Don't waste the extra $300. Also the text on the sound bar is insanely small. You have to walk up to it to know what it says. Very frustrating

The best sound bar I've ever used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a great sound bar. It looks great and really packs a punch. Upon unboxing I was immediately impressed with how simple it is to set up. The bar can be mounted in different ways which would make things a bit more complicated, but if you just set it on the tv stand like I did, it’s a piece of cake. I set put one HDMI between it and my tv, and a second between it and my PS4 and I was ready to go in a few minutes. The wireless subwoofer helps a lot. You can just find a place for it next to a plug and you’re good to go. No worrying about wires and how to connected it or get an extension cord to place it close enough to the sound bar and still have power, etc. Once it was up and running, I could tell the speakers were great quality. The sound is clear and strong. Even when I turned up the volume I could hear everything without sounds getting muddled together and with voice clear and distinct. I had the volume way up and was playing Spider-man, when my daughter came in and exclaimed that the game seemed so much more real. That loud and clear sound also helps to really fill the room with sound. It really gives you an immersive feeling. I especially like the subwoofer. This thing puts out a lot of power and sound given its price point. The upscaling option is nice and seams to help make it feel a bit more surround sounding, but it wasn’t significant enough for me to know if it was real or just in my head. The dedicated center speaker really did help with the dialogue in movies being clearer, especially at lower volumes where you may have to really focus on softer voices. However, it only really worked right if the audio coming into the speaker was coming in using a more advanced format. Youtube, audio from my phone, and a few simple indie games might as well have only had 2 channels and there wasn’t much the bar could do to fix the issues in the original audio. Games and movies on my PS4 that were designed for digital audio and multi channels worked great. That whole idea of crap in, crap out holds true here too, so if you still aren’t getting the sound you want after getting this bar, you may need to look at the source of the audio signal and upgrade that as well. I tested out the other features like Bluetooth capabilities and night mode. Both worked fine and I have no complaints about them, but I have to admit that in my setup they aren’t really needed much so I don’t have a strong feeling for what features really need to shine or not. While this is intended to go with my older second TV, I decided to hook it up to our main TV just to try it out. My old TV is over 10 years old and is a Sharp so not the most compatible for all the new features. My main Tv is a 2 year old Sony and I thought I’d see how everything played together. I have to say that having a matching Sony TV really makes a difference. I could control everything with 1 remote. Things turn on and off together. My newer TV actually has the return audio channel. I also felt like the system worked more smoothly together and as a result the sound bar could just do its job so much easier. Maybe it was all in my head and I’m just trying to convince myself to upgrade my other TV. I also have a true surround sound system in that room so I was able to really compare the two systems. I did say that this sound bar is immersive but being a sound bar it is a more generalized immersive feeling rather than the really specific detailed sounds you get from a surround sound system. I have a few games I play on my PS4 that have traffic noises, crackling fires or other sounds that you can hear behind you. With my surround sound system it actually sounds like its coming from behind you, and even exactly where and how far to the left or right. With the sound bar, you get the general impression that the sound is coming from behind you, but you can’t really pinpoint from exactly what direction. For most people they won’t even notice the difference, but that was my experience for those that may be really nit-picky about that kind of thing. Also, the sound bar works using some very sophisticated technology to time when sounds come out of speakers and at what volume. The controller in the sound bar must count on a certain degree of bouncing off walls and ceilings to get that immersive experience. I say this because in my much bigger open room with vaulted ceilings the bar seemed to struggle more to get that surround sound but had less problems in my smaller room. Regardless of the slight struggle, the bar did do a good job filling even my larger room and moving from one side of the room to the other I didn’t really get the feeling that there were any dead spots. Overall, this sound bar is worlds better than the speakers that come with pretty much any TV you would buy. It has a great sleek look, is a breeze to set up and doesn’t require running any wires to make it work. This is perfect for anyone living in a rental or for putting in a bedroom someplace where space is more limited. If you have just been using the speakers built into your TV up to this point, get this soundbar and you won’t regret it.

I have to monkey with it so that audio sync lines up. Sounds okay, but for the price, I expected WAY better. I should've returned it.

If the TV picture has a delay with the audio on the soundbar, you can adjust the delay between the picture and sound. You can adjust from 0 msec to 120 msec in 40 msec increments. The default setting is [0ms]. Also, if your TV or device connected to the soundbar has a function that delays the image, please use it for adjustment.

Not bad but also not amazing

I don't notice a ton of difference between the preset sound modes. Playing music via BT sounds like it's in an empty hall regardless of trying all the settings.

-Make sure that the firmware version of the unit is up to date.
-Try to select different Sound Mode options which are pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources.
-Turn on the IMMERSIVE AE function.
-Check if night mode is disabled. Night mode function outputs the sound at low volume with minimum loss of fidelity and clarity of dialogue. Press the NIGHT button on the supplied remote to set the function on or off.

In the meantime, please try setting the HTG700 to one of the preset modes that we have to get a better sound quality based on the content being played.
The HTG700 has a variety of sound modes to help enhance your listening and viewing experience.
Standard Mode - This will allow you to hear the sound of a TV program clearly.
Cinema - This mode is suitable for watching movies. You feel immersed by the sound that travels behind you and surrounds your entire body
Music - Vividness, and glossiness of the sound are expressed in detail. This mode is suitable for enjoying music in a way that moves you
You can also use AUTO SOUND mode which will change the Sound Mode from Standard, Cinema, and Music based on the content played.
