We are glad you like the sound quality of the soundbar. The subwoofer is designed for the playback of the bass sound. When the input source does not contain much bass sound, as is the case with most TV programs, the bass sound may not be audible. Staticky and noisy-Quality less than expected

The sound gets staticky every day for no reason. Its very annoying. I have to change the channel and then return to the original channel to make the sound work properly again.. Would not expect this for the price of the product and Sony reputation. I.t was easy to set up

Glad to know you appreciate the sound quality of the soundbar. We apologize, the HT-G700 does not support all the features associated with HDMI 2.1. All HDMI IN and HDMI OUT (TV eARC/ARC) jacks support transmission of 4K 60p, bandwidth up to 18 Gbps, and HDR (High Dynamic Range) contents pass-through. Please make sure to use a Premium High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet that supports 18 Gbps.

The connection between the subwoofer and the sound bar would cut in and out for no rhyme or reason. I tried moving the subwoofer, manually relinking the sound bar to the subwoofer, and did an update. Nothing worked. Contacted customer support and they had me run through the same steps with the same result: It still didn't work. So, they send me a shipping label to send the unit to be repaired. Avoid this unit and possibly any Sony product with this feature.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this after researching soundbars to replace an old Sony 5.1 speaker kit I bought at an outlet almost 20 years ago. The reviews seemed to be good, and it was on sale for $200 off retail. I bought it and it returned it one day after installing it. The unit itself is nice construction and it makes sound. That’s one star for each point. Beyond that, the sound it produces is inconsistent, harsh and unbalanced. The subwoofer (even at full volume) was either inaudible or too loud. Watching a football game, the crowd noise was loud and sounded like it was projected from a coffee can. Shows were too quiet, and commercials way too loud. I tried every mode and setting I could find between the sound bar and my Sony TV, but there was no happy medium. If it had any kind of manual EQ it may have saved the purchase, but no such luck. I’m happy Best Buy made it very easy to return. I ended up taking a shot with a Samsung HWQ70T, and it was a ,inch better sound out of the box, has EQ settings, and was the same price.

Don’t waste your money

It randomly (and often) doesn’t work. You have to turn it off and on again multiple times. And then sometimes while it’s working, it just cuts out. Watching TV with decent sound should never be this difficult.

We'd love to troubleshoot this issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please follow these steps to troubleshoot and isolate the problem.
Unplug the Soundbar power cord and plug it back in
1. Turn off the soundbar.
2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
3. After one minute, replug the power cable back to the wall outlet.
4. Turn on the soundbar.
Verify if this resolves the issue. If the issue still occurs, please follow the steps below.
- Disconnect the HDMI cable or the optical digital cable and then reconnect it
- Disconnect the cable from the soundbar and playback device and then reconnect the cable.
If the issue is resolved, the issue may have been caused by a faulty connection with the cable.
- If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
- If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
- Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
- Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible

For optimum performance, it is recommended to install the latest software version of the soundbar. The subwoofer is a speaker for playing bass sounds. Sound from the subwoofer may be hard to hear when the input source has less bass sound, such as TV broadcast. Make sure the Sound Field Optimization is complete. With the built-in sound settings of the soundbar, you can tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs.
