Excellent upscaling feature
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent upscaling player whether it is a bluray, DVD or streaming. I test all and the result is stunning. The streaming in particular is very good. Amazon instant is the only app that takes about 1 minute to get HD quality. All other apps like Netflix, VUDU etc it is instant HD. As for the sound, there is lot of improvement. I used to have SONY BDP-S6200 and it is a truly worth upgrade. For those who are interested in 3D, there is no more ghosting with this player. S6200 has very little ghosting when you use subtitles. But this player does not have any.

I expected plenty more from sony.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony TV I have was supposed to synchronize with Sony Blu Ray player but it only plays Blu rays but not the extra content and not DVD and I cannot see my photos with my flash drive. I guess I'm stuck with this set up for a while. I am deeply disappointed with Sony.

I love sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 55" sony 4k tv. This replaces my 6200, which I loved. I don't know that I see a difference, I only used for Blu-Ray viewing, although I think the sound is better? If that's possible. I have some confusion I wish someone would explain. I love Best Buy but when I asked whey the 7200 magnolia line was more expensive than the newer 6500 they said the magnolia line usually has better components. When comparing the settings of the 6500 vs the 7200, the 6500 has 4 more added settings than the 7200. So should I have gotten the 6500? I'm still not clear on that. The 6500 is cheaper but if it is better I'd rather have that but research never was clear about the 7200 vs the 6500. Many compared both of these to the 6200 as better but not against each other. Still I love it, and maybe there isn't much difference? I guess I won't know. I'd rather know if I purchased the better one. If anyone knows can you say something? Sony can you?

Excellent picture and sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right away I noticed the picture quality was better and the sound also improved dramatically. I'm also running the Audioquest Vodka HDMI cables from my 4K player to the Pioneer Elite Receiver, from the receiver to the Tv is also Audioquest Vodka HDMI. I can't express how much HDMI cables make a difference in the overall quality and experience when you watch movies at home. I wish it had a optical out instead of a coaxial. I can't really find anything negative about this product but if you want to take your movie viewing to another level, this player will definitely do the trick. Thanks!

Magnolia rep hit all the right buttons
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was reluctant to invest in this unit because of size price. The magnolia rep knew which buttons would get my attention. I have had the player for only a week and thus far can only say it meets all expectation, plus. The manual does not provide enough information of all the great features. I found several sites on line to help me. The performance is enthralling. After set-up, first movie I watched was Prometheus. The 3D effects were really great. Fantastic sound. This was from disc. I have not tried all the other features, but did find the Browser a bit tedious due to the on-screen keyboard. Although I won't use it very much, I needed to give it a try. My next trial will be screen-mirroring. All I can say thus far, is, Thanks to the Magnolia rep for steering me to a great product.

Loaded with so many features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony 3D UHD 4k Blu-ray Player produces brilliant colors and a superior quality picture on all of the DVD, Blu-ray discs and movies I've watched (both older and newer). The Wi-Fi connect right away and is up and running way faster than my Samsung Smart LED TV... will ever be, (Approx. 4 minutes way too long). It's smooth quiet operation plays quietly like a finely tuned Swiss clock. I would highly recommend this player to anyone who can appreciate the ultimate in quality viewing.

Blue Ray Player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my husband to go with his 65" Sony 4k XBR65X850C, I really didn't think there would be a great difference in watching a movie, boy, was I wrong, this is and awesome player. I was originally going in to buy the model that was on special for $99 and spoke with an associate in the Magnolia Center to asked the difference, he told me that it had a built in processer and that it would make all the difference to the quality of viewing. It definitely does, great buy at a great price.

Major improvments from the BDP-S580
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Positive: Streaming interface much improved. Player is much faster than the old one when Streaming, playing files off a Network or USB port, playing Blu-Rays or navigating menus. Negatives: While the overall streaming interface has been much improved, the option to "Find more like this" has been removed from the Option Menu. That is a big loss, as it was really useful especially when navigating Apps such as Amazon Prime. The player still DOES NOT play AVI files. My guess is that as AVI files have been around for a long time, that there are multiple types of AVI files, and the types that this player supports are not the ones that people use. When the literature says that it plays AVI files, then it should play AVI files. It doesn't.

Cuts off the first few seconds of some CDs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good news first: the image and audio quality for Blu-Rays and DVDs is excellent. Sound quality for CDs and SACDs is also excellent, with one big problem. On some CDs, the player cuts off the first few seconds of the music. There is no work-around for this, and it's very annoying. I noticed it on one CD even though the same CD played fine in several other players (car, an older Sony Blu-Ray player, Bose Wave). I figured if it's just one CD, I could live with it. But now it's starting to do it on more CDs, and I can't live with that. I am hoping this is just a defective unit, so I'll be returning it using my GeekSquad protection plan. Other negatives are the cheap build quality, the lack of any indicators on the front except for the light that shows the unit is on, and substandard Amazon streaming. The Amazon streaming starts off very low-def, and it takes about 30 seconds into the program for the stream to reach high-def levels. This is not a problem on the older Sony Blu-Ray, so I'm assuming it's the Amazon app that is causing the problem. The unit tends to be slow to respond, too. The remote is OK, not horrible but not great. Even with these problems, I'd still give the unit 5 stars if it weren't for the problem of cutting off the beginning of some CDs. For about $100 on sale, it's not a bad player.
