Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Cyber-shot RX100 II's compact size and great image quality, even at higher ISO's. Many also appreciate its built-in Wi-Fi for easy sharing of photos on social media. While some users wish for a wider zoom and better grip, the camera's solid construction and user-friendly design are generally well-received.

I'm very happy with this camera. I have lost many great pictures due to cameras that were not good in low lighting... This one is great...

I bought this camera in December 2013 and had no idea of the fast and sharp pictures it would take. The auto focus is good, but you also have the ability to control all the setting through manual mode. I have travel now to 41 countries with it and it is a great camera that you can technically fit in your pocket. Although, it takes up most of a men’s pant pocket. I am now upgrading to the RX 100 V because of the 4K video recording capability and the flip up LCD screen. Also, I recommend buying a polarized filter lens.

The Sony cybershot RX-100M2 is a solid pocket size point and shoot, with amazing photo quality. I have a Canon DSLR 3Ti which does great pictures, but I needed a small form factor for a hiking trip out West. The 3.6x zoom is not particularly much, but the digital zoom still looked very good, given the quite large 1 inch sensor. The camera size fits in a pocket, impressively hefty weight for its size (not a deterrent and actually gives it a very solid feel). It doesn't have a grip, other than the metal of the body, which works, but does make for a bit harder to hold if you are holding it arms length. Overall, amazing camera.

Amazing in low light, very fast shutter speed for a non SLR, AND fits in my pocket. Not sure why you might be getting a camera, but for me its picture quality and ease to get out and actually use. My Canon SLR is nice but bulky enough I left it behind a lot. This is just too easy to take everywhere and pictures look amazing. Manual is hard to read, but playing around taught me most of what I needed to know. Not like the old days where I would be wasting film. Expensive but so far I love it.

My wife got this for me for my 50th Birthday. I never would have spent this amount of money for a point and shoot camera but I had been complaining about my old camera so she got this for me. That said once you get past the price this is a wonderful camera. I found it to be easy to learn. The controls are very intuitive, the settings also have popup instructions that tell you a bit about the setting you are on, (this can be disabled if this sort of thing annoys you). I haven't used this a lot but have taken it to a birthday party and outdoors for some puppy play dates. The indoor photos are very good, by far better than my old camera, Casio Exilm EX Z-70. There is no comparison of the video quality either. I was amazed on the quality of videos this took of the dogs playing. As a tip, if you take a lot of action photos, learn how to use the "S" mode and it will greatly improve the action photos you take. I was a bit worried about the battery life because I read a lot of complaints about this regarding the first version. But it looks like Sony got this straightened out with the M2 because I have taken about 100 photos and 15 minutes of video and have not had to recharge the battery yet. The NFC works really well with my Galaxy S4 so I can wirelessly copy my photos to my phone. You do need to install the Sony Play Memories App to do this though. One thing you can't do is to transfer AVCHD videos through wireless. I've read that doing this may damage the videos due to the compression used during transfer, I haven't tried MP4 format yet. One thing that I don't like about Play Memories is that I can't chose where to download the photos to on my phone. I want them to go to a certain folder on the SD Card but it automatically chooses a folder on the phone itself and I have not been able to change this.

Use as pocketable alternative to Canon 5DM3. Excellent images for size.Good hi-ISO and lo light performance. Overly complex menu system partially compensated by hi level of button programability. No useful instructions. Strongly suggest Gary Friedman e-book. Also Digital Photo Review website using forum for sony cybershot. Both sources offer practical suggestions. Once familiar with camera find images very impressive. Though I favor RAW was surprised how good JPG images are. Size great for pocket;weight borderline.I dont use the powered hotshoe accessories but some may find this helps justify the rather hi cost. I find I use the tilting viewscreen more than I expected.

So I purchased this camera along with the Fuji x70, I decided to keep the RX100ii because the image quality is great for the size of this camera. Was able to take good low light photos (main reason I bought). Fits in all my pants and shorts pockets, so it is real convenient to take everywhere. Don't use my iPhone 6 for pictures no more I find the play memories app easy to use and fast; quick Lightroom mobile adjustment and done, post to Instagram One issue I did have with this camera was the lack of a good grip, but got fixed with the $15 dollar Sony grip.

