Great camera, but no DSRL quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it because it is small and I can carry it with me anywhere. It is doing the job. Great for shooting movies. I do not complain about grip because I do not have an issue with that. It is missing the wireless connectivity but you can use the eye-fi sd card like I do and no issues so far. Because of my eye-fi card I had to purchase a second battery as a back up because the card is draining a lot of power. For more demanding situations I still use mu nex 7.

We love the camera; it takes great pictures.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The entire family loves the camera. It takes great picture and has excellent stability. I would recommended to anyone that, like me, takes "shaky" pictures. Of course, not anymore! This camera sure helps with that.

This point and shoot thinks it is a DSLR!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best point and shoot I have ever used. Would recommend the product. This is a 3 year old product that is so good Sony keeps selling it! It keeps pace with our 5 year old Canon DSLR and is a quarter of the size.

Best camera I have ever owned.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera takes great pictures. I recently used it during our family reunion and the pictures turned out great. No fuzzy images in the background and the action shots actually froze the kickball in the air

Great compact camera!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As compact camera goes, the rx100 is reasonably priced & takes beautiful pictures. This is definitely a great alternative if you want a DSLR without having it be so bulky.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really wanted quality pictures without having to 1) buy a camera the size of a small dog and 2) learn every feature of photography. The auto features are really great and every feature/setting has an explanation. The camera even has tips for shooting. Thought when I was buying it, it could automatically download photos to wifi but this one can't. That is the II model which is a couple hundred more. U can buy wifi memory cards for 40/80 bucks so I'll just do that. Overall, highly recommend heading to the store and checking it out. Reviews drew me in, holding and shooting it sold me. Also, flash in daylight still awesome. Took portrait shot with sun in background. Faces lit up beautifully in broad Florida daylight.

A pricey camera, but it lives up to its promise.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It outclasses other cameras that are of similar size to it, but larger cameras at its price point can match or outperform it. So, you need to be interested in a small but high-quality camera to consider this one. If you use this camera as a point and shoot for vacations and other events, then you can leave it in the Auto+ mode and once you get the hang of letting it automatically take exposure brackets or just multiple shots to composite in low light then you will have very high quality images ready to go on the camera immediately. If you are using this camera as a small and easy to carry enthusiast or companion to a pro camera, then you can set it up to save the RAW data or take the exposure bracket and let you do the HDR and other processing later. Or often you can just let the Auto+ mode do its thing and go back to manual settings only if the results weren't satisfactory. Startup time is great and it takes pictures pretty quickly. The Auto+ mode slows things down since it does the processing right after taking the images, but it has enough internal buffer storage to hold 5-7 shots before having to pause to write to the card. The 1" sensor is large for this class of camera, but it still isn't all that big. Other optics and sensor features push it to a higher performance than the larger sensor would alone. Low light capability is impressive for its size and this camera takes better backlit photos than any I've had before. Supposedly the second and third versions of this camera are even better in backlit scenes than this one. There isn't much in the way of a zoom on this camera. And image quality degrades a bit the further you zoom in. At 20 megapixels though you can get away with some digital-zoom-style cropping after the fact. You will get some barrel lens distortion with this camera, more than I've seen on other compacts. But, as a tradeoff you get a wider angle lens, so hard to call this a pro or a con.

Excellent camera overall.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice images even when zoomed in. However, I really missed the view finder which is now available on more recent, more expensive models. Overall, a truly excellent pocket-sized camera.

great camera for the price point
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good non-DSLR camera for the advanced user. It is compact, takes great photographs, and doesn't have a cover that goes over the telescoping lense, which is a great feature!

Great Point and Shoot!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has an incredible shutter speed and great fill lighting- both are very important with fast moving children. I am using this to replace my Panasonic lumix lx-5. That camera took great pictures too but was not fast enough to keep up with the action.
