I am a macro enthusiast and absolutely love this lens. The AF is outstanding. The images are sharp and this lens really captures detail.

Macro photos and portraits are essential in the tattoo and body piercing industry. This lens is a game changer. there are many macro and portrait lenses out there, but this one is my go to. Both the automatic and manual are fast and easy. The steady shot is wonderful since my camera does not have any internal stabilization. If you want the bang for your buck don’t pinch pennies get this lens and you will not be disappointed..

Dear Lord, I have been shhoting for close to 4 months, took a few classes, watched countless videos, now that I am a bit more educated I understand sharpness a bit more, I use the a7ii with the kit lens and Zeiss 55 1,8 great lens but not ideal for Macro, picked up this macro yesterday and I can't stop shooting, it has taken me to another level, I haven't even processed my pictures, they are that sharp straight out of the camera, I use the saturation feature, it was this lens or the a6300, no way my a7ii and this lens are on another level now. Thanks to all the reviews, it was hard to spend that amount of money, no buyers remorse here.

It’s an excellent lens that I can use for both macro and portrait photography. Here the pros: -The sharpness is just awesome. The edge to edge sharpness is very good. -Level of detail is very good. -The color rendition is very good -Switch between manual and autofocus is just with a shift of the front ring. I love this feature compared to the traditional switches which I used to forget earlier to switch. -love the creamy bokeh. Reduces a lot of my post processing work. Cons -Heavy. I need to continually readjust my tripod. You can feel that during macro as the focus point shifts down. - pricey. Would have loved to spend around 750. Still I got a good deal during Christmas from Bestbuy and got a 100$ discount. Frankly there are no real cons to this lens. I hope to have a better and more sturdier tripod in the future that may help with my macro and support this lens better. Overall, an excellent lens and no one will go wrong for buying this lens. It’s definitely a BESTBUY.

This lens is ideally suited for macro photography, though some use it as a medium telephoto portrait lens as well. The lens is superbly crafted, with excellent attention to detail, smooth focus ring, easy to navigate manual controls, and so on. It is a bit heavy, however, and therefore this lens will feel awkward on a Sony A6xxx camera (for A7R2 users, however, the lens balances nicely, especially if you are using the battery grip). Optically, the lens performs flawlessly, though as others have noted, it can hunt for focus if you rely on AF in low light conditions. The bokeh in wide apertures is pleasing and creamy, providing warmth and color contrast in your compositions. This is an excellent lens and I recommend buying from Best Buy rather than other vendors such as Amazon.

This lens is beyond sharp! I’m amazed by the images I’ve been able to take with this beauty! Even the AF at closed distance it’s great! So many features to talk about but omg story short this lens can be use not only for macro, but also for portraits, food photography and so on.

I read the reviews. Thought about it for awhile. I didn't really have an understanding of the real quality of this lens. I am using it on my A7Rii. I've used it with macro and portrait. Attached is a macro sample.

This lens right here... Man this is the best macro lens I have ever used. It takes absolutely breathtaking photos of small subjects. Beautiful bokeh, great colors. Auto focus is great, lens stabilization is perfect. It's so quiet for video recording. It has a great weight, and feel to it, it doesn't feel cheap. It's great for product photography, because the resolution is amazing. Photos are so sharp, ordinary printers can't produce the amount of fine detail the lens produces. I've had this lenses a couple weeks and I am very impressed with the sharpness if this lense. I have two G lenses and the 90 macro is the sharpest with great bokeh, making it a great portrait lense also. The 1/1 macro is terrific and the autofocus is faster than I expected. I'm very pleased with this purchase and as always Best Buy was great. Delivery arrived when promised.

I’ve been photographing for over 50 years with different systems and lens, and I’ll put the A7riii with this lens up against any of them. Tack sharp. Excellent macro and the push/pull switching from auto to manual focus is great.

Unbelievable pics with this lens. Not exactly for a brand new photographer - should be comfortable with the different settings and functions of your camera. Really superior photos (close up/micro/macro & portait) especially once you get the hang of it. Not great for everyday point and shot but that's not what it's meant for. Auto focus haunts is slow. Found myself getting better pics in manual mode. It has some weight too and does get heavy in the hand. Perfect for tripod use or prob wanna get grip extender (battery grip) for camera. One of the few lenses that is worth it's price. Might be best bang for the buck especially if was a little lighter.

I read a lot about this lens before purchasing. It was well worth it! This lens is crazy sharp! Some reviewers mentioned that the bokeh was not great, but I disagree. It's very creamy and smooth. As a macro lens at 90mm 2.8, it's good for portraits as well. I like the push/pull feature for manual or auto use, very convenient. It feels solid in the hands & secure. The distance scale is nice but I don't use it. The lens hood.makes this lens seem larger than it really is. The colors are stunning and contrasty. It's just the best macro lens I purchased so far. Sony did a superb job here.

What you would expect a Sony G Macro to be. Smooth, quick, with sharp auto focus. Pairs well with a7II Full Frame. Slide the ring between auto focus and manual focus easily for those quick access opportunities. This is really a nice lens for amateur or professional.

Sharpest lens I've owned thus far. First copy I purchased was bad, the focus motor made a fairly loud noise which was not normal. I received a replacement and the lens is amazing. Not the quietest lens but it isn't an issue with the macro work I've done which is the purpose of the lens. Does amazingly well shooting portraits as well. I didn't feel this lens was heavy, rather extremely light. If you are looking for a native e-mount macro lens this is your lens without doubt.

I really love this lens from Sony. This specific macro lens is so sharp and fun to use..its great in autofocus with the new sony cameras and i love how easy and smooth it is for video camera with its built in optical steady shot..i got some smooth macro footage with it. I just love using this lens..

Love this lens! Really sharp, really fast and not too heavy. Also a good portrait length. Super fast AF on A9 and A7Riii.
