I have been holding out for a while to buy a pair of the Beats bluetooth headphones. I've owned two pairs of Beats in the past and although I liked them, I always felt like they didn't live up to all the hype for the price. I started doing a little research and most of the reviews around here were very positive about this product. I stopped in to Best Buy and picked up a pair of these and all I can say is, WOW. These headphones sound amazing and look good, too! I wore them to the grocery store today and three people stopped me to ask what they were and how I liked them. They look every bit as good as the Beats headphones, are super comfortable, and after listening to them for a couple hours a day for the last 4 days I still haven't needed to charge them up again. I've had them connected to my iPhone, iPad, and Macbook Pro and I can leave whatever device I'm using wherever it's at in my house and go all the way to the basement without losing my connection. This product is a super buy for the price, there is very little chance you will be disappointed with them!

    Comfortable, Simple Headphones

I've had these headphones for a year. I got them as a Christmas present last year, and I've gotten plenty of use out of them so far. They're the MOST comfortable headphones you could ever imagine, which makes listening to audio for long periods of time bearable. The audio quality of these headphones is decent, though the bass isn't great (however, I prefer less, so that works just fine for me). I highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking to buy a pair!

Best Headphones beats the Bose QuietComfort 15, the monster inspiration Noise canceling, beats by dre, and Marshall studios. after doing the side by side comparisons on comfort sound and noIse canceling, these are the clear winners in every department. be warned these are very accurate in sound reproduction. They slightly boost the lower Treble but nothing else. When driven, these cans pump out some serious quality sound across the entire frequency range from bass to mid range to treble. They don't distort. Overall most people who will dislike the sound are more than likely used to listening to bass heavy headphones. If that is your taste stick to monster and beats by dre. Otherwise try to listen objectively and look at the frequency spectrum response from stereos.com and see for yourself that these are accurate headphones which is perfect for my taste.

OK so i tried dozens of diff models after hrs of research online and trying out in stores this was my choice more realistic sound than beats I found most of the others were to much artificial bass or they sounded good until you turned them up or sounded good but were too uncomfortable to wear for any length of time.I can wear these for hrs .they do also have bass just not so much that it sounds out of place across different types of music.if you have an EQ on your music player you can crank up the bass if you like these can take quite a bit. I also like how the ear cups fold and a single sided removable cable.

Purchased these headphones mainly for the active noise cancellation feature. So far very happy with this purchase. Use these mainly for my treadmill workouts which tend to be very loud and noisy, These headphones did the trick eliminating the ambient noise which allows me to watch my netflix movies during these workouts. Headphones also very lightweight and stylish.

These cans sounded pretty bad when I first used them , after 20 hrs of music and games they have really opened up and now sound much better . Bass which was a muddled mess and is now tight and clean , frequency response sounds flat and it has a nice wide sound stage . For the money , buy them online they are cheaper and pick up at store they are a recommend .

    Good sounding bluetooth phones

I have owned many many headphone over decades. I was a recording engineer for many years. I was intrigued by the idea of a good sounding bluetooth headphone (I've had some that weren't). There are inherent limitations in using bluetooth for stereo music. It wasn't really designed for this. New technology and codecs have come a long way and this is a good implementation. The sound is very heavy to the point of being muddy in the bass range and a little weak in the mid range. I made an EQ preset specifically for these phones and I'm now happy with the sound. I am using about a 3db per octave roll off below 250Hz and a little boost in the 1000 to 4000Hz range. I have not had the pairing issues that some people report. One tip is not to have more than one bluetooth device active at once. I had trouble pairing with my MacBook Pro until I discovered that the phones were already paired with my iPhone. Turned off bluetooth on the phone and the problem went away. I have true studio monitor quality phones that sound better than these, but the bluetooth capability is great. By the way, the microphone sounds a bit hollow acoustically, but the sound level is quite good. Phones also have surprisingly good isolation. I mainly listen to high bit rate FLAC's and with the equalization tweaks enjoy the sound. Bluetooth range is only about 20 feet or so. This is probably the result of the bandwidth demands of high quality stereo sound not a fault of the device.

Very Comfy and Smooth Sounding Cans

OK well first off the greatness is these are so comfortable to wear. Now the build looks solid almost everything out there is plastic it comes with a nice case and 2 sets of wires one for phone with built in mic and one for home use. They sound great to me and that's what is important. I recommend anyone that is going to spend over 100 bucks on a pair of headphones to go to your local best-buy and see what you like. It's a great time for anyone shopping for headphones today the world is yours there is something at every price point that you should find pleasing to your ears. Now back to these if your looking for tons of bass get something else these have good bass but what they lack in bass they make up in the highs and mids to almost perfection its a flat sound I was looking for which is a good thing in the audio world. I didn't want anyone sound over powering the other. For the most part I wanted to hear what the artist wanted me to hear. I listen to every type of music. I'm a mood listener, my top choices today Top 40 Pop, Classic Rock exp Pink Floyd, The Door, And Zeppelin, and some Rap. Basically I got the Sony MDR-10R for 148 bucks they were right at my price point I didn't really want to pay more then that and it's what sounded the best to me at my local Best-Buy.

