Great flash for Sony cameras. It’s so easy to use and flash power is so nice that u can burst with ur Sony cameras without losing flash power as much

This flash works great with my A7iii, but sure does use some batteries. I used this flash for a wedding and I went through 12 batteries. This flash work great but make use you have a lot of batteries.

This flash is great! This is my first time venturing into flash photography and this is amazing! It’s very bright, has a ton of awesome features, and works great with my a6300. The led light is also nice for shooting video in dark areas. It’s pricey, but after trying a third-party flash and then buying this one, the money is worth it! I can shoot over 8fps on my a6300 and this thing will keep up!

Overall, the HVL-F45RM works well on my Sony a6300. It is well sized for mirrorless cameras and provides adequate power for most situations. The LED light is helpful when a little extra light is needed when shooting video. There is no autofocus illumination assist with this flash which is a bit of a miss compared to other flash systems. I switched from Canon to Sony to go mirrorless. I do feel that Sony's flash exposure is less consistent from frame-to-frame compared to Canon. The one problem I have encountered is when trying to optically trigger the HVL-F45 off-camera. All my photos come out significantly under-exposed when using TTL. I can get proper exposure in manual flash mode but that is not convenient. I have tried a new F45 flash, a new F20 as the trigger, and I tried a different a6300 and still had the issue. It also didn't work when triggering the F45 with another F45. There appears to be an issue with the TTL metering when off-camera. I have been working with Sony's Advanced Customer Support. I have sent them images and even a video detailing the setup resulting in the problem. So far Sony's customer support has been good to work with but It has been a few weeks and no explanation yet for the under-exposure issue.

I would recommend this if you don't mind paying a lot more than aftermarket brands. It will do whatever it is supposed to. You don't need to google if certain aftermarket brands are compatible with the socket. Less in your head. You will be happy with the purchase. However, if you just want to pay 1/3 or 1/4 of the price with similar result. This is not for you. It's a good idea you can use that 2/3-3/4 saving to get other accessories like lens.

First I have a Sony RX10 IV camera. The pictures I've been taking since I got the camera over a year ago have been either hit or miss depending on background lighting. In most outdoor conditions, the camera's built-in flash was sufficient and the pictures came out nice and sharp. However....in most indoor situations, the camera's flash was never enough to capture the details of the background when the subject(s) is 6 feet or more away from the camera. Then came this Sony HVL-F45RM flash and suddenly the problem with grainy pictures or loss of background details went away. For outdoors especially in beach front locations or snow pack mountains or where subjects are far away in the background, the flash was powerful enough to highlight the subject to give a warm color tone.

I now have three F45RM speedlites. I use them in sync for portrait, automotive, real estate, and art photography. They are small, lite, powerful, and perfect for on-site photography.

It's as powerful as buying a strobe...buy this until you can afford a strobe light.

For this serious amateur, the flash can be left on automatic to sync with RX1 settings, or used in manual mode when being more creative.

This flash works great. I bought it when I had an a6300. Now I use it on an a7iii. The size is perfect for the a7iii. The video light feature does come in handy in a pinch. I think Sony still has some work to do in the flash exposure logic but overall this is a great flash unit.

The flash is smaller than I expected but the size and weight are actually perfect for my A7iii. Even with a smaller size, it is powerful enough to light up subjects in most low-light situations for me. I have only tried it in auto mode so far hence can't comment on the manual modes yet.

This products works really great. I am using it with a Sony A7Riii mirrorless camera, and it basically work as soon as it’s connected to the hot shoe. Settings are easy to navigate and the instructions will allow you to set the light how you want to the best conditions.

Easy to use commander and slave flash. Good guide numbers and quick recycle time. A little small but good flash that I will use with my Rotolight flash system.

If you have the extra cash the upgrade is worth it. The features make this product work but for the price it’s a big expensive. The extra 200 for the next step up gives considerable power and function. Flash has upgraded my pictures in low light situations without needing to get high iso high grain.

Great speed and flash with this one. I’ve heard it drains your batteries but hasn’t been the issue as of yet. Pics come out great!

This flash packs a punch. Easy to use and the flash is very versatile. Can rotate the head and has a middle light for your videos.

Nice intermediate sized flash, lots of power for the size. Not too heavy for camera mount, works great on direct and bounce flash modes.

I have purchase 2 of these flash lights for my Sony Alpha RIII and my Sony Alpha RIV. Both of the flash lights works like a charm. Due to the Alpha DSLR's do not offer built in flash lights, the external flash become essential to low light photo shooting. One good thing about this flash is it comes with a video light which aid the photographers to shoot video in video session.
