    You Won't Be Disappointed

I have been using HSC HX300 for almost 2 years and It has served me very well. Sunsets, the moon & stars, clouds, landscape and now the mountains since I've moved to Colorado Springs. Recently, it came up with an error message (E:62:10) that flashes on display. Did some research on it and found that it would cost $250.00 or more for Sony to repair. It's very annoying but it works fine. Then I seen the 400V on sale for $350.00. It was a no brainer. For $100.00 more than the cost to repair the 300, I now have 2 awesome cameras that take photos that make me feel like a pro. Which I am not! I 1st chose to go with a DSLR but found that if I wanted to get the craters on the moon and Pleiades (the 7 sisters) in the constellation Taurus The Bull, and crystal clear long zoom photos of Pikes Peak that I was getting with Sony, I would have to buy more lenses. I don't have that kind of money. The wide range of settings on this camera give me the opportunity to take photos that far exceed what I ever thought I could capture. And in that range, I am forced to adjust & fine tune the iso, aperture, exposure etc, if I really want to make the next photo better than the last. So I have learned a lot about photography. It fulfills my hunger for capturing the moment, no matter what it may be. This class of camera is so frowned upon by some. But I say, unless photography is how you are or will be feeding your family then buy this one! It will not disappoint! Even if it did, Best Buy has an awesome return policy.

I should have researched a little more. I wanted a camera with good zoom AND burst mode. However, much too late, I sadly discovered this camera's "Burst Mode" is only .71 pics per SECOND- so basically one picture per second. I have kids in sports, and was so excited to capture mid-action frames. Not possible with this camera :( Burst mode is what I was looking forward to the most... I wish the label "Burst Mode" was not allowed to be used in the description unless a minimum # of frames per second was specified. I would recommend to someone who doesn't need burst mode, as the photo quality is decent. But that wouldn't include anyone I know...

This camera takes very good pictures with the automatic settings. The 63X Optical Zoom works great. The clarity of the photos is very good for a camera in this price range. However, I have seen photos taken from a Nikon P530 which had more visual clarity. But the Nikon P530 was priced about $30 more and only included a 30X Optical Zoom. In summary, I would rate this camera excellent for the price. There are still other cameras that can take better photos, but they cost much more.

This camera has zoom and other features that I would only expect in a much more expensive camera. Picture quality is excellent. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the lack of manual focus; otherwise, 5 stars.

Takes great pictures, but since it is not a DSLR, it lacks a little of the functionality. However, for a point and shoot, and for the price, it's a great buy.

Still learning this camera, Love the long zoom capability. But have not been able to get consistent focus on moving objects that are close. Manual is only on-line and not easy to find the best way to take certain pictures. i.e. close ups. fast action multiple shots with one click etc. For the cost it is worth keeping just for those long shots. One last thing is the mode select on the top. IT can be bummed and moved to another setting without realizing it. So now I check between shots to make sure it is on the desired one.

The camera works great .But it the plug to charge the camera has is to short and has to be plugged into the camera. It should have a charger you plug in and the battery goes into. Also the camera doesnt have a tilt screen,so its not good for shoots when holding the camera up you can not see the view.If they change these to things it wold be an awesome camera.

I have been using the Sony H400 camera for a few weeks now. I replaced a Canon Powershot S1, that had a 10x optical zoom vs this Sony camera's 63x optical zoom. Still shots come out pretty good. But actions shots are another thing. I took photos at a high school football game tonight, and the action was too much for this camera. I tried different settings, but most of the zoomed in photos came out blurry. I attribute part of this to it being more difficult to hold the camera steady for zooming in to far distances, but it says that it has "Optical Steady Shot". The other part is, what I was warned about in some other reviews that I read, that the continuous shots are too slow. About 1 shot per second versus 3 per second on the Canon. It also focuses slower. I got much better photos on the old Canon, and even better photos with my Sony TX20 pocket camera, which I really, really like! Unfortunately, the TX20 is a better camera than this bigger H400 camera. It has more options and takes better photos. I am disappointed that the H400 cannot take photos while taking video (TX20 can). It cannot edit photos to trim or resize the photos (TX20 can). It does not have stereo microphones for video (TX20 does). I could go on and on. Unlike Canon, this camera does show a calendar for finding photos and it does have sweep panoramic mode, which I do like. Those options, plus the fact that this camera has an eye-piece viewer vs the similar priced Canon Powershot, which does not, is why I purchased this camera. The bottom line is that this Sony H400 camera is fine for photographing objects that are sitting still, but not so much for action shots. It looks like a fancy camera, but it really is a "get what you pay for" camera. If I had the chance, I would return this camera and pay more for a better Sony or Canon camera (with built in far distance zoom).

I purchased this camera under the recommendation of my photography professor at college a few weeks ago. It is nothing fancy, but it does the work I need it to do for class. Given its capabilities, I am pleased with its pricing. I did find out that the bag that is recommended by Best Buy does not fit the dimensions to hold the camera. So I ended up purchasing one elsewhere. So far, I am pleased with the camera. The battery lasts quite a while. I have only charged it once since purchasing it two weeks ago. Overall, if you are a beginner photographer, I think this is one of your safer bets camera-wise.

I got this Sony DSC-H400 camera because it has 63x zoom and it has 20.1 megapixels. I was disappointed with this camera, especially as a point-and-shoot camera. Definitely not enough clear shots.