These headphones provide an excellent value for the money. Solid bluetooth sound quality, dual device paring (I can have them paired to a phone or PC for phone calls and my iPad for music, etc). Also includes device controls for playback and call control. Lightweight with excellent battery life. They also include an audio cable for listening to non-bluetooth sources or for use when the battery has drained. Overall I am very happy with my pair of them and the price is very good.

Sony releases the Hertz rating on their product, most other brands don't.. The problem is you don't know what you are getting because they don't want you to know how good or bad the sound quality is. My last pair was BOSE and the sound quality was better. There is no hertz rating listed on BOSE products....for good reason I imagine. These earphones sound good but Bose is a cleaner sound. Not worth the money...I plan to return for BOSE. It seems like there is too much bass and not enough treble in this Sony product....

    Comfortable and Great Sound

I bought these after being very disappointed with the new MDRZX750BN noise cancelling headphones (mainly because best buy advertised them as over the ear, but they also don't stay on your head AT ALL), these are $20 cheaper and ARE actually "Over The Ear" despite not saying so. Extremely comfortable to wear even being a few ounces heavier than the newer models it feels like less due to proper design, no sore ears after minimal use with these bad boys. I ran the battery from charged to nothing giving them a good burn in, honestly forgot I was wearing them at one point. So long term use is not a problem. Since it is a true over the ear design, it does a good job muffling the outside world with no noise cancelling, so if your like me and noise cancelling makes everything sound awful and washed out, or in general just makes your ears buzz, this is the way to go! Built in microphone also turn your headphones seamlessly into a hands-free device for your cellphone; or for the gamers: the ultimate gaming headset.

These are a perfect set of headphones for the average consumer looking for clear, balanced sound at a reasonable price. I listen to a wide variety of music but cannot stand the muddy bass of the big names such as Beats, DNA, SOL, etc. You certainly won't be blown away by the bass on these guys but the clarity is top notch for the price. Perfect for the listener who enjoys a balanced sound beyond heavy bass. These are also the most comfortable set of around the ear cans I have ever worn. They are lightweight and fit well. While I wasn't willing to drop the extra $75 for the NC version, these do a great job of blocking outside noise due to their secure fit. Overall, a great buy!

