It's Still Good in 2025!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, I was amazed at this camera in such a small package. Now, I see why this is always recommended for anyone who wants to jump into Content Creation. The biggest drawbacks with the Sony ZVE10 is the battery. The battery drains fast when shooting in 4k 24-30 FPS. You want to have spare batteries. Also, this is being advertised as a "V-Logging" camera. There is no IBIS, which makes things more tricky, if you're into that. Being able to switch out the APS Lens is one of the benefits I enjoyed. I've owned other Sony ZV cameras that didn't have this feature. I already ordered a new APS lens. So being able to jump into this at a decent price is the best feature in my experience. I know this doesn't have an EVF but it does take some decent photos. It has a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS Sensor which is still good! It doesn't have 10-bit which is fine for my liking. Also, having the shutter button and record button separate was another feature I enjoyed. I view this more as a video camera. It is also good at livestreaming, with a dummy battery. There are also some sweet cinematic rigs for the ZVE10. So, you get some clean 4k footage. I think what makes the Sony ZVE10 shine is finding the right lens that is capable to your liking. It's a good overall camera rather a beginner, professional, or enthusiast!

Get out of the studio
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ZVE10 is an impressive little package, even for an APS-C model. Fully loaded with the kit lens, battery, and SD card, it clocks in around 15 ounces. That featherweight build makes hand-holding it for long sequences incredibly easy, unlike some heavier models that can fatigue your hand and wrist. The image quality is exactly what I expected for this market band—solid light balancing and depth of field that keeps up with the competition. The onboard microphone is another standout feature. It’s robust enough that I don’t use an external mic for stationary shots. The included fuzzy wind screen actually works, which is a nice value-add that allows for outdoor shooting out of the box. Having this camera available has opened things up creatively - I feel more confident about doing location-based content that requires less editing and generally just allows for more diverse creativity than the controlled studio enviornment. That said, Sony remains a paradox. The hardware form factor is modern and sleek, but the software feels firmly stuck in the 1990s. The menus are powerful but bloated; I had to dig through three different sub-menus just to connect a standard Bluetooth remote. It’s a clunky user experience that clashes with the camera's agile physical design. It feels like operating a spreadsheet rather than a creative tool. Bottom line: While the menu system is a bit of a drag, it's the only major downside to an otherwise impressive device. The portability and video quality make this an easy recommend for creators on the move.

OUTSTANDING VLOGGING/CONTENT CREATOR CAMERA
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony αZV-E10 (Model: ZVE10K/B) is custom tailored for vlogging and content creation. It is the perfect balance of price, performance, features and functionality for content creation, and it does everything that I need very well. The αZV-E10 is not a new model. It was introduced in 2021. The current αZV-E10 firmware, version 2.02 was already installed. The 2021 kit lens, the Sony SELP1650, 16-50mm lens with OSS (Optical Steady Shot) stabilization, has been replaced with the newer SELP16502 lens with OSS II - improved stabilization, which was released in 2024 concomitant with the introduction of the αZV-E10 II camera. The αZV-E10 offers a stellar array of features and functionality and specifications. This mirrorless, interchangeable lens, APS-C sensor camera is terrific. It is a robust and flexible camera with outstanding hardware and the availability of numerous, excellent E-Mount lenses. The αZV-E10 is compact in size and light in weight, making it easy and convenient to carry and use. The small form-factor and light weight are perfect whether being carried on the street or mounted on a tripod or a compact prompter in a home studio. I have been using it extensively with the Sony GP-VPT3 Shooting Grip/Tripod with Remote Commander. The balance with the kit lens or small prime or zoom lenses is very good both handheld and tripod mounted. The αZV-E10 sensor is a 24.2 megapixel, APS-C, Exmor CMOS sensor measuring 23.5 x 15.6 mm. The αZV-E10 has powerful and outstanding Auto-Focus and Auto-Exposure functionality and offers exposure control with more than a dozen exposure modes, five focus modes, thirteen picture effect modes and seven creative style modes. The αZV-E10 has an incredible array of digital imaging capabilities. The Auto-Focus system is fantastic. With 425 auto-focus points, real-time eye AF (human and animal) and real-time tracking that performs exceptionally, it truly exceeds most other cameras. Exposure control with the 1200 zone evaluative metering system which