I really enjoy this camera. The Kit lens is not the best but it's a great starting point for high quality photos and an interchangeable lens. It's very light and not too bulky! Great for the money!

This camera is very easy to use for beginners. Takes great pictures and you can buy a separate lens with more zoom that a professional camera can have without spending so much money. I love it!

I like the Sony because it is mirrorless and has a nice range of lenses that I can use in my photography. Small and easy to carry wherever I go. Does great video and I especially like the fact that it does Raw and JPG together. I am planning on getting the Sony Alpha 7 full frame in a few months as this has turned out to be good line of equipment for my hobby.

The picture and video quality is outstanding. The camera is a perfect size to take with you anywhere. The lens is also retractable which is very convenient. The fact that the screen can fold up to a 180 degree is pretty cool.

I was first introduced to the sony line up of cameras about 3 years ago. Sony showcased their a7 r ii. I was very impressed! However, I can't afford that price tag! So, I kept wishing and hoping. Ran into a great deal on the a5000, and decided to try it. Nice camera! Haven't had a whole lot of chance to use it, yet. It's compact, easy to use, fairly easy to navigate, takes great pictures, and light weight. What's not to love? Great intro camera to the sony brand.

I love the camera's capabilities, SLR quality at a fraction of the size. The flip up screen is great for those who love taking selfies. I've only used it with the kit lens but I imagine as my lens collection grows I'll be able to max this cam out. I bought it for travel, took some pretty cool shots. I recommend downloading the Sony Remote App, good tool to have.

This camera has taken amazing photos. I enjoyed using all of the different photo settings, such as B&W Green, toy camera, and some of the other filters. I am not an experienced photographer my any means, but some people have commented that my photos are just as good as some they see in magazines, an exaggeration, sure, but it shows how a newbie like me can take decent photos with this camera. You can link it up with your phone wirelessly. Yes, it is much better than your phone camera.

I love this camera I only rated it 4 stars because it doesn't have a view finder, and on sunny days it is very hard to see what you are shooting. The back is adjustable, but that really isn't very helpful on sunny days. That is the only drawback that I have, camera takes very sharp photos and is very easy to use.

Takes amazing shots, beautiful colors. When shooting movies comes out fantastic.

I have had 6 digital cameras since 2000 and this is by far the best one to date.

This may be a bit premature, but I wanted to get some thoughts out now on my new Sony Alpha a5000. I got a great price on it (open box item) so I will be less critical than most. It has a lot of functionality in terms of built-in software and help, and yet still provides all the manual controls advanced photographers want. I got it mostly for the large APS-C sensor in a relatively small camera body. I do miss not having an EVF, but I don't think this will be a major issue. I need to take a lot of photos to get a better idea of its potential, but so far it has taken nice pics.

It's camera is easy to use and I always bring this camera when I go vacation and the results are very satisfying

Love this camera. I have so much more to learn, but was able to learn enough quickly to use it recently during my trip to Iceland. The primary hope for the trip was to see Northern Lights. We not only saw a beautiful display on New Year's Eve, but I was the only person who was able to capture it with my camera. Also, given the easy Wi-Fi transfer, I was also able to send them to others in our tour who wanted them. My Sony A5000 was the hero!

For the price this camera was a great buy. I don't know much about cameras but with a trip to the tropics coming up for a family reunion over a 80th Birthday party and a wedding I knew I wanted something more then my smartphone camera. Very easy instructions to follow and very satisfied with my photos.

The camera is so small and light that I had doubt about how it would perform. It turned out really nice. The picture quality is superb, so much better than my iPhone 6.

My wife and I bought this camera for two reasons. First, we were tired of point and shoot variety cameras with their inadequate quality. When a cell phone takes a better photo than your camera that is a shame. Secondly, we were jealous of our friends and family members with DSLRs who always seem to have amazing photos of their kids. So we ventured into the search for our own DSLR. Mirrorless cameras such as this one have a distinct advantage of size and reduced weight. The only downside was that it lacked an optical viewfinder and instead uses a digital viewfinder. That was fine by us. We are serious outdoorspeople and the only advantage we could find in any DSLR otherwise was that Pentax sells several models which are water resistant. The price point of mirrorless cameras tends to be comparable to DSLR cameras but when this one went on sale for Black Friday there was a clear price advantage at $299 which was better than any new DSLR. So we went for it. And we are very happy with our purchase. So far the camera has proven to be highly functional, easy to use, and takes amazing photos without much tweaking. We have already taken hundreds of photos of our family over the holidays and look forward to compiling them. We plan to take it with us on a weeklong backpacking/kayaking trip in the summer so the weight advantage is very nice. Some cool features include Wi-Fi which allows your iPhone, iPad, or Android phone to be used as a wireless view screen and remote for the camera, automatic uploading of unlimited photos to the Sony cloud (only caveat is that they are reduced in size and quality compared to their native state and that videos and full quality images are limited), and the ability to add additional apps after purchase of the camera. I haven't really gotten into all the possible functionalities of the camera yet but I've been able to easily figure out all the ones I wanted including burst photos, panorama, timer, and macro. I see a lot more potential waiting in this highly versatile camera. Downsides are that it isn't weatherproof, takes less quality photos than a professional level camera (duh), and that additional lenses are not as easy to get as compared to the bigger brands (canon, Nikon, etc) because Sony has less market share (but we haven't wanted any different lens so far).

This is great value, a light interchangeable camera that can take professional photos and fit in the pocket. It can output RAW images as well as JPGs, hence the 'professional' Quality of pictures is good. In use it falls somewhere between a traditional SLR and a point and shoot (even after a year I have not fully mastered all the controls, they are not that easy to access. And the manual is fragmented and 400+pages long. Having the wi-fi connection was not a priority for me; it was hard to set up, but for a while it was nice to have the camera sit on the table next to the computer, press a button, and have the pics effortlessly transfer. But that stopped working long ago, and as for controlling the camera with a smartphone, I can only dream. A main disadvantage is not having a viewfinder, here in S Florida the LED screen is almost useless out of doors in the sun. Do yourself a favor and step up to a better model, at least the a6000. Sony choice of lenses is also very weak, the kit lens is decent but doesnt have a long enough range.

I bought this camera about a week ago and have had a lot of fun playing with it. It is pretty user friendly. Because it has a small body and a larger lens it is front heavy. For the price, I feel that the quality of this camera is great. The camera has face recognition after it takes a couple of photos and will make two photos, one of a group and another of the face of the person it recognizes. The jpg images are huge.
