How am I supposed to plug the thing in. Its useless when selling it to me like that. But customer service was very helpful with the refund, so its all good

The box was not actually open, but had been by a previous buyer who returned it, I imagine. It was resealed with Best Buy tape and was labelled as "missing documentation". It was not actually missing documentation, but was missing the factory remote. Irritating as this was, I then spent a half hour waiting on their automated phone system only to be told that they couldn't help me. Their phone system is not connected to the local store so I would have to GO BACK to the store to see what they would do. Aside from the drive, the store was helpful but could only give me an account credit, not the missing remote. One other slightly irritating thing ... I bought this to link it with my SONY 55" TV. This sound bar is the SONY suggested match for my TV model. Anyway, it takes a rather long time for the sound to come on when the system is turned on ... And once or twice, the sound has not come on at all and I had to switch to the TV speakers and try again later. This is WHY I chose a SONY sound bar ... so I would NOT have any such issues. On the whole, the sound is very good, however. I just expected better product coordination ...

We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please try these steps to isolate and troubleshoot the issue that you are having with your soundbar.
First, please make sure that the soundbar is up to date with the firmware (version 1.055) as this will improve the overall performance of the soundbar. Unplug the Soundbar power cord and plug it back in
1. Turn off the soundbar.
2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
3. After one minute, replug the power cable back to the wall outlet.
4. Turn on the soundbar.
Verify if this resolves the issue.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable or the optical digital cable and then reconnect it
- Disconnect the cable from the soundbar and playback device and then reconnect the cable.
If the issue is resolved, the issue may have been caused by a faulty connection with the cable.
- If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
- If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
- Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
- Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible

Not as dramatic as a full 5 speaker surround system so don’t expect that. Way better/fuller than a high def TV on its own and that’s what I bought it for.

Note that when the input source, such as in TV programs, does not contain much bass sound, the bass sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. So close, but so far

The store demo sounded incredible, but at home the sound quality was only so-so. Disappointing performance for the price. Most Atmos setups rely on top-firing speakers. The Sony uses a virtualization to try and achieve this, and it's not quite there, especially at lower volumes. At this price point I expected what I paid for and did not get it.

No bass and weak soundbar performance

But my short experience with this soundbar does not reflect anything excellent from a sonic standpoint. So maybe the issue is with a bad component that was mislabeled by BB or this soundbar just isn't any good. I found the bass to be almost non-existent or muddy at best even when cranked up to its highest level. And the soundbar itself was just ok on its own. Regardless, I returned it to BB for the above reasons. And to top it off, the item was missing the remote. I had to buy a replacement as BB couldn't supply me with just the remote. As it stands and based on my own brief experience with this soundbar, I couldn't recommend it at all despite the many glowing reviews on this website. Maybe the unit was bad and BB didn't catch that even though the box was mark as inspected.

solid soundbar but.....

I'd say my last sony soundbar which I gave to my dad i wish I could have kept it and bought him a different soundbar /-:

On some programs voice sound is overwhelmed by sound effects and music. On some movies voice sound is very clear. Surround sound sometimes is not really distinct. Overall I probably should have looked for another sound bar. But it is a Sony and the controls are very easy to operate and setup was flawless with my Sony tv.

Check that all the cables and cords of the system and connected device are firmly inserted.
Make sure that the firmware version of the unit is up to date.
Try to select different Sound Mode options which are pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources.
