Perfect sound bar for my needs

The set up was done by my son who interconnected the sound bar with DVD player and Apple TV using hdmi cabling. Easy to switch the source output using the sound bar remote.

Not for use with multiple units in close proximity

The Sony soundbar with the Wireless subwoofer cannot be used in close proximity to another of the same Sony type device. The Subwoofer wanders to the stronger signal and you end up with one audio track on the soundbar and a different one on the Subwoofer. We returned the units and exchanged for Sonos which does not have the same design. The single Sony remaining works well.

If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible.
Switch the wireless LAN frequency of any nearby wireless LAN router or PC to 5 GHz range.

Real surround with the right space
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I placed this soundbar on two spaces— a small-to-medium sized room (around 60 sq ft)with a 55 inch TV and one open living room space with an 86 inch TV. On the smaller space, with the 55 inch TV, the soundbar sounded great. The sound impact was very engaging and the sub was overpowering. I did hear really good stereo effects however, I could not experience much surround dynamics—it was like any other soundbar. On the bigger space, this Sony soundbar was a little soft, like I was waiting for the sound to get more immersive in some scenes. This experience is not just compared to the smaller room, but compared to the soundbar that is coupled with my 86 incher. The power is not enough, HOWEVER, with the wider space, I can hear the depth, height and direction throw of the sounds. With some Dolby Atmos animal habitat documentary going on, the dynamism of the sound was very distinct. It was like me having separate speakers in different corners of the room. It was some sort of sorcery placed in the speakers. The subwoofer is something else too. I usually place my subwoofers beside the couch or beside the front console—on my usual setup, it was like any other subwoofer. THEN, I tried placing the subwoofer a little way behind the couch, on the room corner and it enhanced the whole experience—like it helped make the surround experience more prominent. In terms of connections, it is very easy. The interface and directions are easy to understand and the HDMI linking makes it sync with my TV remote, so at least, the volume is manageable. To experience its different settings though, I have to keep the actual sound bar remote beside me to switch modes. On both set ups, small and big, the voice is crisp. I just think this soundbar has to be in the right space to maximize its qualities. I say, this will be great in a medium-sized room with height and good depth to experience what it has to offer. In a big space, this soundbar lacks power. Don’t get me wrong, again, when I can hear the distinct sounds, I can really feel a bird flutter from my top back left to my top front. I don’t think I have experienced this kind of space distinction in a sound bar (and I’ve had many). I am 100% sure though, in the right space, this soundbar will excel.

I had purchased a sound bar last year but wanted something that sounded a little better on the voice end. The sales person pointed out the Sony sound bar in the store. I had him turn on the sound bar in the store so that I may have a listen. The Sony sounded really good in the store and had a lot of bass to it (like I like). I got it home and hooked it up. It did not sound nothing like it sounded in the store. I was sooooo disappointed. You couldn’t even hear the bass, even with a the sub woofer turned to the highest level. The other sound bar I purchased last year sub woofer is awesome. Had to turn it down to lower level cause it shook the entire house. So dissatisfied with the Sony. For the price I paid for the Sony it was not worth it.

Make sure that the firmware version of the unit is up to date.
Try to select different Sound Mode options which are pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources.
Also, the subwoofer is designed for playback of bass or low frequency sound. If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), the sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear.

For optimum performance, it is recommended to install the latest software version of the soundbar. Sound from the subwoofer may be hard to hear when the input source has less bass sound, such as TV broadcast. Make sure the Sound Field Optimization is complete. Does not connect with Spectrum internet!!

The Toshiba TV does nothing work with there internet hook up!!! So I Cannot use my TV to look at my e-mails!!!

Truly an immersive experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There is only one caveat about the Sony HT-G700 that I must get out of the way immediately. A sound bar at this performance level should come with a fully-featured remote that can be programmed as a universal remote. The remote that the HT-G700 comes with only has a volume button and "mode" buttons for various sound settings like: Voice, Immersive, Cinema, etc... I have a fairly simple set up, my Television (non-Sony), my DirecTV, and now my Sony HT-G700. My DirecTV remote can turn on my TV and control the volume of the TV, its simple and easy. However, now I have a sound bar that needs a 2nd remote to control volume. I have 2 choices now, either use 2 remotes (which is not acceptable, this is 2020) or buy a new universal remote. There are other "lesser" sound bars on the market that recognize this and come with full functioning universal remotes. Despite the lack of a full functioning remote, this sound bar is an incredible device. The immersive audio mode is unbelievable, Sony found a way to give me and my family a surround sound experience without having to set up 7 speakers. Sony supports the newer Dolby Atmos used in a lot of newer UHD 4K Streaming services and movies on iTunes. The sub woofer has 12 “steps” to turn the power up or down depending on your room size or the content you are watching. I personally found my sweet stop to be at about 5, giving my Movies and TV shows a rich sound experience. The last feature that I can’t wait to talk about is the “Voice” mode. In our house, we like to watch a lot of talk shows and drama shows where the conversations are very important to hear and understand. I love how clear every spokesperson and actor sounds when using the voice feature. Its crystal clear and I never have to playback 10 seconds because of lack of clarity. This sound bar is a huge WIN by Sony, but I still need to go find myself a new Universal remote that will somehow support the different modes (Immersive, Cinema, Voice…) I don’t think I will find one, sadly, forcing me to use 2 remotes.

Great sound bar for voices from center speaker
