    Purchased this as an open box. Great price but we had trouble getting the subwoofer to connect and the sound bar sound was not what was expected. Ended up returning and picking up a Bose sound bar

    The background music and sounds are too loud making it so that I can't hear the voices. In an action movie I had to turn the sound down in the action scenes and then turn it way up to hear the conversations.

    Not good. Bought to pair with new A80j tv and the built in TV speakers are much better. Tried all the settings. Not good. Turn the volume up, and the loud scenes will shake the house. Not good. Turn the volume down, now you can’t hear the normal, quiet scenes. Not good. Turn it back up. You get the idea. Not good. Tried to give this system a chance and try everything possible, but this is what you’ll get with these speakers: Inconsistent volume. Mediocre sound. Occasional connection issues. And of course now, I’m beyond the return period. NOT GOOD.

      For the sound quality, you can adjust the sound quality of the soundbar by using the remote buttons to set it to Auto Sound, STANDARD, CINEMA, or MUSIC. Also, the surround quality differs depending on the sound source.

      Setting the Voice function to On will make dialogues easily heard by enhancing the dialogue range on the HTG700 Soundbar. This can be enabled or disabled by pressing the Voice button on the Sony Remote.

      If you are experiencing audio cut-off issues with the HTG700, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue.

      Unplug the Soundbar power cord and plug it back in

      1. Turn off the soundbar.
      2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
      3. After one minute, replug the power cable back to the wall outlet.
      4. Turn on the soundbar.

      Verify if this resolves the issue.

      - Disconnect the HDMI cable or the optical digital cable and then reconnect it
      - Disconnect the cable from the soundbar and playback device and then reconnect the cable.

      If the issue is resolved, the issue may have been caused by a faulty connection with the cable.

      - If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
      - If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
      - Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
      - Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible

    The sound quality is ok. If you're fine with being stuck at 3.1 surround sound and not being able to upgrade it. Go for it. If you want better sound, features, and able to upgrade it to a 5.1 later on get the higher model.

    Sony Sound Bar muffles dialogue, background noise

    We purchased the Sony sound bar system with our new TV purchase. We had an older version but assumed the technology had advanced. Honestly, our old system was better. The new system muffles dialogue and enhances the background noise. The volume has to be high to hear voices but then we get blasted by everything else. We have tried the various sound settings but the balance between voices and other sounds is extremely poor. Unfortunately, I only saw later that other reviewers have complained about this same issue. I would NOT recommend this purchase.

      For voice/dialog, we are not sure what brand/model of TV you have your HT-G700 connected to. However, please ensure that the VOICE mode feature of your soundbar is turned on. You may refer to the link below for more details:

    DON'T WASTE YOUR $$$.....DONT WASTE YOUR $$$ I dont usually leave reviews but this is worth me taking time out my day I bought this sound bar system based off how it sounded in the store...well when I got home hooked it up to my Sony tv "ARC" and it sounded no where and I mean no where close to how it sounded in the store...I tried everything to get it close to the sound funny thing g I had DTV guy installing my DTV try to do some tweaking and he laughed and said this is TRASH...lol and I agree taki8this back today WAY TO MUCH for something that sounds like a clock radio...NO BASS with the sub turned to max

      The G700 has a variety of sound modes to help enhance your viewing experience. We recommend using the Cinema mode for your TV content. Various reasons can cause noise interference to the sound from the subwoofer. This issue may also occur when the main unit and the subwoofer are not linked. Follow these instructions to resolve the issue:

      • If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
      • If there is an obstacle between the bar speaker and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
      • Do not cover the top of the bar speaker with metal objects such as TV frame, etc. Wireless functions may become unstable.
      • Locate the bar speaker and the subwoofer as close as possible.
      • Switch the wireless LAN frequency of any nearby wireless LAN router or PC to 5 GHz range.
      • Switch the network connection of the TV or Blu-ray Disc player from wireless to wired.

    HDMI passthrough is broken.

    This soundbar can't pass through Dolby vision. Have my 2019 Shield TV connected to the bar and the bar connected to my Vizio m658g1. As soon as I enable Dolby Vision on the shield, the HDMI ports stop working. Can't view any DV titles on Netflix or Disney+. If I try and play any 4k HDR Atmos BD rips with Plex, I get nothing but stutters and audio drops. Thought it might be defective. Replacement is acting the exact same way. I tired numerous different cables that I know work on my 4K home theater setup downstairs. Even tried a different Shield TV in case that was the issue. No change. Sony support is horrible.

      We apologize the HT-G700 did not meet your expectations. We have tested the HT-G700 using the Nvidia Shield passing through the G700’s Input and into a Sony TV and have had both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos passthrough.

      Please check on the soundbar that the HDMI setting is set to Enhanced. You can access that by pressing Menu on the remote, scroll down to HDMI and then Format. Verify the setting is on Enhanced.

    This is better than the tv speakers. For the price you can do much better. The bass/ subwoofer is almost non existent. The vocals are decent.

    Needed to self update out of box. Get a flash drive. Download from computer. Upload to soundbar. Thought was brand new? I’m not a tech guy. Took me days to figure out.sound cuts out and shuts off. No satisfaction from Sony or Best Buy.

    From time to time, the sound gets jumbled. The soundbar says it's switching from Dolby Digital or whatever to standard. It's quite annoying and I must change the channel to reset it.

    Sounded good in the store but hooked it up at home and sounds like your in a tin box, Sony has gone down hill with their systems. Will stick to Bose from now on.

    Going great after four years

    I’ve had this for four years now. It seamlessly connects to my Sony Tv. The sound is great and natural for the price. I enjoy movies and sports with this sound bar. There are two cons to this. First, the subwoofer just randomly stops working(a quick switching on and off fixes this and this happens only once in about 6 weeks). Second, I can’t connect it to my watch home via Bluetooth is tv is on. Overall, it’s a great purchase.

When the input source does not contain much bass sound, such as in TV programs, the bass sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. The subwoofer is designed for playback of bass or low frequency sound. You can adjust the bass by using the (subwoofer volume) SW +/– on the supplied remote.

    Cannot mounts this sound bar to drywall.

    This sound bar has no mounting hardware to mount to drywall. The manual recommends using two screws (not provided) to mount the wall. Impossible!

    Worst sound bar I’ve purchased. I’ve bought Walmart brands that sounded better than this. Returned is the next day.

      Hi there, we are sorry to hear that the HTG700 did not meet your expectations when it comes to the sound quality and had to return it. You can adjust the sound quality of the soundbar by using the remote buttons to set it to Auto Sound, STANDARD, CINEMA, or MUSIC. Also, the surround quality differs depending on the sound source.
