nice when works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is one piece of junk. had this for two months and nothing but headaches. has a great picture when its not locked up. did the update and spent an hour talking to sony support. the problem is at least once a day it will lock up and the only way to turn it on is unplug it for a few minutes and plug back in. this happens at least once a day. it will work fine and you turn it off and later in the day you hit power and nothing will happen until you unplug and re plug it back in. then it will work perfect for awhile. wish i never bought it and will never buy anything sony again. heard from other people with this player having same issues. look elsewhere unless you want headaches. going to take back tomorrow and hopefully exchange for something that works.

Great Picture but still issues

But there still is a lingering issue that I thought Sony would've fixed before I bought it. The player freezes up during Amazon prime video playback. I knew about the issue, but again I thought it would've been fixed. It happened twice so far and I've owned it for a week. Now I'm debating if I will return it.

A great machine

Locks up frequently
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm running the latest firmware, but this thing freezes up way too often, and the only way I can regain control is to power cycle the unit... which requires a real contortion act for my particular setup. It happens often when powering down from the main menu and somewhat less often when powering up. Can also lock up while in Netflix or Amazon. Considering the positive ratings (perhaps they're all Sony employees) and the price of this thing, I hoping Sony support isn't too much of an ordeal because that's where I'm going next.

First two units failed

Right out of the box, with a new-never-played disc, it played fine for about 10 minutes; then signal to tv stopped for 2 seconds, then picture & sounds would return for 2 seconds, and so on... off / on / off / on. Returned it for a replacement (same model). This time - again with a new never-played disc - it worked for about three hours, unfortunately then the exact same fault returned; off / on / off / on / etc. I discovered if I turned off the power and waited a moment, it would then work for about 10 minutes, then fault would resume. Luckily, I took out a Best Buy protection warrantee. I'm curious to see if my third unit will behave itself. While it worked it was great. My only complaint (otherwise) is that the remote is terrible. Definitely not designed to be used solely by touch in a dark room!

Not a 4K PLayer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although it does a good job of upscaling and I like the loaded features, terribly disappointing when I finally bought a handful of 4K Ultra movies today and it won't play them! It upscales but cannot play 4K UHD !!

Failed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used my new Sony 4K Blu-Ray BDP-S7200 player one time. The picture quality was very good, but the next time I tried to use it, the tray would not open. However, the display read "OPEN". I couldn't even power it off. I will return this for a refund or exchange.

Very Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.When I first received this Blu ray player, it wouldn't play a disc. So I unplugged it and started over and it worked ok. After sitting idle for a few months it did the same thing again. So I unplugged it as before but this time it didn't fix the problem and of course the 90 day warranty is past. So after playing about 5 movies total in this player, its nothing more than a paper weight. Almost every component I have is Sony but I'm very disappointed in this player. After reading some of these other reviews, I'm not alone. You would think Sony would warranty one of their best players for longer than 90 days.
