We watch a lot of fantasy and sci-fi shows and do a little gaming on our PlayStation. This is definitely how movies and gaming were meant to be at home. I can't believe all this sound comes out of a 3.1 channel bar.

Great soundbar, but with three fatal flaws

However, it takes a LOT of tweaking, many of its sound modes degrade sound quality, and most problematically: the sound cuts out frequently when running Atmos content (although it might just be a defective unit?). I have done some research on this matter and the solution might be to use the highest-end type of HDMI cable (48gbps), but I have another soundbar which delivers Atmos perfectly fine under the same conditions with normal high speed w/ethernet HDMI cables. Because of the sound issues, I cannot recommend this bar and will be returning it, though as said previously, it may just be a defective unit (it WAS purchased "Used - Satisfactory").

If you still have the unit, we'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please check these steps to troubleshoot and isolate the issue.
If the sound skips or has noise.
If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible.
Switch the wireless LAN frequency of any nearby wireless LAN router or PC to 5 GHz range.
Switch the network connection of the TV or Blu-ray Disc player from wireless to wired.
Also, please make sure the unit is up to date as this will improve the overall performance of the HT-G700 Soundbar.

Not-so-great sound bar

I opted for this sound bar to make it pairs via eARC with my Sony X900h but returned this G700 after a few hours testing it. All the online reviews saying its an average sound bar is true. Its good for news watching with Center channel, so-so for TV, and bad for music listening. It feels very under-powered and the price tag is pretty steep comparing with other brand given its sound quality. The built-in speaker of my 75'' X900h seems giving better sound than this sound bar.

It goes back-and-forth to the TV speakers into the sound bar. I called Sony the very first week I purchased it and that was over a year ago and they are very rude, Not professional it did not help me solve the problem.

For the dialogue issue, setting the Voice function to On will make dialogues easily heard by enhancing dialogue range on the HTG700 Soundbar. This can be enabled or disabled by pressing the Voice button on the Sony Remote. You may also try the Night mode feature of the HTG700. Night mode function outputs the sound at low volume with minimum loss of fidelity and clarity of dialogue.

Good clear sound but not heavy on bass. This is perfect for a midsize family room. If you want deep heavy theater sound this is not for you. But if you want clear crisp sounds with balanced bass this is perfect.

Adding this sound bar has solved the sound issue. The bass is good, and the stereo sound is excellent. Integration via the eARC HDMI port on the Sony TV is seamless. I have used it for about a month and really like it.
