These are awesome speakers for the need. I use them as book shelf speakers. Attached a Bluetooth amplifier to it to make them wireless and they sound high end. Great value for the price.

I bought a vintage 1992 Sony Stereo stack, complete with Receiver, CD changer, tape deck and radio receiver. I needed speakers that could be connected by bare wire and these the least expensive option. But the sound is not cheap. The system sounds better than new. Great treble/base balance.

We wanted speakers that would produce high quality sound with a low profile and price. These speakers were just that!

Two of my four Paradigm Titan main speakers started to go bad, and I wasn't ready to invest in a whole new setup, so I wanted to get some inexpensive replacements to use as rears for the time being. To be honest, these sound just about as good as the far more expensive Paradigms! Honestly, I was blown away by the sound. The only knock on these is that they're kind of plain-looking, but they have a huge sound for their small size. I'm very happy with them.

Absolutely phenomenal sound for my audio technica turntables. Lots of power and usability and very easily paintable with Bluetooth.

Sound great. Affordable. I use them for a surround setup but could be for a record player or music area.

The only reason I am only giving these powerful bookshelf speakers 4 stars is due to the weight of these things. They are very heavy. I would not recommend trying to attached these directly to a wall unless you are dealing with studs. If you don't have a shelves to place these speakers, I would recommend getting some speak stands. And, you need to make sure that you buy stands that will be able to hold them. Besides the weight, these are great powerful speakers that will work well in large living rooms or man caves.

In no way do I consider myself an audiophile so take my review with a grain-of-salt! I was looking for a cheap speaker to listen to my albums from the 80's that have been in a box for decades. I have a Realistic STA-2150 receiver with a Pioneer PL-514 turntable that also had been collecting dust. The Realistic says to only use with speakers having an ohm rating of 8-16 and these speakers are 6, but I intend to play at a relatively low volume so hopefully it wont be an issue. The sound quality is good but the albums need to be cleaned up and I'm not sure about the age of the turntable needle so any "snap, crackle , pops" that I've heard I contribute to the input source. I've only listened to these speakers a couple of times since my purchase but so far they've done what I want which is to transfer sound from my albums to my ears without breaking the bank and they have succeeded in that. The reviews of the speakers that I've seen on-line don't list them as the best speakers on the market; but for "bang-for-buck" they are always near or at the top. At $82.99 (open-box) for me it was a no-brainer!

I bought these to replace two large tower type speakers as the main speakers in a 7.1 surround system. I am an audio engineer, so I'm pretty picky about how things sound. For as small as these cabinets are, they really sound great, nice response across the audio spectrum. I haven't had to turn them up very loud to get decent low end and the mids and upper mids in the vocal range are crystal clear. Very happy with this choice!

I bought these speakers two years ago. I have four of them, plus two Atmos speakers and a subwoofer, all connected to a Sony STR-DH790 receiver. The sound I can experience from these things is superb. I purchased them all in open box - excellent condition, though I had to return a pair as one wasn't functional. No problem, the replacement pair I got in the same condition/discount works great. I'm not sure how much nicer the floor standing speakers may sound, but I do not feel like my system is lacking in any way. The subwoofer handles all of the low frequencies. My two front speakers also handle the center channel. I have the Sony center speaker, which is terrible sounding compared to these two speakers creating a phantom center channel. Dialogue is crisp, and sound is accurately positioned around me for when I'm playing video games.

These speakers are simply wonderful. They have a crisp, clear sound and don't break the bank on cost. I currently am running these on my Sony STR-DH590 Receiver and they work flawlessly. As a newbie in the home audio space, the setup and install for these was very beginner friendly and I was up and running within minutes.

I bought these on a recommendation from Reddit. They have excellent sound quality and are easy to hook up to any system. They are priced far lower than comparable products.

I love these things. To be fair, I upgraded from a really not-so-great pair of Denon speakers from a thrift store; BUT, either way, I love these speakers. They’re loud, music sounds great, no complaints from me. And on sale you can’t beat the value.