operates in center-weighted, spot metering and full-screen modes is absolutely outstanding. The αZV-E10 has Sony’s Bionz X image processor which produces excellent images with accurate color rendition, including skin tones. The αZV-E10 image formats range through 14 bit (compressed) RAW providing for excellent post-production editing capability. The αZV-E10 shoots video at resolutions of up to 4k 30 fps (4:2:0 8-bit) (oversampled from 6k) and 1080p 120 fps, and offers a wide range of frame rates (allowing for a variety of slow or fast motion shooting), image sizes and compression schemes. Video functions also include multiple cinema profiles including HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) and S-Log3/2. The αZV-E10 includes a dedicated Still/Movie/S&Q button to shoot 4x slow motion, or 60x quick motion video. The αZV-E10 also features a dedicated top panel button to control background blurring which toggles between a clearly focused background, and a defocused, blurred background (bokeh effect). A convenient “Product Showcase” feature is very useful for product reviews. The feature instantly shifts focus from the vloggers face to whatever object (product) is extended directly in front of the camera for close-up. Audio quality from the three capsule directional microphone on the top housing is excellent. Sony includes a “dead cat” (synthetic fur) wind screen which is helpful when shooting outdoors. The Multi-Interface Hot Shoe supports digital audio with compatible external microphones or flash units. There is a 3.5mm input jack for an external microphone, and another 3.5mm output jack for headphones to monitor audio recording. Monitoring is essential to avoid recording videos and subsequently discovering that the audio was terrible. The microphone jack is behind a plastic door which appears delicate and fragile. The αZV-E10 is equipped with an articulating 3” TFT, LCD touchscreen which rotates from the left of the camera body. The αZV-E10 also supports shooting video in vertical orientation. In addition to the red tally light on the camera body, the touchscreen illuminates a highly visible red border when recording, which is perfect for vlogging. The αZV-E10 lacks an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and is not a hybrid camera. Although a viewfinder may not be considered a necessity for vlogging, it is extremely important for still photography and is often very useful in videography. Even at the maximum screen brightness setting or “Sunny Weather” setting, it can be hard to see the screen in bright sun. Visibility of the small on-screen icons and navigating menus/settings can be a significant challenge, as can setting up scene framing/zoom on a completely washed-out screen. As regards still photography, the αZV-E10 would be an excellent, powerful and flexible still camera, but for the lack of an EVF. Unsurprisingly, there is rolling shutter effect, particularly during fast pans in 4k, which is common with CMOS sensor cameras. Touchscreen functionality is limited and is not available for the multilayer menus, but navigating the extensive menus with the control wheel and buttons quickly becomes a familiar, albeit sometimes cumbersome process. Full touchscreen functionality would be a significant improvement. A strap is included, but a rear lens cap for the kit lens and a body cap are regrettably not furnished. The memory card specifications for on-board storage is SDXC UHS-I or II, V30, U3, C10. No SD card is included. The αZV-E10 has 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 for file transfer, remote camera control and integration with the Sony GP-VPT3B Shooting Grip/Tripod with Wireless Remote Commander, which is a versatile and useful accessory that I use extensively for both handheld shooting and for tabletop tripod functionality. The controls and software are very robust, with many options and settings which afford complete creative control. The online documentation and help files are excellent and comprehensive. The PDF “Help Guide” is a whopping 588 pages. The αZV-E10 is compatible with all Sony E-Mount lenses, and there are many available to choose from. The kit lens is the SELP16502, 16-50mm (35mm equivalent focal length 24-75mm), f/3.5 – 5.6, power zoom lens with Optical Steady-Shot (OSS II) image stabilization. Zoom can also be controlled with either the lever on the lens or with the dedicated zoom lever on the shutter button. Zoom speed is programmable (range 1-8). The camera also has digital zoom. The new version of the 16-50mm kit lens shares some similarities with the former SELP1650 lens but also has significant differences. Both lenses have 9 elements in 8 groups in a compact, pancake body. The barrel of the old lens is metal while the new lens has an all-plastic body. The mounting flange on the camera body is metal, as is the bayonet on the old kit lens and my other E-Mount lenses. My concern is that the plastic bayonet on the new lens will become worn/damaged after being repeatedly mounted and removed from the metal flange on the camera. The lens produces good quality images, but