I should have read reviews online more thoroughly before buying this BD player. From a specs perspective, looks great, and picture quality rivals the PS4 for Blu Ray playback. However, the first unit was freezing on Amazon Prime playback every time I used it. I exchanged it and same thing with the replacement. I then read some reviews stating this was a known problem. Back it went. I'll hold out for the UHD players to come down in price, and stick with my old BD player until then. Too bad, really. I loved the PQ when it worked, and it loads discs really fast.

I didn't like it at all had trouble with it and it would cut off part of the beginning and end of the movie

The product works as claimed for the most part. A couple of times it locks up on a DVD claiming in its error message system that the disc is damaged. By inserting it into my MAC's DVD player I was able to watch the complete movie.

I needed a DVD player and was surprised to see the difference between the base model and the upscale model. This has the best of both worlds. I don't use it for 3D viewing but maybe someday.

I have the newer version of this blu-ray player (BDP-S6500) but have had overheating problems with it and decided to try the older unit. It works as well as the newer model and does not overheat.

I was surprised, actually, nearly everything electronic I own is Sony. Never had any trouble. This DVD player arrived. Box looked perfect. I set it all up and it wouldn't open. I pushed the open button. It said "open" I could hear it trying. But it wouldn't open. So I gently pulled on it while it was trying and finally got it to break free had no trouble with opening or closing after that. It was fine up until last night when while watching a bran- new- right- out of the case- movie, it started stalling and then trying to catch up. I checked the movie on another player. It was fine. Tried another player on the tv and it was fine. I could see the numbers that show the count of the movie on the front of the player, stalling and skipping ahead. I'm disappointed. I bought it online to avoid the 140 mile round trip to my nearest best buy. I'm ending up making the trip anyway to return it. My opinion is that it suffered some damage likely from having weight on top of it. Maybe in the warehouse before shipping. Box wasn't crushed when it was delivered but the problem with getting it to open is kinda telling. Don't know what's with the stalling and skipping. Boo Sony

I like most every thing about it. Since I'm old, I just wish it could also play my vhs tapes.

The dvd player seems to work fine, does occasionally lose power, and i cannot erase the previous information on it.

I would probably would have given it 5 stars if my 2 month old sony 65" tv would get fixed by Best Buy geeks.

Bought this unit to replace older Sony blue ray player, works great with usb and Bluetooth options.

No complaints. Does what it's supposed to & then some. Nice remote. Simple setup. Love it!!

NOT ONLY IS SONY USER-FRIENDLY IT HAS A LOT OF APPS; NO SMALL FEATURE COMPARED TO OTHER PRODUCTS.

Good picture quality but unit freezes periodically and must be unplugged which takes a lot of effort since it is installed in an entertainment center.

Lightning killed old player. Replaced with this one. I love it thanks Best Buy.
