Superb camera. I use this primarily as a work camera that requires fast operation and acquisition of my target and this camera has not let me down. Outstanding optical and digital zoom capability and quality with ease of manipulation on this bridge camera. Durable and good ergonomics in the design of this camera housing and functioning pieces. I've had great success taking pictures of people, animals, and landscapes. Great quality in photos and 4k videos. I have not used the bluetooth functions yet, but a friend has told me that the bluetooth is great. Amazing value for the pricepoint. Robust menu functions allow for tailoring specific shots. Good digital display that also tilts up and down only and has a little telescoping capability also. No horizontal tilt with the display. My only two complaints have been with the date and time function and operating the camera in extreme heat situations. It says that there is a date and time function, but this camera only does the date as a display on images. I have to use another program to at time when I need to for work. The camera works very well in all temps but becomes slightly glitchy when zooming in temps above 105°F (Arizona temps). When the camera heats up inside these issues presented themselves. On the adverse, when I keep the camera cool, even when in the hot environments, the camera has not issues and performs great. I definitely recommend this camera.

This is my fourth camera in the SONY RX line. I started with the initial RX10. As SONY introduced the next iterations, there were notable improvements. The RX-10iii was an excellent camera in particular: fast lens, great range. But, with the introduction of the RX-10iv, SONY made it impossible for me to not move on. Same superb 24x600 mm ZEISS lens, 20 megapixel 1" sensor, recent modification removed the slight delay when shooting moving objects such as birds or planes. This is a Point and Shoot camera (meaning the lens is permanently fixed to the body ... unlike DSLRs, which have removable lenses. It has a wealth of controls, but also takes absolutely superb pictures in AUTO mode - for those wanting to get right down to just plain getting great shots without wrangling with manual settings. The camera itself has the heft and feel of a DSLR and, with that 600 mm range and low light capability of that very impressive Carl Zeiss lens, I offer the suggestion that this camera would fit the needs and desires of very many budding photographers. Additionally, this one camera replaces a bag full of heavy/expensive lenses. You'd have to have had to lug heavy camera bags housing a DSLR and an array of lenses to appreciate this previous sentence! :-) I have tried many cameras (including DSLRs and expensive lenses), but have always returned to the SONY RX-10 line. The pictures I've taken, per my subjective viewpoint, are excellent. What else is there? Go into Best Buy, the folks at the Camera section will be more than happy to let you try one in the store (no, not getting any AttaBoys for this!).
I’ve only had this camera about a month. Used several times and found it to be really great...so far. I’m usually a Canon person, but after selling all my DSLR equipment I compared bridge cameras from several different brands. I compared Canon, Sony, and Panasonic. I watched numerous videos on each and found the Sony RX10 iv the best choice for my needs. I’m sure there will be people who love Canon and or Panasonic, so I’m not going to say SONY is best. This camera is definitely easy to hold and the buttons/dials are easy to access. My fingers feel comfortable holding it and they’re not touching (accidentally) any of the buttons. The zoom is amazing. My pictures are very crisp and clear. The camera has a ton of features. Because I was a Canon person, the menu is taking a little getting use to for me. I’m not saying it’s impossible, it just takes time. The camera came with an extra battery as part of a bundle which was awesome. I would suggest getting the Sony battery charger for it. The means of charging is a very short USB cord. For the price I think a charger should have come with it. The AF is great. The features (overall) are amazing. I would suggest watching some YouTube videos from several different people to see what they show you and that it’s not just one persons (bias) opinion. I believe you’d be happy with it if you purchased it. For health reasons I needed to down size and not lug around so much gear.

I got to know this Sony model at work, and when I retired I missed it having it around. I’ve never had a camera work so hard to get usable images before. My first time using it was a high-pressure moment in which I became a replacement photographer at an outdoor event. I hadn’t had a chance to acquaint myself with the camera yet. Also, when it’s bright and sunny out I always find it difficult to feel really certain about focus and exposure, it doesn’t matter how good the LCD is. I put the camera in “green box” mode (camera makes all the settings choices without my input), the event finally ended and I went inside and pulled the images off the card. I could not believe how many beautiful images there were, I honestly thought there would be none, and a client I’d be making excuses to. Understand this is a camera not designed for stellar low-light performance, you have to spend a lot more to get that. But for all other purposes, it’s a headache-relieving design. Glad to have found an open-box one at Best Buy!

If you are interested in having good zoom in a camera then this is the camera for you. Compared to others in its class it knocks them out of the water. it feels high quality and not too bulky. One thing though, it is NOT cheap.

I bought my first RX10 IV from a different retailer, but I had to return it due to dust inside the camera that appeared in the photos. Why did I purchase the same camera again from Best Buy, given that problem with the first camera? The answer is that no other all-in-one super-zoom can produce photos as sharp, with the autofocus performance and accuracy, as can this camera. It's that good. The phase-detection autofocus and Zeiss lens are superb, and there are many options available in the controls to help you tailor your images to your liking. The RX10 IV can shoot at ranges from extreme telephoto to wide angle and macro - and produce excellent results rivalling full professional camera systems at all of these ranges. Most often, I photograph wildlife, mostly birds. That makes the sharpness and autofocus performance of the RX10 IV especially welcome. However, to take advantage of that performance and enjoy the benefits this camera offers, you have to do the reading necessary to learn how to program the various functions to produce the results you want in your photos. You need to download the full instruction manual from the Sony website, and I also bought the book on the RX10 IV by Alexander S. White, which has better explanations of the controls and functions, and how to use them to produce the results you need. I also recommend that you buy a spare battery and the Sony battery charger that plugs into an electrical outlet, good memory cards, and a quality clear lens protector that screws onto the end of the camera lens. I also chose to put screen protectors on the top and rear displays, although some photographers find this unnecessary. The only thing I can think of that would make this camera better would be a lower retail price, and less-expensive external flash unit options - but that is not vital for my use of the camera in most situations. Overall, this is a superb camera that can do what you want it to do very well. If you can't carry around a full-size camera with detachable lenses, this is the next best option for high-quality photos, and the performance in some ways exceeds that of professional DSLR's and long lenses, at a fraction of the price of those systems.