they get soft in the corners at some focal lengths and aperture settings. Of course, it is a slow, variable aperture lens so low light performance can be less than stellar and impressive bokeh can be elusive. The mechanical zoom noise is quieter than on the old model kit lens and is therefore less likely to get recorded in the audio. The αZV-E10 lacks In-Body-Image-Stabilization (IBIS). Mitigating video shake during handheld shooting is solely a function of the lens OSS II. I did a side-by-side comparison of the old kit lens and the new kit lens and found that the image stabilization of the new OSS II lens was possibly a little better. I generally still need to run the video through Catalyst Browse for video stabilization. The αZV-E10 is supplied with one NP-FW50 battery pack, which utilizes in-camera charging. An external battery charger and additional battery packs are available . The recharge time is approximately a couple of hours, but battery life is good. I still keep one or two charged, spare batteries on hand when shooting. The αZV-E10 can run hot during lengthy video recording sessions, particularly at higher resolutions and frame rates. The internal thermal protection sensor will shut down the camera when appropriate. Sony Alpha cameras have proven themselves to be excellent, well-respected cameras. The Sony αZV-E10 meets that standard of excellence! The feature set and exposure controls are so extensive and robust that videography is very well supported. In automated modes, the αZV-E10 produces excellent videos of very high quality, with simplified, automated ease of use. The αZV-E10 will also shoot stills at 11 fps, bracket exposures and shoot with a 1/4000 sec. shutter speed. Low light shooting is good, especially considering the slow kit lens. The ISO standard/normal range is 32,000 and an expanded ISO range of 51,200 is available. Video capabilities are beyond extensive, including Cinema Picture Modes. The customized vlogging controls, features and functionality tailor this camera for optimized vlogging. It performs very well whether doing a talking-head video or walking about on the street. The camera hardware seems to be high-quality. The lens mount is metal, and lens lockup is solid. It is too soon to know how well the plastic bayonet on the new kit lens will stand up to repeated mounting/dismounting. The αZV-E10 body is plastic and is not dust and weather sealed. The body is sleek and handles well. The Sony αZV-E10 is really an excellent camera! It is extremely capable and produces excellent videos and photographs. I genuinely enjoy using the αZV-E10. The size, weight, outstanding features and capabilities of the αZV-E10 really make it an excellent camera for content creation. Of course, I recommend this impressive camera very highly!

Amazing for Streaming! Great Color Balance!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been wanting a camera that was good for vlogging and streaming to the computer, as the DSLR I’ve got doesn’t work well for it. I wanted something that had a display that could be seen from the front while also being on the lighter side, so if we’re bringing it along on a day out it’s not too much to carry. That’s when I saw the Sony Alpha ZVE10, which had all the features I wanted and was a Sony! Pros: - Compact. - 4K/60p and HD/120p. - Can stream without any extra software. - Sensitive Microphone. Cons: - Zoom motor is loud enough to be picked up by the Microphone. Out of the Box: In the box, Sony includes the Alpha ZVE10 APS-C Camera, E PZ 16–50 mm F3.5–5.6 OSS II Lens with cap, Snap-on Microphone Sock, Battery, USB-A to USB-C cable, USB-A Wall Charger, and Strap. There is no separate charger for the Battery, it is charged using the camera through the USB-C plug. This makes it an easier to charge on the go, as you have one less thing to bring with. Camera Software: One thing that is always constant, will be Sony camera’s menu layout. If you’ve ever used a Sony Camera before, you will be very familiar with the Alpha ZVE10’s menu layout. Sony makes it easy to navigate the settings by section them into: Shooting, Movie, Network, Playback, Setup, and Custom. The Custom Section allows you to create a favorites list of settings. There are A LOT of settings, I’m not going to go through all of them, but I do want to mention 2 of the features I found extremely helpful. USB Streaming is one of the reasons I wanted a Sony, as there’s no additional software or feature that needs to be enabled to use the Alpha ZVE10 as a webcam. Just plug a USB-C cable and go. It worked great! The color balance on the Alpha ZVE10 is very good out of the box, such that skin color doesn’t look unnatural or unhealthy. I played around with the Soft Skin Effect, which smooths out the skins imperfections making the skin look healthier and more “flawless”. There are a ton of post filters that can do this effect on apps or recording software, but a lot require fine tuning or just look over the top. Sony’s Soft Skin Effect looked almost natural; I found that the Mid worked the best but even on High it didn’t over correct making the