Still getting to know the various settings, and it is a huge improvement over the TV speakers! Have discovered that when watching TV, if we rewind the DVR too many times in a row, the sound bar loses the sound and we have to turn the sound bar off and then on again to retrieve connection for sound. Seems like there are times the volume increases of its own accord - seems to be mostly during commercials. Set up was relatively easy.

When just casually watching tv I do wish the vocals were a bit louder and there’s no easy way to adjust sound settings. Music sounds amazing, way better than listening to tv or movies for some reason. Set up is really simple (idk why other reviewers had issues, it’s just 2 HDMI cables..). Unless you want to go all out and spend a bit more $ I think this is a great option!

Currently, pair with Sony TV KD-70X690E, and both work great together. I can't compare to any other Dolby Atmos Soundbar because I've never owned one. The elevation and immersive sounds are great but I'm sure it's not true Dolby Atmos with no up-forward-firing speaker. I was going to return it because I wanted to pick up a soundbar with the up forward-firing speaker but my wife loves the darn thing so much and the active Subwoofer makes the whole Soundbar to great to let go.

Sound Quality is Fantastic. Subwoofer is a Must.

Expect a lot of base from the subwoofer, though the sound from the soundbar itself is everything BUT the base. With that said, the subwoofer is a MUST. The one reason why I am giving this a 4 rather than 5 star, is because the subwoofer almost always has to be separately turned off itself. Turning on the soundbar does NOT turn on the subwoofer. Quite an annoyance that is an extremely easy fix, and is something I did not expect of Sony.

For this, the soundbar and the subwoofer should automatically connect with each other once the soundbar is turned on. If the subwoofer is turned off, you will need to manually turn it on for it to connect to the soundbar. If the soundbar does not connect to the subwoofer automatically even when the subwoofer is on, please try these steps to manually link the subwoofer with the soundbar.
1 Press MENU. [SPEAKER] appears in the front panel display.
2 Press up or down button to select [SPEAKER], then press ENTER.
3 Press [LINK], then press ENTER.
4 Select [START], then press ENTER. [LINK] flashes in the front panel display.
To cancel the manual connection, press BACK.
5 Press LINK on the subwoofer. The manual link starts. The power indicator of the subwoofer flashes in amber.
6 When [DONE] appears in the front panel display, press MENU. The link is established and the power indicator of the subwoofer lights in amber.

The highs are clear and the attack crisp enough to feel the finger plucks on a Segovia guitar piece. The mid range presents each instrument's individual notes distinctly. The "Immersive Audio Experience" allows you to pick out individual instruments in some bands, I am hearing new things on albums I've had for decades. And, of course, the subwoofer, positioned across the room from the sound bar, fills the room with rich and powerful base notes.

It gets loud! I've had this for almost 2 years now and I'm astounded how clear the highs and miss can be while the sun can rumble the living room floor for that full cinematic experience! Will this compete with a fully discrete higher end system? No. However, at this price point it's sure to impress and will be hard to beat. Very happy. Compliments my QN90A very well. I do have some issues when using eArc dropping out and it seems to be fine wo it. Not sure what I may be losing out on there but to my ears at this price I still find it to be a great value

Does feels like sound is enveloping you but only at volume set to 55+. Gave only 4 stars instead of 5 because while watching movies, the volume of voice gets supressed by the background music/noise in the scene making it hard to understand dialogue. This can be easily fixed by increasing volume to 65+. Other than that everything is great.

Underwhelming for the price

I bought this, thinking it was a decent mid-tier option. Overall, the soundbar+sub combo is okay, but far from great. The vocals are clear and accurate, but the speakers in the soundbar must be too small, as the subwoofer is EXTREMELY easy to localize, so I think the crossover Sony has is too high. No matter how low I put the subwoofer volume, when watching content, you can easily tell in the room where the sub is placed, which should never happen. Also, to call this soundbar a Dolby Atmos soundbar is a joke, This is normal soundbar - when watching all the demos I use for my 9.1 system in my theater, I cannot hear a single "overhead" effect...even demos specifically designed to show off Dolby Atmos. Overall, I'll keep the soundbar, as the TV speakers are garbage, but this is likely WELL OVERPRICED, given the subwoofer is garbage and it definitely doesn't have DOLBY ATMOS capability that is worth a lick.

Please try to select different Sound Mode options which are pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources.
Standard Mode - This will allow you to hear the sound of a TV program clearly.
Cinema - This mode is suitable for watching movies. You feel immersed by the sound that travels behind you and surrounds your entire body
Music - Vividness, and glossiness of the sound are expressed in detail. This mode is suitable for enjoying music in a way that moves you
You can also use AUTO SOUND mode which will change the Sound Mode from Standard, Cinema, and Music based on the content played.
