Customers value the Cyber-shot RX100's superb image and video quality, along with its compact size and ease of use. Many appreciate its performance in low-light conditions and the range of features it offers. However, some users find the flash design inconvenient and the price point relatively high. When my Canon S100 finally kicked the bucket I decided to check out this camera and quickly decided this was the one for me. The plethora of settings has allowed me to not bring the dslr on many trips and still get high quality images! Everyone now expects me to share event photos because my images are so much better than their point and shoots! Highly recommend this camera!

Professional capabilities in such a small sized camera, Lots of options to configure if you are a more experienced user, but it can take great pictures if you just want to "point-and-shoot". Only a few minor cons: 1) aluminium body and small size make it a little difficult to hold; 2) flash position isn´t good (it is placed where people normally put a finger to hold the camera; 3) Pop-up flash has to be closed manually. Even with those negative points, I am very satisfied with my purchase and I definitely recommend it.

I wanted a small, portable, high-quality camera, and every review pointed to this one. It is as fantastic with low light photography as everyone said. Very pleased.

Best pictures and video from a point and shoot

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the images and video I get from the camera. There are a few caveats. There's not much zoom, and the controls could be a little more intuitive. It's definitely not a budget camera, either. That being said, the camera does shoot in RAW, and there are controls for aperture, shutter speed, etc, so you can get the look you want. Video is extremely sharp, at up to 60 fps.

I absolutely love this camera. I finally broke down and bought a compact camera after years of using a DSLR. I finally wanted something with decent photo quality that I could just carry around with me more easily. This camera has great manual controls, great scene selections, a great panorama feature, internal level, picture quality is amazing even in low light and handheld. The battery life is a little limited, I definitely recommend buying spares. The screen does scratch easily, buy a protector sheet. It is very expensive, as much as a DSLR body really. It is worth its weight in cost, however, I do feel if you don't get it on sale it's a bit too rich for my blood for what it is.

    Beyond Expectations

Purchased this camera to take with us on vacation to the Rocky Mountains. Haven't had a dedicated camera for years. Just made due with OK shots from camera in phones. But, Colorado nature is so beautiful that I wanted to capture it more like my memories. This camera did not disappoint. I am a novice photographer and only kinda understand the various settings like aperture and shutter speed. The user interface on this camera is very good about describing what the settings will do in layman's terms. Within a day I was snapping amazing pictures. Within a couple days I was handy enough with the controls that I could get shots that make me feel like a pro. I was a little upset with the quality of the video. I didn't spend any time with settings, so this was a little less fool-proof. But, I am a big fan of how capable this camera is for capturing shots from a moving vehicle. All in all a very capable camera with very accessible features. It is pocket-able for easy transport. It is an investment well made to get pictures you will be proud of.

If you're looking for that pocket camera that surpasses your cell-phones photos or videos- this is the one. The camera produces superb video and still images and is super small......under the performance of a DSLR (of course) but above a cell phone........this camera is a winner. This model is well known online for it's amazing image quality- read the rave reviews and buy one and you'll know the reason.

The Sony RX-100 is a fantastic camera for those looking to invest in a smaller form factor but with greater quality. The larger sensor is unmatched for its physical body size, and those w/ advanced technical skills will appreciate its customization options (though it does take some time to learn and get comfortable w/ navigating the menus). I love the fact I can now take RAW and JPG photos, as well as 1080p video - all on 1 device instead of 2 or 3! Despite the higher price than many of its peers, you won't find such quality, cutting-edge technology in lower priced comparisons. The RX-1 may have a full-sized sensor, but a $2000 higher price point will not be accessible for most consumers - this RX-100 is the camera to buy!

Great features considering this camera is only a bit bigger than a point and shoot. I wish I had spent the extra money for a RX100 II or III. I wish I had the WiFi connectivity for a remote shutter which you can used via an iPhone. My photo quality was amazing and its pretty sturdy, as I mountain bike with it in my pocket and/or backpack frequently. I love this camera.

This camera has all the automatic features a beginner would ever need plus all of the manual, shutter preferred, aperture preferred and program settings as well as many scene selections. There are also many ways you can customize your photos with his camera. Definitely the most versatile camera I have ever owned and picture quality is exceptional.

Been following this camera since it was first reviewed in NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/28/technology/personaltech/a-pocket-camera-even-pro-photographers-can-love-state-of-the-art.html ). Finally (in this version) I was able to afford on sale at Best Buy. Would have preferred advanced version with WiFi but didn't want to go over $400. I like this pt-n-shoot camera with sophisticated settings, easy-to-use, and great HD video. It's a fussy camera and somewhat delicate (with pop-up flash that has to be manually pushed down, and it is not dust or water proof). However, It lives up to all the positive reviews: Compact, but delivers excellent photos. I'm satisfied for the price and output!

Once I paid the premium price for this camera, I have been very happy with this camera. The pictures are great and even get more amazing once you start learning the controls. I take this camera everywhere and I find that I take way, way more pictures because I can just take a picture and put it back in my pocket. Plus, there are some situations where a huge DSLR is just inappropriate because it's too big and obtrusive. This camera allows me to take pictures of everything without sacrificing quality. If you're willing to pay the price, you'll be happy you did.