Camera is greart - Gift Card offer was not

Let me say first I do love the camera - check on prices elsewhere also though. It takes some time getting used to holding, but after time that can be worked out. Controls are very convenient and really allow me to customize to what I am photographing. I am disappointed with Best Buy as I bought this camera after a lot of pricing and comparing. I was torn between two stores and manufacturers and the $50 gift card offer pushed me to this one at BB. I bought on line (almost 2 months ago now) and noticed that the $50 gift card did not show on the shipping invoice or the final billing. Contacted BB, and BB rep told me that the card would come with the camera, even though it did not appear on my online invoice. When it didn't I contacted BB again and was told that it appeared that the card did not get packaged with the camera , however, "as a one time courtesy" they would send me the card (that was offered in the on-line ad). I haven't received it to date. Just disappointed in the lack of holding to their offer, then the "one time courtesy" reference when I inquired. Guess that Elite Plus ranking doesn't really matter . I do like the camera, just shop around , a better price is out there.

This camera produces high quality photographs, and you can adjust things if you are interested in manually adjusting f-stops and shutter speeds, but it also can be an awesome point-and-shoot camera. It has a much better lens, and even though that makes it a little heavier than my previous SONY camera, the weight is not a significant. The flash pops up, and you have to gently push it down manually. It has a quick focus, and fast shutter speed on automatic. The pictures have rich color and clear focus. I had to buy a camera case, with a shoulder strap, separately.

I returned a Samsung NX Mini to get this Sony RX100m2 camera and I'm so happy I did that. The Samsung camera did have a better exterior styling design, a touchscreen, and some useful features, but its picture-taking capability wasn't as good as the Sony RX100m2. With the Sony, the picture quality is excellent, especially in low-light environments. Processing speed is faster than the Samsung NX Mini as well.

If f you want near DSLR quality in a pocket camera this is the camera of choice. Solid well-made and easy to use. obviously you don't have the lense choice or indoor quality of a DSLR. I already own one of these and bought this as a graduation gift for my photo oriented son. I have seen several serious DSLR photographers who carry one these in their pocket and everywhere they go..

This camera took great pics. Bright, crisp, vivid high quality pics. It is very small, so great to carry in a purse. It is a little awkward to hold with two hands because of its size. Left hand gets in the way of the flash popping up. I was disappointed with the lack of zoom. I wanted to be able to zoom in on my kids on the football field. If you don't care about zooming in much, it would be an awesome camera for you!

I was looking for a compact camera that would take higher quality pictures and movies than my iPhone. I purchased 3 days before a trip to Ireland and had no problems using the camera. Carrying the camera in my pocket, rather than carrying a larger camera with multiple lenses made my trip much more pleasant.

I have only had this Camera for a short time, but I am very impressed with it. It has several "auto" shoot functions, and all the manual functions of a DSLR camera, and yet is compact enough to carry everywhere. I am a novice photographer, who is venturing into underwater photography....so nothing like 2 challenges at once....I have been trying out the various options for shooting, and have never had such nice clear shots. Shoot intelligent mode and do nothing more...perfect picture.....AP priority, shutter priority, memory recall, set for night scene, sport, fireworks.....simply everything you need to start shooting plus all the options for the experienced photographer....absolutely a perfect camera. And for Scuba Diver's, this camera (underwater housing not included) was rated #1 for compact camera 2015.

This camera is great to take to the field or travel .Compact size, but excellent quailty photos with 1in sensor--comparable to DSLR with out the weight. Good for even more serious photographers that love to have settings to enhance their photography. Can add a filter adapter from Lensmate to use with your filters. Great versatility in a compact size.

I tried to advance my picture taking by buying this camera and a the Sony NEX 5 mirror-less. Turns out that the RX100 is just far superior when it comes to photos of opportunity. Small package, huge features, shallow depth-of-field. Limited zoom but I'd rather have a camera I will carry and have ready at a moment's notice than a larger (NEX) system that I just didn't have time for.
