I feel the original price ($250) might be a little steep for this speaker, I was able to get for $150 on sale. I've had for about a month now and primarily use it in the garage and to have music playing at the baseball practice I coach. Great sound, connects easy to phone.

The sound is amazing and easy to use. I use it on the deck at my RV, use it on my boat and in the house. I wanted s boom box that had quality sound and I found it from Sony and best buy. Price was very affordable. I highly recommend to all. Don't pass it up you will be missing out.

This is a great portable Bluetooth speaker for outdoor use in a backyard, tailgating, camping or any other outdoor setting. It has a top that opens up to provide a flat, splash-resistant top with a couple of cup holders. This makes it ideal for something like tailgating or camping where table space may be limited, as you can then set things on top of it. When open, this also angles the tweeters upward, making the sound carry even further. The mega bass feature gives it much better bass than most portable speakers. This speaker is larger than most portable speakers, as it is approximately 13 x 15 x 12 inches and around 14 pounds. However, the size is what gives it a much better bass and all-around sound for outdoor environments. I found the speaker sounded good in my house also. With the top closed, the tweeters fire down and the sound was good at all different volume levels. However, I found it really shines when played outdoors. I connected via Bluetooth to my iPhone and walked to the back of my yard, which is around 60 feet. The sound was good, loud and clear, with a good bass punch. Also, the Bluetooth connection was still solid at that distance, as I had the phone in my hand. It paired up very easily with my iPhone. The rechargeable battery is supposed to last for up to 13 hours, which is quite long for a speaker of this size. I played it for 6 hours straight and still had around half the battery left, so that sounds about right. In addition to Bluetooth, it has a L & R audio input and a USB port to connect other devices or charge a phone. Another real nice feature that you don't get on many portable speakers is an FM tuner. I was able to connect to FM in my house and pulled in more channels than I can on my home component stereo. The speaker also has the ability to connect a microphone and it can be placed on a tripod. There is also a Sony Music Center App that allows you to control a number of things on this speaker, such as equalizer settings, the music on your device, connection to other streaming services, a sleep timer, setting up FM presets, etc. Another app called Fiestable has additional features, such as a karaoke feature you can use with the speaker. From a design perspective, I really liked the overall design. With the top closed, it gives you a nice indented area to place things you don't want to lose track of. Using it with the top open and having the ability to use cup holders and not worry about spilling on it is great for many outdoor activities. My only suggested design improvements would be first, to maybe have a tray or something that would pull out to shield the control buttons. With cup holders on top or in certain party situations, I could see a full drink getting spilled on it. While this wouldn't hurt the top of the speaker, it could drip over the edge onto the control buttons. Second, it would be nice if it had a handle of some sort that would allow for carrying it with one hand. It has a handle under the closed lid on both sides, but not the type that would allow you to carry it with one hand. You have to use both hands, although the square design would allow you to stack and carry it on top of something or carry things on top of it. Overall, I am very happy with this speaker's sound and design and it will be a great addition to various outdoor events, while also proving useful indoors, in rooms without a stereo.

Great sound... very clear and does not distort... pairs up easy with my iPhone... battery life is better than I expected... great to have out by the pool as well as indoors and easy enough to take anywhere...

It was a little bigger than expected but super light to tote around. I like the convenient flip open top to put your drinks on. It was easy and fast to connect my phone to.

From the moment I picked this box I notice how really light the box was to include the packaging. The speaker was very well packed, and I notice how well protected it was but then again that is expected from Sony. Upon powering up the speaker, I held the Demo button to see what it was capable of. I was pretty impressed with the sound but, a little let down on the low frequency (Bass). Upon opening the top portion to reveal 4 cup holders and a splash proof pad. When I opened up the top, the sound paused, and then continued playing, it seems that’s when the signal processor kicked in, you can notice the sound difference from the external tweeters they get a bit louder. The sound was actually crystal clear when in party mode (top open). When the upper portion is closed the sound actually becomes more like direct firing focusing on one direction, while open the tweeters up fire creating a more surround like sound. If you have a clumsy friend the top is also rated splash proof which is great but I really don’t want to test it to find out. The battery on the speaker claim to last about 13 hours if used at vol level 25 which is halfway, I used it at the beach at full blast it gave me a little over 6 hours. I am pretty sure that is one of the aux connections is used you may get more juice out the battery since you don’t have to use the BT connection, but I didn’t test that. It’s really pleasing to know that you have that much battery power available. Some additional features also include a microphone plug in to do sing along or karaoke with your phone as a guide. I don’t have a microphone to test this out but I do plan to get one because who doesn’t love Karaoke! The speaker also features a key changer for those who may need that to adjust their voice tone while singing. I have only used the speaker with Bluetooth but I really appreciate the option of an auxiliary input and RCA inputs for other devices that may not have Bluetooth. There is a USB connection which you can use to play music files direct from USB source, including your phone, it can also be used for charging as well. There is an FM Tuner built in which I don’t use that often but I can think of finding use for it during a power outage due to an emergency such as a natural disaster like hurricanes since I live in Florida. The LCD screen location on the upper portion of the speaker will display the volume level, battery level, connect devices, and inputs it will not display current track playing ☹. You also get audible notifications of the battery level. The speaker is about 14Lbs but when carry around using the side handles the weight is evenly managed you don’t feel it. By the way this speaker can be also mounted on a tripod. Overall this a great speaker with great sound for outdoor parties, gatherings, picnics or just hanging out at the beach, and the best part without breaking the bank, now days a lot of BT speakers will fall within the same price range and without many of the features this one has. Great portable and chargeable speaker. It’s easy to connect your wireless devices via Bluetooth. The only thing I wish it had a little more of is bass.