skin look fake. Picture & Video: The Alpha ZVE10 has a 26MP sensor and can record in 4K up to 60 frames per second, with a slow-motion maximum of 120 frames per second when recording in 1080. This camera can do all of it with just the push of a button or turn of a dial. For my uses, I’ve left the Shoot Mode on Intelligent Auto, as it automatically adapts to the environment adjusting the camera settings to get the best picture. There are many different options that can be adjusted but unless you know exactly what you’re looking for, you can just keep it at Intelligent Auto and know you’ll get a great image every time you want to shoot. The quality is amazing, I was very impressed with the auto focus. You can set target areas to focus on, and the camera will adjust between them but even without a set target, when using the camera in USB Streaming it automatically focused on my face then switched to any object I put in front of the camera. This was very helpful, as I often show off something on the camera but usually must spend quite a bit of time getting the camera to focus in. The Alpha ZVE10 just focuses right in with AF on! As mentioned above, the color balance looks amazing. Skin looks flawless with the Soft Skin Effect on, which makes using the USB Streaming even better as you look way better with the Alpha ZVE10 compared to your average webcam! Audio: The Microphone is on the top of the camera and is very sensitive. I was surprised how well it picked up sounds, though as it is on top it picks up sound in almost every direction. Luckily, there is a snap-on microphone sock, that snaps into the flash port to provide some reduction in wind and other noise. It worked well outside, but in noisier environments the microphone does still pickup almost everything around it, an additional wireless mic or 2nd audio source might be needed when recording. Zoom: I found the zoom of the E PZ 16–50 mm F3.5–5.6 OSS II Lens covered all my shooting distances, for streaming and vlogging I preferred leaving the zoom on the lowest or no more than 20mm. The 50mm zoom is almost too much if you’re filming yourself from your hand with a grip. But it is better to have the option. The only complaint I have about the Lens is the volume of the lens motor! While using the camera I realized how loud it was, but then when rewatching the recording the motor is much louder! Which really made me kind of set the zoom then leave it, to avoid having to edit out the zoom sound. When USB Streaming, it wasn’t that big of a concern as I wasn’t using the built-in microphone. Using it: I like Sony’s because they’re usually just easy to work with. Turn it on, switch to the mode you want, and then go for it. It’s that easy. And the Alpha ZVE10 was no different. I was able to take it out of the box, charge it up, and then start shooting and recording right away. The flip LCD screen was great for vlogging and self-taping, being able to see yourself on the screen while recording made it easy to keep everything in frame and in focus, plus when paired with the GP-VPT3 Multi-Function Shooting Grip with the Remote Commander allows you to still control the camera while recording yourself. The camera is about 1lb, just over with the camera sock on, which makes it lightweight enough to hold and use for 1 full charge without getting tired. USB Streaming: As mentioned above, the USB Streaming was one of the main reasons I wanted to get a Sony camera, as it doesn’t require anything more than the Camera and a Cable. My only concern was how long the battery would last, as most USB-C ports on a computer don’t provide enough power to keep the camera going while recording. I found that I could easily get 4-5 hours of streaming, with the little power provided by the USB-C on my computer. If you have a USB-C port with Power Delivery, that could help keep the camera going longer. I’ll be looking into the continuous power supply for the camera next! I’ve been looking for a camera to replace the webcam on our streaming setup, and the Alpha ZVE10 blows all other webcams I’ve used out of the digital water! The better sensor makes the feed look so much clearer and crisp in the same lighting but paired with the color balancing and Soft Skin Effect, you cut out most of the extra work you need to do with a Webcam to balance the light, so you don’t look sickly white or orange. This is a huge step up from any old webcam. Having the LCD monitor able to flip out for viewing and monitoring the exposure has been a great plus. Just like for vlogging, being able to point the camera accurately at yourself, knowing you’re in view with the monitor is key to capturing good footage. Conclusion: If you’re considering a new camera for Vlogging or Streaming, the Sony Alpha ZVE10 is a great option! It can stream without any additional software, charges via USB-C, and has great color balance out of the box. Add in the GP-VPT3 Grip/Tripod and Remote, and you have a perfect bundle to head out or startup a crystal-clear stream! I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this camera for both out and about as well as streaming!

