Overall I really like the speaker. For the size it is really light to carry and move around. The cup holders on top are a nice added feature and when it is open like this the sound projects nicely as it changes where the tweeters are located. I like that I can even turn it on in the house and hear it clearly in other rooms while cleaning or doing household chores. The fact that there are covers for the connection points (ie. power plug, aux cord etc) is really nice so you do not need to worry about anything getting in there. Another great feature is with the push of a button it tells you how much battery life is left so there is no guessing. You can even use it while it is charging or use it to charge your phone. Being able to sync more than one phone or deivce at a time is awesome!! No more having to switch back and forth between devices to listen to different playlists. Another feature I like is that you can have the device up to 33ft away from the speaker while using it. This allows you to keep your phone or device in a safe place and not worry about it being broken or misplaced! Since it is an outdoor speaker I was looking forward to taking it to outdoor places such as the lake and park.....however after reading the instruction book I learned that it is not waterproof nor is it supposed to be in direct sunlight. The very top where the cup holders are is splashproof but not the main unit or where the controls are. So this may limit where I use it to covered patios or shady dry places. Overall it is a great speaker and we are really happy with it. It has the great sound one expects from a Sony product!

Prior to this speaker, I'd never dealt with portable outdoor speakers before. Or pretty much any Bluetooth devices for that matter.
It was very easy to set up, plus it has several different ways to play music. It has a built-in tuner and antenna, so you can pick up radio, you can put music on a USB thumb drive and play it or you can connect to a Bluetooth device and play any music from those devices.
It doesn't matter whether music is stored on the device or accessed via a music service. I used my phone, tablet and laptop to connect to the speaker, all with no problems. My phone and tablet are both Android and my laptop is Windows, so I can't address Apple compatibility.
The sound quality is good and has bass features for anyone that wants them. One nice feature is that the speaker has a built-in battery, so you don't have to have a power source all the time. If you want to go to the park or the beach, just charge it up before you go and you're all set. If you're at home you can plug it in. It came with a pretty good charge, so I didn't even have to charge it up to try it out.
One of the interesting features is that the top folds out to make a small table, even with cup holders. At least you have a place to put your beverage while you're adjusting the controls of the speaker. It's big enough to have decent sound, but small enough to be portable.
All in all, a very nice speaker with a wide variety of features.

This came at the perfect time, we had some nice weather and decided it was time to clean up the patio and start getting it ready to use. The speaker is easily transported. When the top is closed, it acts as handles to carry the speaker. When closed, the speaker acts like a regular one, with the sound only going straight forward. However, open the top, and the sound just expands so it goes everywhere. The top has 4 cup holders and a small table-like area so you can put down a bowl of munchies or a plate of something. We were out at the patio for over 6 hours and the battery never waivered. The sound was excellent and we connected via Bluetooth and had no trouble playing music. There is a USB port so if people need to charge cellphones, they are able to. There is also a microphone outlet so a karaoke party is possible.
This speaker is great for tailgaiting, picnics, the beach, well, anywhere you take a cooler, you can take this. It is also great for a party on your patio. I can tell you it made cleaning said patio so much more enjoyable.

For a Small room

Had it for few days..
Tried many types of EQ Settings. But the bass wasn't as punchy as these people said it was with he top opened or closed. In a small room it was obvi loud but working in a long hallway the sounds fade but it's not as loud without distortion and no bass. Didn't want a ridiculous amount of Bass to be on the EQ and the "Extra Bass" icon. So tried low bass on settings and was decent when used with extra Bass icon. But again was at a medium-ish volume. Again was in the space of a car SUV while I detail my customers cars. Needed to return. Never had it on max volume so I know the speaker and watts rating wasn't to accurate.

if you expect bass and loud look elsewhere. This is not for a large party. But definitely would work in a back yard with a small group.

Great for indoor/outdoor and karaoke

In the box is the Sony speaker and cord and instruction manual. Pull the system out and plug it in. No assembly necessary.
Beware, this speaker is a little heavy, not a deal breaker but it looks light but if you are thinking of carrying to the beach or somewhere far, beware of the weight. It will get heavy with time.
The sound is great. I played indoors and outdoors and I enjoyed in both areas. It will definitely fill the room and the area with sound/music. Bluetooth connectivity was easy and it works better when you download the Sony app. It works even better when you download the Sony app and the Fiestable app so that you can enjoy the karaoke side of the speaker. It does sound like a lot of work, but the apps together with the speaker work excellent. There is a metal antenna to assist with local AM/FM channels which I thought was nice, don't see that much anymore. I actually tested it and got majority of the local channels that I listen to every now and then. Also, it would be beneficial to keep the manual handy because there are a few other different combinations of buttons that you can use with the speaker as well.
One of the key things to remember is do not sit on the speaker. There is a do not sit on the speaker sticker on the top of the speaker but it is small and you may not notice at first. Also, when the top is flipped up, there is an area (handles) to carry the speaker. When the top is flipped down, there are four cup holder gussets.
Another thing to recognize is the plastic removable panel for external cords to plug in external devices. There is a key button to change the key/range/pitch of the song playing which is great for karaoke.
All in all, I think that this is a great speaker for someone that has a lot of outdoor gatherings or get togethers that wants something that has great sound for a decent sized area/room. I know for sure that this speaker will be put to good use for slumber parties and family get togethers and maybe even Sunday dinners when the family wants to listen to music or have karaoke night or just want to have fun.

