It is a great camera to use in place of my SLR. It is light weight, but gives you the quick shutter response. I can also choose to use shutter speed or aperture settings in those special situations. My only issue is with holding the camera. My thumb seems to want to "press" buttons I do not want it to. Over all a great camera.

I didn't want a lot of paraphernalia to carry around - different lenses and stuff. This camera takes great pictures and fits into a pocket or purse.

If I could control the focus more, I'd have almost no need for my slr anymore. The pics are beautiful. I love all the different settings in scn and how they're available at a twist. Plus it looks sleek without looking crazy expensive and so I fear getting mugged with it less even though it is crazy expensive.

All of the reviews I read swooned over this camera, but there's a little more to it. The camera will take great pictures, but as a point-and-click, it's not quite up to the task. I was looking tor a camera that was fast, had great performance in low-light, and was easy to use. This camera is a mixed bag. In it's default configuration, in auto modes, I had a terrible time getting pictures that were in focus. Sometimes nothing would be in focus, other times one small item would be in focus and everything else blurry. And yes, I did half-press to get the green focus-lock. The issue seems to be the aperture setting... you can manually adjust it, but there are side-effects. Focus improves, but so does ISO, the result is more of the picture in focus, but also a lot of noise that takes away the detail and sharpness... and focus speed. Granted, all of this can be overcome with the abundance of settings available, but then you've gone away from a easy camera to a semi-pro one and when you're trying to snap pictures at family events that you can't quite predict, it makes it difficult. The other big issue for me was the JPEG image compression. This camera doesn't have a "superfine" mode. This means that the "Fine" option is the best you have, and for that setting, they have the compression turned up pretty high. At full screen, you might not notice, but if you zoom in to crop, you will see lots of loss detail and noise. The camera will record in RAW, and this is certainly a nice feature as it gives you the ability to get the full-resolution, unmodified images. This is nice, except that, of course, the RAW format is completely proprietary and you have to use a special utility to convert the images into something more usable. Not a show-stopper, but definitely a hassle. All in all, i guess I could recommend it because it can take nice pictures, but you have to work for it. If you are looking for something you can leave on auto, or set once and use in a jiffy to catch that silly kid or action shot, you might want to look elsewhere. If you don't mind having to mess with the camera, sometimes for every shot you take, then you can get nice shots and I would recommend it.

I've been skeptical on camera's that take fast digital pictures because they all still end up blurry (I'm spoiled by my DSL) but this one has been reliable and easy to carry in my pocket

The Sony - Cyber-shot RX100 is the best camera we have ever had. Easy to use, great features and excellent quality.

This camera has lots of features that we're still figuring out, but it's shaping up to be a great compact camera, for those days when you don't want to carry your digital SLR.

Must buy a Memory Card for the camera. Point, shoot, be happy. Has good range and low light capabilities. Easy to use. Can fit in any pocket. Pay more, get more.

This camera takes high quality pictures and is light and portable. Amazing product. While it's expensive I believe it's worth the money.

Great camera when I don't want to carry the full frame Sony. Easy to use and great quality for a small camera.

Takes nice pictures, but has no WiFi or Bluetooth capability, and does not support a remote shutter. Had to spend a few extra dollars to get a Sony A6000 with all the features I needed.

I love this camera. I bought it because the reviews were great. I am a photographer and I needed a good, small camera to carry with me at all times. The photos were great. The lens was good. But 3 weeks before the warranty ran out it stopped charging. I sent the product into the warranty contractor and was told that it had impact damage and would cost over $500 to fix. This camera did not hold up the test of life - which is what I needed it to do. I will look elsewhere for something that will last.

The pictures are outstanding, easy to use. Easy to carry.