In June, I replaced my 30 year-old Sony Prologic Receiver with a Sony STR DN590, just so that I could continue to use my existing 5-channel set-up. With the addition of a PSW10, my 30-year-old Yamaha 3 way front speakers sounded great with bass, but with treble and mid-range, not so much. I began reading reviews of suitable replacements, and the Sony SS-CS5 seemed to stand out for sound quality, construction, and price. I placed my order with Best Buy, which pleasantly surprised me by delivering them two days earlier than expected. Upon hooking them up to my receiver, I tried them on some of my heavy-bass favorites, and they blended with the PSW10 "like a seamless garment", as good if not better than the Yamahas they replaced. Better still was their high-end performance with vocals, which the Yamahas could never attain. I paid $50 each for those Yamahas in the early 1990s, in 2021 dollars, the SS-CS5s cost less for better all-around performance. I am actually considering replacing my old DIY surround speakers with a second pair of SS-CS5s. Great job, Sony! Great price and service, Best Buy!

works very well. Short, sharp, heavy bass beats and an ultimate flat for movies like war of the worlds with Tom Cruise. I was gonna buy a diff one, glad my sales person pointed me to this one. He a cool dude yo!

Sturdy built and Sony well designed. Way better sound than I expected for the price point and also being small speakers. I bought these for a Yamaha shelf unit to get a bigger sound but still remain clear when pushing the small amps volume. These sound great with the 3 way projection. Good bass, mid and highs. Also I use Monster Cable and heavy duty wire connectors. These offer 3 ways to make connections.

I currently own a wide variety of vintage tower speakers that I've collected over the years. I set up a sort of Frankenstein system by trying to piece together a center, fronts and surrounds from the random pairs of Pioneers, KLHs and Sanyo towers, and I had a great full sound, but watching films was always a disappointment. The center speaker sounded totally different than the fronts, the fronts were deeper and more full than the surrounds, so in any film where sound is moving around the room, immersion was broken and I knew I could do better. The solution was simple. get a matching set of 5 speakers, but they all have to be able to handle dialogue. 5 centers was my first consideration, but thankfully these speakers went on sale and I jumped at the chance. I purchased 3 sets and my system has never sounded better. I use them as the center, front, and surround channel speakers on my Yamaha Aventage 780 and a Yamaha 215 subwoofer. Highly recommended. My only criticism would be to avoid the Sony CS center channel speaker. I did purchase one assuming it would be appropriate for the set I was putting together, but the center channel speaker sounds nothing like the bookshelf speakers. I returned it and just went with CS5 bookshelves for the whole set.

For one thing I never write a review unless I am flabbergasted and mouth on the floor impressed.. WHICH I AM RIGHT NOW....I can barely speak right now, I am so blown away by the sound of these speakers, for the last 3hrs I have been in amazement of how incredible they sound. I have a pair of IL40's by Infinity that were $1200 for the pair that I have had for a long time, nothing ever touched them in sound. ..... Until.....Now..... I think I may be ruined now.. lol... anyway the key is placement on these speakers, I put them on top of my entertainment center about 4 or 5 inches from the back wall.. they sounded really good and beat out my Klipsch 51-m immediately I could hear an improvement over them and they cost more than twice as much as these.... then I moved them out from the wall about 8 3/4 inches..... and the sound quality went up 10 fold.. . at that point they sounded better then my Infinity's which I didnt think would be possible... The sound is so full and clear... I have them hooked up to a Yamaha 995 receiver that puts out 100 watts per channel... The bad reviews may have been from bad placement to the wall, etc. The price is unreal because I felt like I just purchased a pair of at least $2000 speakers based on sound alone.

I bought these 3-way speakers to replace some old and large Advents that I was using for the back surround sound speakers. I was going to have to get them re-coned a second time (they were over 35 years old) or buy new speakers. Not only are these 3-ways from Sony smaller, but have a great sound (plus got them on sale).