Okay, I want to first say I have owned a lot of speakers and this one is by far my favorite. It not only looks pretty darn neat, but it sounds great too! I love how you can enhance the sound by just opening up the top. Then you can use the opened up top to place your drinks on. I love that there are protector flaps to cover the usb, audio in/out and mic connectors and a flap to protect the charging port in the back. I really like how the speaker also has a tuner so you can just listen to the radio. Every speaker should have that option still. This speaker also has an app called fiestable, so you can control the sound and music from your phone. Its actually pretty neat. There is a motion section that allows you to turn up the volume, change the song and pause the music by just moving your phone. The only thing is you have to have the motion section of the app open in order to use it. I didn't like that. Hopefully they update it and make some changes so you don't have to, but then again if you accidentally move your phone and you don't have the motion section open it wont change the music or sound. I think that feature is pretty dope. I love the karaoke feature on this speaker. That has to be one of my favorite features of the speaker. You can adjust the mic volume to turn it up and down. You can add or take off the echo. The app even has a section to control the mic, which is awesome. Who needs a separate karaoke machine when all you need is this speaker and an ipad. There is also a karaoke app and many apps online or youtube to get karaoke music. The only thing I don't like about the speaker is the fact that you can't tell how much it is charged. It has a little display screen so you can see who is connected, the station your on, etc. I have to see if I just missed something and its somewhere on the display or I just need to push a button to see it. Its not too big a deal right now, but it is something that would be nice to able to see. The sound quality is great. There is not too much bass where its overbearing, but you can take the bass off too if it was. At 50, which is the highest, it's actually pretty loud. I had the speaker playing in my room with the door closed and It sounded loud and clear from my living room and backyard. This speaker also has openings at the bottom so you can place it on a tripod so it is not on the floor. I really like that. One last thing that I really like is it is very lightweight. I was surprised at what came out of the box when I opened it because it felt so light. When the top is closed, it forms to handles on the side. Overall, this is a great speaker in my opinion and Sony did a great job of adding features to their speaker that can please everyone, esp the karaoke lovers like myself.

No HD Radio Review ——— BUILD QUALITY Build quality is excellent, I would not say it will survive a drop (not tried it) but it will last a long time. you can carry the speaker with the handles on the sider. The speaker has 2 tweeters (4 cm x2 (cone type)) and a 18 cm woofer. The top panel can be unfolded to fit 4 beer cans/bottles. The grooves are deep enough and the bottles wont fall off due to the vibration of the speakers or shaking the speakers accidentally. The LCD panel is a good addition but I doubt that’s needed when you are controlling your music through the phone. Although I think that it might be useful when you are playing music through USB as it tells you which song is playing. The speaker can also be placed on a tripod. SETUP Setup is fairly easy, using the function- pairing button you can pair the speaker to your phone… SOUND QUALITY With the twin tweeters and the woofer, the sound is fantastic. It has MEGA BASS mode but without the MEGA BASS Mode turned on, the sound has sufficient amount of BASS. I tested the speaker by playing some of the Kenny G’s as well as some R&B’s and the beats came out to be clear and the bass did not seem to overpower the highs and mids and it was very balanced and not muffled even playing at high volume. OTHER FEATURES The USB port can use used for playing mp3 files, just that you need to make sure the usb is FAT formatted prior to loading the mp3 files. I tested the FM radio function indoor and the reception is very good with the included antenna. Child lock feature is a god sent! I can now make sure my 2 year old does not play around with the speaker!! Note that the complete speaker is not waterproof, only the top panel is waterproof. dont take it out when its raining …. Overall I think its a good outdoor speaker, I am just waiting for my summer fun.