Straight out the box I didn't plug it up and was able to use it about 3 days approx 3 hours each day no problem. I absolutely love the option of a built in FM radio. Having the app downloaded makes it super easy and convenient to turn the speaker on without getting up or change to different functions from your phone. The sound is loud enough for me to disturb my neighbors being in an apartment. So all around I'm very happy with it. It does charge my phone just as good as any wall plug.

The Sony PG10 Portable Bluetooth Outdoor Speaker is a great option for outdoor summer and pool party fun where you need your tunes but want to minimize damage from water. Big enough to act as a small table top and drink holder, but small enough to still be portable and convenient. It packs the options into this cube of sound including Bluetooth, audio jacks, Karaoke, FM Radio, and a USB port.
I found this speaker to be cool, innovative, and convenient for my needs. The option to put it on a tripod stand was a great touch for my needs as I plan to use it for training and public speaking as well. I found the biggest lack on this speaker was the bass. While it claims MegaBass, it is far from it. I used Bluetooth to test the bass, but never found the bass to be even sufficient on any song I tried. I was very clear in the mids and highs, which is good for loud pool parties or at the beach.
PROS
- Sony brand and quality
- Portable and convenient
- Option-loaded
- Connects up to 3 devices via Bluetooth
- Great sound in the mids and highs
- Karaoke feature is fun for parties
- Convertible top creates a small table top with places for 4 drinks to be held.
- Water/Splash resistant.
CONS
- Bass is lacking
- Can be large for some applications and locations

I was disappointed mostly because of how good Sony normally is. The bass was really lacking. For less money you can get a Monster that rocks.

A powerful, portable system!

This is the only outdoor portable speaker that comes with it's own tabletop. It can only hold 22Lbs so I don't recommend sitting on it. But for drinks, chips and dip, it's the perfect size. I like that it has multiple inputs which works well if I have a USB key or if I want to connect it to my outdoor projector (coax) for thundering theater sound. Battery life is great for a unit as big and powerful as this, about 12 hrs at a fairly loud outdoor volume. The indoor mode is great for directional sound, works well, and is ridiculously loud. The outdoor mode has a fizzling effect indoors, but stellar performance outside creating an encompassing sound that gives the illusion of multidirectional effect. When connecting to my phone, I set it to better sound making better use of the LDAC signal properties. My recommendation would be to keep the phone close by, because it drops at a distance of 20ft or more. The FM tuner works well even without the antenna extended. I didn't get to test the mic features as I don't have a mic and it didn't come with one; which would probably be the only downside of this package when compared to similar units. Going to a picnic, bbq, or camping; I won't be forgetting this!

I was blown away by the sound quality of this speaker. Strong bass, it really fills up the yard! It attracts the party on the beach, at the campground, or my favorite... tailgating. Plus the cupholders to save space are such a nice added touch.

An Excellent Party-Music-Machine

The Sony PG10 Portable Bluetooth Outdoor Speaker is made for outdoor parties. It's portable, has a long-lasting battery, a small table-top with 4 cup holders, and multiple inputs for sound sources - including a mic input. Simple bluetooth connection and Sony's solid apps offer plenty of options for how the sound is customized.
The design is ideal for placing your party drink (punch/keg) on top and using the cup holders to provide stacks of cups for your guests. The sound inputs are covered by a rubber seal cover which should protect them from the inevitable spills.
This is a well-thought-out product for it's intended use. Note that it is designed for higher volume output in a party setting. It is not made for high-fidelity sound in a relaxed, indoor setting.
If you're looking for a party-music machine, this is for you.

Deep bass, just bit lacking in the mids

I think too many speakers forget there's a mid-range sound that needs some love too. Sony doesn't break the trend with this unit. While the base and the treble are superb, the mid-tones are left out. They either come out the tweeters a bit to shrilly or out of the woofer with a little boxy reverb. If you're looking for balanced sound this will disappoint.
Balanced sound isn't what Sony was going for with this unit. The woofer pushes a lot of bass and deep, especial with Mega-bass turned on. This was made for parties or chllin' outside so you can unleash the sound. When the unit is closed the tweeters are closer together and you get a more focused sound - open up the "tray" and the profile switches and you get a wider sound-stage with very good separation. I prefer having it open at all times because the sound is better in my opinion. Pushing out a lot of sound is what the PG10 does well.
There is an app for controlling the unit, but I'm not a fan of downloading random apps an cluttering my phone and avoid unnecessary apps. The PG10 works fine without the app so it's not a requirement.
The tray on the top is what seems to set this unit apart from most. It'll be great at the beach (if you don't mind a little sand in your box) but I still worry about spills. It's spill proof, but I don't want to be the on to test that out.
If you want a booming system where you can feel the bass this one does pretty good. Just wish there was more control to bring out the mids for my listening tastes.