Great camera. Purchased as a “carry with me always” camera as opposed to taking a dslr + one or more lens….gets heavy! Example is the zoo… you may need close up or far off. This provides both. Does have a learning curve. Only complaint is I was told it would arrive 6/9 but it did not come until late afternoon on the 10th and I had to leave town before it arrived so I lost a week of my 15 day return policy….since I don’t plan to return I did not complain

I spent a considerable amount of time researching bridge cameras before settling on the Sony RX10 IV. I wanted a camera that could replace both my aging Canon DSLR and a Canon point and shoot camera. My requirements were the following: long zoom, the ability to shoot panoramas, a Bulb mode for long exposures and the ability to capture location information. It came down to this camera and the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ1000 ii which both met all my requirements. I reviewed several photography sites as well as Best Buy and a couple of other retailers before coming to the conclusion that the Sony was the better choice for me even though the price was significantly more. A couple of issues swayed my decision to choose the Sony. First, Panasonic had some issues with customer service and second, their iPhone app that is used to capture location information received generally poor reviews in the Apple app store. The Sony app also had issues, but I've found a GPS logging app that runs on iPhones that will capture location information so that issue is solved. The final issue was that the Panasonic was generally not available to purchase at well known retailers. The Sony was available at Best Buy and I was fortunate to obtain an open box-excellent model for a couple of hundred dollars under list price. I've had a chance to play around with the camera and have down loaded the user manual. Some people have complained that the camera's menu structure was complicated. It is very elaborate, but I've found that the functions I need most are available via the Fn button. I'm sure I'll learn others over time, but it does not seem overly difficult. The camera has much more capability than I will probably need, but I'm looking at this as a long term relationship that will take time to grow. I intend to take the camera on a trip to Iceland in mid-September to put its capabilities to a real world test. I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

I love this camera. The image quality is very good, not as good as my EOS R but very close which is very good for a one inch sensor compared to a full frame sensor. The auto focus is amazing also. This is my new favorite walk around camera. It’s not compact by any means but similar to a smaller DSLR. To get similar photos with my EOS R would require carrying around a seven to ten pound camera bag with assorted lenses rather than this two pound bridge camera.

Sony's RX10 is an incredibly capable camera. As a professional I never thought I would purchase a bridge camera but the ability to capture 4K video on a 24-600mm F4 lens is something that I couldn't pass up. I use this camera as a 3rd camera next to the Sony a7Sii or a7Rii. It has Slog which can be graded to match color nicely and just able all of the camera settings and capabilities as the a7 series. For photos the IV added higher and longer FPS which is great for sports or any fast passed action that needs speed and great autofocus. And doing so at 600mm is unreal. Definitely check it out. It is one of the most versatile camera on the market and for under $2k it's definitely worth it.

Excellent all in one camera. A bit bulky but easier then carrying a camera bag and lenses on a hike. Fast sharp focus.

The Sony RX10 IV is a great camera. I've had it for a while and I'm still learning how to use all the features. It's a bit....actually a lot... more complicated to use then a point and shoot camera, but you can choose to use it like one and let it automatically make all the adjustments/settings. It's a big camera and very similar to a DLSR in size. The big advantage is no lenses to change and the zoom is quite impressive. Battery life is pretty good but it's nice to have a spare, or two, on hand in case you're going to be taking lots of pics or shooting vids. Overall, an impressive camera that can do a wide range of tasks quite well.

This camera is fast, has fantastic zoom capabilities, works well in low light and takes great pictures. Because of its outstanding zoom capabilities it is a great travel camera, since you do not need to carry multiple lens. In automatic mode it is easy to use for a beginner, however it also provides functions that permit more experienced photographers the joys of creativity. A great camera.

This is an impressive camera. It has a great lens range (you have a good telephoto with this) and produces nice sharp photos throughout its range. its fairly light when compared to a DSLR and easy to carry around. In other words it is a nice camera to take with you when you do not want to fuss with a DSLR with various lens.

Love this camera. Yeah it's a bit pricey but honestly this is worth it. I think it comes up a bit short on portrait photos but the zoom is so worth it. If you attend sporting events, bird watch or really anything in nature this thing will do the job for you. It's not small but it's not so big as to be unwieldy and since it's a fixed lens it's less of a challenge to get into some places where detachable lenses are seen as "professional cameras" and forbidden.

Idiot proof. Seriously love this camera. Takes great action shots of birds. The zoom is incredible. Very light compared to my Nikon DSLR so it's fantastic for waking on trails without the clunk of a big lens and camera.

The RX10 is ideal for wildlife photography - especially birds, my specialty. Brings them in close with the 600mm zoom lens. Lens is dedicated no no extra lenses to carry around. And the camera is very lighweight.