This new solidly built speaker from Sony is designed from the ground up for outdoor parties. Unfold the top panel which swings open to become a spill resistant table which extends the two stereo tweeters and unveils four cup or beer bottle holders! The speaker actually has two different sound fields. One with the top panel opened and the other closed. If you’re checking out this speaker in the store, listen to it both ways. With the top panel open, the sound enveloped my whole deck outside. Closed it’s better for a smaller room inside. There are plenty of ways to listen to your music. The built in FM tuner worked great, using Bluetooth it was easy to connect to my smartphone, The USB port will handle a flash drive full of MP3’s, or you can use the ‘old school’ RCA jacks for connecting a TV, DVD player, etc. At full volume the party speaker is loud. There’s a hole on the bottom so you can mount it on a tripod. It’s also a karaoke speaker. There’s a microphone jack with mic echo in case you want to pretend you’re entertaining a stadium full of people. The microphone is not included. I plugged one in and the sound was loud and clear with none of the usual feedback from a device like this. There’s three levels of echo you can play with. And it’s great to announce to your guests when the hot dogs are ready. It’s not required but a good idea to install the free Sony “Music Center” app on your smartphone. I used it to set the sound equalization to my taste. There are seven settings available, or you can custom the EQ yourself. The Sony app will also regulate the volume, change the station on the radio, etc. if you’re far away from the device. My only disappointment with the speaker is that I did not hear a major difference when the Mega bass was turned on. Not that the sound wasn’t great, but I would have expected a bigger change when that circuit was engaged. On a full charge the speaker will entertain for 13 hours. In other words, it will keep going long after your beer runs out. Happy entertaining.

Sony's GTK-PG10 is portable, wireless, and rechargeable -- perfect for outdoor use such as camping or a tailgate party. And get this -- it has a mic input if you want to sing along (it not only has separate audio controls for adjusting mic volume, two dedicated buttons can also adjust the key of whatever song you’re playing). The PG10 offers a myriad of audio inputs which include; Bluetooth, RCA, USB, and ¼-inch jack. In addition, the GTK-PG10 has a built-in AM/FM radio, so you can catch any game broadcasts when you’re tailgating. It even has a USB charging port if your phone is running low. The PG10 has a 13-hour built-in battery which it can party much longer than I can. (charging your phone might shorten that time a bit though). The PG10 sound comes from a single 7” driver with two 1½” tweeters. The top of the speaker case has two wings on the top of the speaker that holds the tweeter. These wings open out to form a table with four cup holders, and when the wings are open, the tweeters fire upwards and outwards giving the PG10 a wider field of sound. The top is splash proof in case some of the beer spills over, but the unit is not waterproof so don't drop it off a boat. And what would a beer holding karaoke party speaker be without bass? The PG10 features Sony's MEGA BASS function which boosts the low end. The PG10 is impressively loud for the size of the speaker -- you can push it to max volume with MEGA BASS and experience little distortion. The sound is clean. I Purchased This Speaker As Open Box Item, Looks And Performs As New, I First Played This With My Music Player In My Kitchen, And I Was Not Very Impressed With The Sound, The Highs Were There, But They Were Irritating, Then Latter, I Took It Outside And Turned The Sound Up, And It Sounded A Lot Better, I Suppose It Is By Design. I Now Play This Often, And Very Please With My Purchase. Thanks Best Buy.

I have to admit I did not think there was a need for a device like this until Sony sent me one to review and I got a chance to use it. Although it seems like a strange device, it actually makes tons of sense. Granted, I wouldn’t think of taking this to the beach because it would be a bit heavy to carry a long way (although you could), this makes perfect sense for a patio, deck or tailgate parties. The first thing I did was charge it up. Sony claims this has a 13 hour battery life. After a couple of hours, I took it out to my patio, opened it up and put my beer in a cup holder. Next I paired my phone via Bluetooth and loaded up some tunes. The sound pretty much blew me away it has Sony’s DSP (Digital Signal Processor) technology, which automatically adapts the speaker’s audio settings to optimize the sound for performance outdoors. One note is that this sounds much better with the top opened up since it aims the tweeters upward. It also has a USB port and an FM radio tuner. If you want, you can even plug in a microphone to use a karaoke machine. Overall this is a pretty great little speaker and I plan on using this a lot during the spring and summer for barbecues and hanging out in the yard. It is designed so that you can even sit on it if you want. I’m about 175lbs and it didn’t creak even a little when I used it as a seat.