Amazing Little Wonder of a Camera, Compact Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First released in 2021, this camera is now bundled with an updated kit lens (OSS II) and still proves to be one of the very best affordable interchangeable lens cameras on the market. It’s very compact and lightweight, yet has the same photo quality as the other Sony alpha cameras available today. You’ll miss out on an electronic view finder and flash, but take great photos and videos for much less. __ A Video-First Camera ___ Despite it’s familiar looks, it’s important to understand that is camera is designed for vlogging and video recording, first and foremost. There is no electronic viewfinder here, nor a flash, or the commonplace photo-mode selector dial. Instead, a 3-mic array and a big record button are front and center. Switching between photo, video and S&Q with a single button. The body is made of a nice polycarbonate plastic in place of the magnesium bodies in other models while the screen is slightly lesser quality, and battery life is slightly reduced. But even with those differences, it has a lot more in common with it’s much more expensive cousins. 24.2 megapixels is great for capturing both 4k video and still photography - with this model managing to achieve a lower price point, as well as being supremely compact and light body as a result of some of those differences. In short, you get great recording quality without spending hundreds more. If you’re new to vlogging, or even travel photography, this is the camera to get. __ Video & Sound Quality __ I’m not sure if it’s the new OSS II kit lens included or not, but I’ve found this camera to record great footage without the wobble that some reviews complained about a few years ago. Active stabilization uses both the optical stabilization in the lens + digital stabilization in the sensor (causing a crop) but it’s very smooth. No in-body stabilization here. When this is turned off, footage appears much less stable, but I haven’t had any issues with distortion. Despite the crop, I find active stabilization (on by default) to be the way to go. Using a grip, like Sony’s wireless shooting grip, can help increase the distance between you and the camera to compensate for this - and even then, it’s only really an issue if you’re walking/moving while recording. Stationary recordings look fantastic, with improved audio recording thanks to the mic array that’s unique to the ZV models. Just be sure to use the included windscreen (fuzzball) when moving quickly or in any kind of windy environment. This model also supports external mics that can be plugged in on a special side port. __ Other Unique Features & Photography __ The screen, while less fancy than higher end models, still shows your active view with good pixel density. Unlike those other models, it also rotates and flips outward, allowing you to see your screen while pointing the camera at yourself. The screen is placed to the side, so looking straight into the camera takes some practice, but it’s effective and ideal for ensuring that you’re centering yourself in the shot. When it comes to just taking photos, this camera still has most of what you’d want. A dedicated shutter button is still present on the grip, along with a handy zoom toggle. Without a viewfinder, you’ll have to rely on the screen for all of your shots. I had wondered if I’d be able to adapt, but it was actually very easy. So many of the photos we’re used to taking these days are on phones anyway (without a viewfinder) and losing it saves on weight and cost. At worst, the screen may be hard to see in bright, outdoor environments at times. As for the loss of a flash… I’ve never missed it. Flash photography is rarely any good. In the rare case I do need one, I’d grab for my phone instead. Being small and lightweight also makes this camera easier to grab for and take along on trips. And in the end, it still has nearly identical photo quality as much more expensive models, so your shots can be just as good. __ Summary __ Even with pricier models, it’s hard to go wrong with the ZV-E10, even in 2025-26. It’s a great combination of quality with only a few caveats that, given the price, are more than justified. While it’s primarily designed for video, it can also make a great travel camera thanks to its small size and image quality. And if you’re looking for your first vlogging camera, this is a no brainer, giving you a whole ecosystem of lenses to experiment with for different shots.

