it did take a bit to set up, but it’s worth it now. I wish Sony would come out with a newer hdmi 2.1 reciever. Bravia link is awesome and I wish I had it in this room to.

I did a lot of research before deciding on this TV for my new home theater. There are plenty of TVs out there that are cheaper, but this one definitely offers the most bang for your buck. The colors are immaculate straight out of the box, blacks are deep, and the processor handles the android software like smooth butter. Add in future HDMI 2.1 support, EArc and VRR coming via future firmware update, this TV will also be THE PERFECT pair to a next gen console (ie PS5). Very happy with this purchase!

Positively Pleased with our 85” Sony purchase. My husband and I have been “kicking tires” for almost 6 months before being educated on this specific model. The next new tech is not really our thing but neither is the low end quality. Simply put, we wanted to watch live games and watch a movie as if we were in person. We couldn’t be happier with our decision.
Sony has long lived the movie business so it shouldn’t be a surprise but we are still shocked with its theater like sound and dynamic colors, truly incredible.
Our only concern prior to our purchase was to be the effects from different lighting and reflections. As it’s been well over a month now, we very seldom have even noticed any type of reflection. We have had to physically move around the entire room and look extremely hard to see even a glimpse from lights or windows (both day or night). Our only assumption could be is our LED house lighting and/or direction of our blinds that may minimize potential issues.
Well worth the wait!
