Sony quality; reasonable price; poor sound

Sony picture quality, as expected. Disappointed with the sound and poor placement of input/output connections and manual power, channel, and sound controls. Stand was a little funky. TV could have been higher to accommodate the Sony HTCT-370 sound bar in front.

I have an LG and a Samsung (both smart), so I thought I would add a third TV to our house. I won't go into why I chose a different brand than either of the two I already had, but I have my reasons. In any case, fortunately the "smart" part of this TV isn't my primary reason for having it. If I wanted to surf the web with a smart TV, I would recommend a Samsung. Of the three, it's web browser experience is the best. Sony doesn't support a mouse interface, so you must use the collection of apps they have available. The app I use most is the YouTube app. Both the LG and the Samsung provide a better connection experience to the YouTube app than the Sony, but only marginally better. In short, for picture quality, my 48-inch Samsung is best, followed very closely behind by this 48-inch Sony. The 47-inch LG that I have is a step behind the other two due to a rainbow reflection issue in the black areas of the screen when lights are on in the room. I would not recommend the Sony if you want an Internet connected TV. If you want a great picture, and a reasonable price, the Sony model without Internet would be a good choice.

When we decided to buy a bigger TV, we had a choice between Sony 48" and a Panasonic 50". After studying both TV's in depth, we decided to go with the Sony Bravia. Although it may be a few inches smaller (the difference is negligible), the Bravia is a much better purchase. As a Smart TV, it has great connections with Netflix, Hulu and Youtube, and the picture quality is excellent. The only downside, which seems to be a common thread, is that the speakers are not as good as the rest of the package.

Setting up the TV was straight forward and the features available exceeded my expectations. Numerous apps are readily accessible and easy to use. I love the way you can mirror on the TV what is on your phone easily. Great TV at a great price.

Very sharp picture, come with wall mounting kit. No need to buy a TV wall mounting hardware which saves me at least $40. Lighter than a wall mounted picture frame. Extremely satistisfied with this purchase. I would highly recommend to a friend.

Very good pictures, many good features. 4 HDMI inputs, but was not able to plug my ROKU stick into three of them because of the configuration, and they say that the fourth is reserved for the Cable input , if I read it right (got to recheck this). Some fading from the side, but extremely good picture head on - not unusual for an LCD set. No RCA plug output for sound, only an optical output. I was able to connect this to a Vizio sound bar and teach the sound bar to learn my SONYT audio commands, but hardly intuitive. A variable RCA output would make the process easier. All in all, I recommend this set - I am sure that no set in this price range is perfect, but this comes pretty close.

This is a great TV for the price. Sony has the best picture quality in my opinion, and it has 4 HDMI ports as where the equivalent Samsung only has 2. My previous TV is a 40 inch Sony, and this new 48 inch weighs less than the old one.

We did side-by-side comparisons of the Sony Bravia 48" model with other TVs similar sized and priced TVs. Very good picture quality. This was our first experience with Smart TV's - found it easy to navigate through the various apps.

This TV was the best picture I saw in this size and price range. Originally, I was going to get a Toshiba 55" as I have a Toshiba 39" from a few years ago, that I love. However, when I looked at the picture at such a large screen size, it didn't matter if it was HD, the resolution wasn't as good. When you get that big, you might as well have a 4K, which I could not afford and don't want to buy without the companies finding and fixing the issues since it is so new. In the store, they were playing the 4K reel on this TV and it was almost like I was watching it on a 4K TV. So happy with this TV and the clear picture it provides. If you are looking for a decent size and clear picture, this is the TV for you. The sound is also pretty great. All around wonderful TV and I'm very happy about the purchase.

Over the years I've continued to return to Sony for my LCD television needs. I know that some years Samsung seems to be making the better televisions. Then Panasonic. Right now it seems like LG is generally the better brand, but my satisfaction with Sony keeps me coming back. I researched my options for about a month before pulling the trigger on this 48-inch for the bedroom. Moving up from 32 I was rather overwhelmed by the giant change. However, I have zero regrets. As my 32-inch Sony was about 8-years old I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of changes that were very welcome. Deeper black levels, more consistent brightness across the screen and corners, and better colors right out of the box. I've made very few changes to any of the default settings the unit came with and I'm pleased with it. Mind... I'm not a videophile looking for the perfect gamma setting, etc. Two big kudos for this model: the nice matte screen keeps reflections out of the way (Sony's have always done a good job at this) and the stand is very smart in my opinion. Too many of the models that have been coming out from all manufacturers over the past 6-12 months have frequently made use of 'feet' located at or very near the left and right border of the screen; towards the corners. I'm certain these are no better than the more traditional, centrally-located stands, but simply a design change. My problem with them is that this means a wider television must have a stand wide enough to accommodate these more widely-spaced feet. A central stand means the television stand itself doesn't have to be very wide to accommodate a wide television. The metal, centrally-located stand which comes with this Sony is perfect. Centrally-located. Sturdy. And yet more delicate looking than many other stands. I'd be happy and proud to call this my television room t.v., but for now it's in the bedroom and I suspect, if dollars and cents are kind enough, I'll purchase it's bigger brother for the t.v. room later this year. I think that's a ringing endorsement.

I replaced an older Sharp LED Flat screen with this Sony Bravia Smart LCD. The picture is very crisp and with a doubled refresh rate the presentation of all broadcasts is seemingly flawless. To date I can find no faults with this set.

We keep TVs till they break. (Zenith19" color TV from 1977 still works. That's back when folks built to last.) Our Zenith from the 1990s broke and we decided to get a flat screen at long last. We researched ahead of time but still were afraid when we went to the store we'd be intimidated. The salesperson was fantastic! He's a teacher so understood when we needed things explained and honed in on what was important to us. We weren't oversold either. We walked out happy. We also worried about setting up the TV since things never seem to be as easy as described. However, this was as the salesperson said. We had it set up that evening. My husband works long hours and has no patience for technical things. This was as the instructions indicated and worked well with our Verizon FIOS setup. The picture quality is amazing.