The Perfect All-in-One Vlogging Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this Alpha ZV-E10 kit for a while now, and honestly, it’s been such a great investment. If you're looking for a vlogging camera that won’t break the bank but still delivers amazing quality, this is it. What I love most is how lightweight and portable it is. I can toss it over my shoulder with the included strap and head out without feeling weighed down. It’s super convenient. The battery does drain faster when I’m filming compared to taking photos, but swapping it out for a spare is quick and easy, so it hasn’t been a big issue. The lens it comes with, the E PZ 16–50 mm F3.5–5.6 OSS II is perfect for my needs and the autozoom is fantastic. It handles both video and photos beautifully, and I haven’t felt the need to upgrade yet. That said, being able to switch lenses is a huge plus if you want to expand your setup later. Audio quality from the built-in mic is surprisingly good. My recordings sound clear and balanced, which is something I didn’t expect from an onboard mic. And the flip-out screen? Total game-changer. It makes filming myself so much easier and more enjoyable. I’ll admit, when I first got the camera, the number of settings felt a little overwhelming. But after watching a few walkthroughs online, I got the hang of it. There’s no built-in flash, but I’ve still managed to get great shots in low light. Outdoor photos, in particular, look stunning, way better than anything I’ve captured on my phone. One feature I keep coming back to is Intelligent Auto mode. It adjusts everything for you, which is perfect when I just want to point and shoot without fiddling with settings. The 4K video is crisp, and the 120fps option makes everything look buttery smooth. And transferring files? Super easy. The Imaging Edge Mobile app lets me send photos and videos straight to my phone wirelessly, which saves me so much time. All in all, this camera has made content creation feel effortless and fun. Whether you're just starting out or looking to upgrade, I’d definitely recommend it.

Fantastic Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera so much! I got it to film/ take pictures for my Japan trip. Removing one star because the screen tear/ stability. I wish for this price point it wasn't an issue, but as long as you're not full speed running with this camera it will do everything you need. Picture quality and video quality is amazing! Definitely invest in a flash and a external mic.

A Companion for Content Creators
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[PROS] Impressive Auto Features: As a creator, you don't want to fiddle with a bunch of settings when it comes to gathering content. The camera makes available a number of handy presets, and I've been more than happy with how the ZV-E10 is able to "intelligently" determine optimal settings when it comes to pictures and recordings. As I moved the camera about different environments, one shot was not like the other, but they turned out well. The outside shots are pretty great even when capturing subjects like plants or buildings where shadows can alter photos. I mainly used it with inside areas like my kitchen area where I have appropriate lighting for overhead and self-facing shots (thanks flexible display) needed for lifestyle and demonstration videos. Perfect Still Shots: This camera makes it so much easier for me get great still images for thumbnails and social media posts. Because of the clarity and vivid details in photos, I usually have less work to do when it comes to final edits. There was only one time where I needed to take multiple shots and combine the together to achieve a desired image. Decent Mic: The internal mic of this cam performs admirably enough. The windscreen does an acceptable job when it comes to filtering out slight wind or other undesirable noise. Furthermore,, I was able to capture my voice without any enhancements or tweaks while on a walk. Despite my satisfaction, I will still use an external mic for my preference if I find myself in this type of scenario again. [CONS] Battery life: Depending on how much you plan to record and document, the battery life is not suited for a power user. I am not that, but I do plan to buy extra batteries if I catch myself in a jam. I usually keep my cam hooked up, but I do love the freedom to not be tethered to a cable. Lowlight quality: The Alpha ZV-E10 with the included kit lens is great for nighttime shots. The aperture range is the limiting factor, however, accessories can always be purchased to make those things better. [CONCLUSION] The Sony Alpha ZV-E10 has been a perfect companion for my content creation. It's more than enough to help get your foot in the door when it comes to vlogging and other media related activities. Its not perfect, but its great for starters. I really truly like it as an everyday cam for capturing, but its not the "everything" cam as it does have a few shortcomings. Nevertheless, I've been very pleased with using it.

