I bought this last month and they are really nice.

First of all, I would like to say that I REALLY hate how all variations of the MDR10 headphone are reviewed in the same location. Before buying this product, I had a hell of a time wading through "Bluetooth" and "Noise Canceling" reviews to find information about the basic MDR10R without those features. It was actually easier to read reviews on Sony's website, which I did. Upon deciding to purchase this product, I went to my nearest Best Buy store, where this product was being sold at MSRP, but was completely sold out. I was directed to Express Lane, where a friendly lady informed me that the product was on sale online for $22 off. She also offered to ship it to my house for free, which saved me a ton on gasoline. I was quoted a delivery date of August 18th, and the product arrived exactly on that date. It was nicely-packed, although the product's box seemed to have been previously-squeezed by some type of cord or wire. The product itself was well-presented in a solid dark blue box, with a beautiful carrying case inside. The headphone design is also very elegant and expensive-looking, compared with the similarly-priced Bose, which looks cheap and plastic-y. The product itself has a nice, clear sound. Although one Youtube reviewer disliked it for having too much bass, I completely disagree with him and find this product perfect for watching TV and Youtube on my computer late at night. I have tried Sony Extra Bass headphones and find them to have WAY more bass than this one. Overall, I am satisfied with this product and hope that it will last for many years to come.

I picked these headphones out based on price and quality

For the price I was hoping for more cancelling of the noise. The case is a joke, cheap nylon bag. First over the ear headphones, so nothing to compare them to.

Background: Having spent too much money on cheap earbuds that either kept falling out or quickly fell apart, I gave the brand Klipsch a try. For the price of the earbuds, I was not impressed. While the sound quality was considerably good, they did not stay in at the gym or on my runs. I decided the only way I would be happy was to go wireless, and let me tell you- these headphones deliver. Don't sell an organ for Beats or Bose, these get the job done just fine and in my opinion look a heck of a lot better. Less bulk and more bang for your buck. I wasn't initially looking to spend $200 on a pair of headphones. But the difference these have already made in my fitness activities makes me feel like they were worth every penny. The sound quality is comparable to that of Bose or Beats by Dre- without the hefty price tag. Coming from those, you may notice a difference in the bass but for the average music enthusiast these should more than suffice. Remember, you're also spending $200+ less (for wireless). The comfort level is UNMATCHED- super lightweight, stay on well, and I absolutely love the around the ear fit. It has this soft, supple leathery texture that is just so nice. This is just an all around incredible design, Sony really nailed it. They have a brushed aluminum look and are anything but bulky. The same soft leather is also on the headband, which provides that added comfort. Gone are the days of stupid earbuds falling out from the tug of the cord. The Bluetooth range is excellent- I had my phone in my gym locker and walked around the entire weight room with no interruption in sound. I was able to easily pause, change tracks and adjust volume via the small, subtle buttons located on the underside One has your power button, charger port and optional cord port and the other has audio and phone controls. That's another great pro of this item- the Bose wireless have this Bluetooth ear growing off one side like a massive tumor. There is nothing sleek about it. I took a phone call and carried the conversation with ease through the built in microphone. You can touch your phone to the headphones and the Bluetooth connects automatically, which is another really cool and convenient feature. These fully charge in around 2 hours and last forever. One last thing I really appreciate about this product is that it includes a cord if you DID want to hook it up to a computer or device. This obviously improves the sound quality but is also just convenient for a student like me who often uses my university's library desktops. I don't think other wireless headphone brands even bother to include that, but for me it sure makes sense to! Overall I am incredibly thrilled with this purchase. I never write reviews but for these I just had to. I spent the longest time looking for a pair of gym/school headphones that weren't uncomfortable or always ready to fall out. These really blew me a way and I am looking forward to finally enjoying my music during my workouts and on the go. These are true over the ear headphones and because they are also wireless they really are the ultimate- perfect for the gym, campus life and everything in between. Do yourself a favor and buy these!!!!!!!!!

For the price you pay for these, they are definitely nothing special. They have no real 'thump'. No real "anything" actually. Frankly for the price, one should be overwhelmed with outstandinding quality. At the very least, I was noticeably and disappointedly UNDERwhelmed. I've had better-sounding $20-a-pair headsets.

I've had a pair of Sony's MDRs for probably 20+ years and I love them but I was ready to cut the cord. As soon as I saw these announced, I wanted to buy them. The sound is good out of the box, but as they burn in it rounds out and they sound amazing after only 40 or so hours. The controls are a little wacky, but you learn them quickly and I appreciate not having something touch-sensitive that will mess up if you brush it. When you plug these in, the sound gets even better due to the expanded dynamic range. I just wish the cord had controls or the ones on the headphones worked with the cord — this seems stupid that they can't, particularly when the other models have an iPhone cord. I also wish they multi-paired like my LGs. This seems like a cheap move on Sony's part, and these aren't cheap headphones. But they're comfortable and the sound is amazing, these are (mostly) little problems.

I don't like a lot of bass in my headphones, usually opting for ones that have a natural or balanced sound. These headphones are slightly heavy on the bass end, but not too much. I think that is to be expected since these are "closed-back" and fit around the ear. Speaking of which, since they fit around the ear you get a bit of outside noise cancellation. It is not active, but simply due to the design. The padding on the cups is quite comfortable and I can wear them for about two hours before I need to remove for a bit. Yes, the ears will sweat after a while, but that is due to the around-the-ear design. Also, the padding will press just slightly on your glasses which you will get used to after a few wears. Nothing major. NFC means that pairing with another NFC-enabled device is very easy.

These were very uncomfortable and the sound was poor. I tried the bose AEW2 Bluetooth set and was very pleased with the comfort and the sound quality. These just do not make the bar.

i just got these in the mail and listened through various genres (jazz, metal, dubstep, rap) and oh my gosh i'm blown away. absolutely the best sounding headphones i've heard to date. being a drummer, i noticed that cymbals and drums sound so perfect it's like i'm standing right there, bass is super clear and clean, and everything in between is perfectly balanced. the build is nice and lightweight, so great for listening for long periods of time. once again, sony has not let me down. plus when i bought them they were on sale big time (almost half off). getchu some, you won't regret it.
