Customers recognize the Cyber-Shot HX90V's excellent zoom capabilities and impressive picture quality. Its compact size and ease of use are also frequently praised, along with the helpful flash and additional features. A shorter battery life is the main drawback reported by some users.

I'll preface this with that I have a WX-350, and I've been extremely happy with it. I thought I wanted a boost to 30X zoom from the 20X zoom, and found that it wasn't so much of a difference that it justified the upgrade.
That aside, the HX90V and WX-500 are *almost* the same camera. The HX90V adds GPS, manual focus, and a popup OLED viewfinder. The viewfinder is really what adds the extra Benjamin or so to the price, and the viewfinder worked well for many situations that the rear screen wasn't as convenient. I found the tilt screen to be more useful than the viewfinder. (The viewfinder requires two steps to open and close it)
If I could pull a quarter of a star, it would be because even though there is a manual focus, it was initially difficult to get the camera to focus on exactly what I wanted, especially when zoomed in. There was a bit of a learning curve to it, and the manual focus worked best on the rear screen.

After a year of reading camera reviews without making a decision I bought the Sony on impulse just days before leaving for vacation in the Canadian Rockies. Great decision!!!
It has great 30X optical zoom, fantastic resolution so I was able to zoom in on a fledgling osprey, take the picture and then further zoom without any distortion!
The Rockies were the perfect place to become familiar with all the camera features. It's a small camera but absolutely packed with sophisticated features - many I'll never use - but the pictures are fantastic!
Typical of current cameras there are multiple menus within menus and it took me a few days to discover pressing the shutter release button returned the display to viewfinder mode.
I don't like the pop-up viewfinder. It is very tiny and hard to use if you wear glasses and have arthritis!
The camera is surprisingly heavy for it's size but it easily fit it in my front jeans pocket.
Love the wi-fi capability!

I have had many sony cameras through the years, and this one keeps up with the quality. It is portable, and can fit easily in a pocket, which is why I bought it. It has good quality images, and video. The only downside is that the flash does not pop up automatically, you have to raise it yourself. That can be good when you don't want it, but bad when you are rushing and forget to lift it.

I used this camera during my trip to Europe in place of my Nikon with a large lens. The HX90V has an excellent zoom in a small, easy to handle camera.. It also takes fantastic pictures. The only negative is the location of the movie button. The position of my thumb when holding the camera resulted in my accidently taking movies when I wanted to take still photos

I was looking for a camera with a view finder so that I could take pictures in bright sunshine and actually see how it was going to look. This camera gives you a choice to either use the pop up viewfinder or the screen. It takes great pictures and has a pretty decent telephoto lens. My only complaint is that the flash isn't auto... It does tell you when it needs it, then you have to press the button to raise the flash. It's easy enough and very accurate about lighting. Very good camera and worth the price.

This camera has all the bells and whistles for being so compact. The zoom is unbelievable. The on-board manual is great. It answers my questions as they come up. Picture quality is fantastic. But, what else would you expect from a Sony?

Huge zoom. They finally added a viewfinder and articulared LCD screen. Wifi is built in and you can send your photos to a computer or as I prefer, my lPhone or iPad. Very small and compact. Big improvement over the previous model.

Camera exceeded my expectations. Great quality pictures and gives you options to make minor adjustments after the picture is taken. Offers so much for a camera that is still small enough to fit in your pocket.

Nice small camera. I'm more likely to carry this with me than the large Coolpix that I used to have. Pic are nice and clear, controls are intuitive. There are more features to learn by so far so good.

I would of given this camera a five star. But the good about it. I am a blogger / film maker. It was great for videoing and pic. And it's nice that the screen flips over so you can do a selfie or you can see if your self in frame. I love this camera. Even I love cannon but this is the next good choice. I love how it can stabilize photos and video. The autofocus works amazing But when I do put in my poket it will turn the wheel for the settings. Then it will say turn off then back on. Little a prob. But get a case for it then it would be good.

We have bought many Sony products before and have always been satisfied. We have two larger Sony cameras that continue to meet our standards. This time we are planning a trip to WDW and wanted to go small and light. We wanted the convenience of both the touch screen and view finder so that was a selling feature for us. It zooms in pretty good but one has to steady the camera the more you zoom in. That happens in every camera. This camera is easy to hold if you know where, light but small so if you need more room to grip a camera, I suggest a bigger model.