Great camera for vlogging or creating content!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a solid camera for creating polished and professional looking content. The ZV-E10 camera body is a solid and proven option that combines quick "get up and running" functionality for beginners with a full suite of advanced settings and on-device options for those that are more advanced. The battery is quick to charge (it charges in the device using USB-C or you can get a - sold separately - battery charger and extra cells) and provides solid, long-lasting power. You can use a standard SD Card or the faster SD Express card for even faster shooting. In use, the camera and included 16-50mm lens provide a good mix of portability and quality. Stills are amazing with the 26MP sensor in all light conditions (you'll note that there's no included flash, so you'll want to get one for the built-in hot shoe) and you get some good optical zoom with the included lens - which you can also replace with other e-series lenses for wide angles or telephoto zoom. Videos are wonderful in 4K or the 1080p high frame rate (slow mo) mode with good color and exposure - and the quality of photography REALLY helps get more viewers for your content. Most of the automatic settings are solid so you can set and forget or fiddle to your heart's content. The large flip out screen makes getting the right shot easy from EITHER side of the camera and the built in microphone is solid, with or without the included windscreen (the windscreen does block the hot shoe, so that might change your mind on using it). You can also connect an external microphone or display if you like, or connect a tripod or other device to the bottom screw mount. So if you're looking for a high end camera for vlogging or creating content (or, really general family use too), this could be just what you're looking for - and from a great brand in cameras with Sony as well - give it a try today!

Excellent and Flexible Content Creation Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony ZVE10, and it's a excellent vlogging and content creation camera. The 24MP sensor is reliable. Face and eye detection works well. It is not going to lose you mid shot, which matters when you're recording by yourself. The 4K at 24p has no crop, which is great. You get slow motion at 1080/120p too. The moving touchscreen is necessary for vlogging or recording content by yourself. The built in mic is good and they include a windscreen which is nice. You can also attach a 3.5mm mic as well. This camera has Cinema Picture Profiles which has been nice to use and works really well for the videos I've recorded. 4K looks really sharp for video recording. I like the one button aperture adjustment to defocus the background. There also skin softening effects with settings of off, low, medium, and high. I've found this to be an excellent camera for content creation. The screen that flips out is a must have feature. The additional mic input, with a good built in microphone are great. The interchanging lens system gives this camera so much flexibility. This is a great camera that doesn't over complicate things, so that you can get start right away and then use the more advanced features as you learn them.

High quality, good price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review for Sony - Alpha ZVE10 and GP-VPT3 Multi-function Bluetooth® Shooting Grip I’ve been a content creator for a number of years and have a degree in Professional Photography. I’ve had a career as a still photographer and a videographer and have often wished my still camera could do better video or my video camera could do better stills. Finding the Sony - Alpha ZVE10 showed me that you can have both. The form factor of the camera is great for travel — lightweight and nicely balanced. The flippable monitor screen lets you see your work as you record, but I have to admit, I’m old school and would prefer to have a viewfinder for outdoor work. The built-in features of the camera like image stabilization and auto focus make vlogging much easier than most cameras and certainly superior to using (even a high quality) phone. Coupled with the GP-VPT3 Multi-function Bluetooth® Shooting Grip, I found it to be easy to shoot video that is both professional looking and engaging. I found some of the default settings for the camera to be perfect — such as the auto focus. Most of the time, it’s great, but when you want to seize control of the focus, it’s easy to touch the screen to manually focus. The camera even attempts to track where you touched. You can return to auto mode quickly. The image stabilization is top notch. Called SteadyShot, the Standard setting uses the stability function built into the Sony lenses, plus you can use the Active setting to further improve any shaking. The camera recognizes when you are shooting horizontally or vertically, which makes shooting for specific platforms very convenient. That said, the grip is great if you’re shooting horizontally, but not comfortable or convenient if you want to shoot vertically. It would be easy to fix this with a flippable head on the grip. While the camera allows you to download footage using either Bluetooth or WiFi, I found removing the SD card from the camera and reading it on my computer to be easier and faster, especially if your WiFi is spotty. Although I found the battery capacity to be more than sufficient for most of my needs, I would recommend having a spare for extended work, especially if you plan to review and/or edit your footage in camera while on site.