Last year I picked up and reviewed the MDR-1RBT headphones from Sony, this year they released a "budget" model, the MDR-10RBT and will also be releasing the MDR-1RBTmk2; which will have the same design as the 1RBT. Since one of the issues I had previously was the quality and build of the 1RBT to begin with, the 10RBT has corrected everything I ever disliked about the "flagship" model of the line. The thinner headband (which is metal under the cushion) and more sleek lines are much appreciated for portable use. They picked up a few of the better design cues from the Parrot Zik headphones that were "designed by Stark"; mixing it with the better looking parts of the 1R line, for just a really good looking pair of headphones. These headphones also retail for $150 less than the 1RBTs and weigh a bit less. Some may feel that they used cheaper materials in the 10RBT but I certainly do not feel that way. The materials are on par, with the hinge of the ear cups having a wider turning radius in both directions than ANY of the Sony headphones I've used, besides the "DJ" models that turn all the way around. The ear cups themselves seem to be better stitched and look less "home sewn". The fit of the headphone is pretty loose, but not as loose as the 1RBTs. I prefer that they are a little more snug so I can get a good seal on my head to prevent the headphones from moving. I also have a pretty big head, though not enormous. I am comfortable with the adjustment down about 1 or 2 notches down on each side. Sound quality is on-par with the 1RBT, I think these are slightly less bass-y and a tinge muddier on the low end but over the first 3 hours I used the 10RBTs they progressively got better and more sounded clear. So a burn-in is definitely necessary on these headphones. They will probably sound even better after a week or so. The sound stage on these headphones are VERY wide. So wide in fact that if the headphones move a little (like when I turn to look behind me) the sound actually changes slightly. I'm not sure if I like or dislike this, but it is a little jarring to hear the music change slightly when you turn your head. Most of my listening was done over Bluetooth while working out and though it was good, plugging in through the 3.5mm jack passthrough is where the top notch quality really is. Audio is definitely more crisp and volume levels are slightly higher when plugged in, not that it is what these headphones are for, but allowing the option for cable pass-though should be mandatory now on all BT headphones. Going back to the design, which is what I love most about these guys. On the 1RBT all the ports (usb, 3.5mm) were covered, which for when you want to plug in you have to pull the tab off to charge or plug-in to listen. I hate this feature on any device, when you're plugged in to listen, it looks like you (very poorly) hacked your headphones, with the plastic flap kind of hanging down like your headphone had a hangnail. No longer! Both ports are uncovered (much like the Zik) and not only look seamless, they look down right "industrial sexy". The band around the ear cup is now silver painted instead of black and you would easily mistake them as brushed aluminum at first glance. Plugging a micro USB cable in for the first time feels tight. I wasn't sure it was all the way in at first, about 1mm of the metal plug actually sticks out, so don't try to jam it in too hard. The buttons (VOL UP & DOWN; Power) as well as the toggle for REW,PLAY,FWD are all solid and give a nice throw when you click down on them. Unlike any previous Sony Headphones I've ever owned; the 10R line seems to turn the opposite way when you fold them in. previously my headphones always turned up as I placed them down on my neck. These actually turn down and the ear cup is against my shoulders when I have them around my neck... This is actually preferred by me as debris and dirt could fall into the ear cups while it's around your neck when they're turned up... Cudos to Sony for changing that up. Everything about the 10RBT works better for me than the 1Rs and I'm happy Sony has made these changes. It's sleeker, sexier and still holds at LEAST 95% of the sound quality of it's more expensive cousin, but at a much more palatable price. I even would recommend getting these over the standard 10Rs, as for the $50 extra, it really is worth it to have the option of both Bluetooth or cabled. You'll need to purchase a cable that has controls (VOL, FF, REW,PLAY) on it if you prefer having those features on the cable though (which are included in the 1R). Sony even has added AAC and Apt-X bluetooth profiles this time around, something the 1R lacked... though most of you probably will never use it as no iPhones and many Android phones don't use Apt-X and generally most people don't encode in AAC unless they purchased their music from iTunes directly. My one suggestion for headphones like this would be to have passive controls through the headphone controls when plugged in. It would require a specialized cable of course (that has the 3 stripped 3.5mm plug) but it would be great if when plugged in you can use the same controls as when you're using Bluetooth. As it is when you plug your 3.5mm jack into the headphone, the BT turns off and none of your controls can be used to control the phone.

    Sony Headphones for Smart TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought these headphones to watch tv so my wife would not hear my tv when she is watching tv in the other room. I have tested these for the last couple of days. It takes 3.5 hours for a full charge to get 25 hours of charge time. This meets my criteria for charging. It uses a lithium battery so it should last awhile. The downside to this is that they are heavy and the speaker headphones cover the entire hear which makes them hot if you watch tv for four hours. You cannot lay down in comfort in them and my ears actually sweat while wearing them. Sound is good and in fact improves on the Sony 4K Smart TV sound since the speakers on my smart tv emit sound down and out to the side instead of directly at you. They are also heavy. Setup on the TV was guesswork as I had to guess which port was the stereo port. It was a green circle on my tv on the left side of the tv as you look at it. Main points sound quality was good, headphones were heavy, charging is good, tv setup is guesswork to some degree. I will keep them but they are not my first choice. If I find some better I may consider buying them.

    Good Noise Canceling Headphones

The price was right. Somebody was giving these away. All they needed was ear pads so I replaced them. The AAA battery isn't required but the music sounds brighter and louder when the battery is switched on. The noise canceling is good. It blocks out sounds like a refrigerator, fans, heaters, etc. The only drawback is that there is too much bass. Turning the bass down from the source should take care of that. The only other thing is that they are over-priced. I think they should go for maybe $100.00

Went into Best Buy and saw the Bose setup, monster setup, Marshall setup, and Beats setup. I'm very meticulous and picky with headphones and because these were gonna be for music production, I was gonna choose. After 2 weeks, I was set on buying the Monster DNA Pros, but then I saw the Sony set up. And I saw these. Attractive and looking well built. I tried them, and WOW. Swept me off my feet. Since buying them, Ive had the best experience with them. Best headphones I've owned so far. Well worth it.

I was in the market for a higher end headphone and tested the Bose qc 15, beats studio and this. In store demo made this one sound the best. Bose sounds good but volume and bass is limited. Beats sounded good but the demo track was not what beats studio is built for so I went with this. After listening at home and playing everything from the eagles to lorde the mid range and bass was pretty disappointing and vocals were just so-so. Going to switch this one out and try the beats... We'll see how that sounds.
