Enjoyable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loved it. I recommend it more for when you want to play solo games I don’t really recommend it for games like Rivals, Apex, Battlefield etc, because it is a slight delay.

PS5 portal
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great device for remote play. The PlayStation Portal is easy to set up and works smoothly with my PS5. The screen looks great, controls feel just like a DualSense, and it’s perfect for gaming away from the TV. Really convenient and well designed.

Exactly what I expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The portal is everything I wanted it to be. I don't take it out of my house so I can't comment on use at a distance but for me to just get tired of sitting in one spot, I can just get up and take it with me to another room. I love it

Way better than I expected.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn’t expect to love this thing as much as I did. It runs shockingly well and way better than I expected a streaming device to. I’m genuinely impressed how well it works with any game I’ve played on it so far, from fps, RPGs and even MMOs (FFXIV). There’s nothing more I can really say about it. It just works. Just keep in mind, as with any and every streaming device, your experience and enjoyment with it will depend on your ISP. If you have a good internet provider and speed, your experience will reflect mine. If your internet isn’t quite up to the task, your experience will most likely not be as robust as mine is.

PS Portal solves a Problem
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Portal was exactly what I was looking for so I wouldn’t be restricted to playing where my PS5 was. Battery life could definitely be better and WiFi strength is a big part of if this product would be even useful. I needed to hardwire my PS5 to even use the portal reliably and there are still some dead spots where I get choppy connection. That’s not necessarily the portals fault but something to consider when buying this product.

Portal use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can travel with it and play remotely. It sometimes lags and disconnects from playstation but that has to do with how many things are on the network. It eats up data so be careful when using mobile hotspot. Overall if you are using it at home it is good.

PS Portal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does everything that it promises, and nothing that it doesn't. Screen looks good, but is a little small for some games. WiFi connections are not great, and even with WiFi connected, sometimes will not connect to your PS5.

Why not
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need strong WiFi and a premium PlayStation plus account, but if those things are something that isn’t a decision maker. This device is definitely something to get, it’s great for being around the house, or traveling on a hotspot when you need a bit of a gaming fix in .

Honest Review
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to play from the comfort of my bed when I don’t wanna be sitting next to my TV screen. So long as you have a strong Internet connection you will have no issues with game drops or graphics dropping resolution. If you are using this at home, you can use your Bluetooth gaming headset since they are connected to the PlayStation five. You can take this with you and use it with your hotspot but just know that I timed my hotspot data usage with this and saw that in 45 minutes of playing call of duty I burned through 5 GB of hotspot. You cannot use any Bluetooth device with this if you’re outside of the home however it does have the earphone jack and most gaming headsets have a headphone auxiliary connection. Do not listen to false reviews of people who do not own one. Those reviews are just speculation and assumptions. you can take this out of the house. The only thing you need to do is have the PlayStation on rest mode at all times otherwise you will not be able to turn it on remotely if your PlayStation is completely turned off which is OK with me since I like to leave it on rest mode at all times to download any updates that are available. Overall, I believe this is a good handheld device. If you do not want to be sitting in front of your TV screen or want to go anywhere outside of your home that has a solid Wi-Fi connection. This will work for you. If your phone plan has a lot of gigabytes of data for hotspot it will work for you too. I like this device a lot when setting it up I was a bit scared as the resolution looked pretty bad, but took a few minutes to go from 420 to 1080 P during initial set up. i never had any issues since. Trust me just purchase one you want regret it at 200 bucks this is a gaming device.

Love the portability
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great device to use when you dont want to turn on your TV and disturb family/roomates. It's super nice that you can go anywhere with it as long as you have a wifi connection and the PS app, though I definitely use it mostly at my home juat because its more convenient than the TV.

PlayStation Portal Review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very well put together system. Graphics are good. Was worried about screen size but it’s actually a good sized touch screen which was a plus as well. Aside from needing WiFi to use it’s a great product. If you questioning rather you should purchase the PlayStation portal or not, my suggestion is to make the purchase.

Great Device if You Have Family/Kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe this device works perfectly for someone who has family/kids. Personally for me, I can't be in my gaming room all day when I have a wife & a kid. My wife & I co sleep with our son and it would be selfish of me to go to my gaming room everynight while my wife is stuck in bed with our son. There are times where my wife want's times for herself which mean I'll be putting my son to sleep instead of her. Now, there are a lot of people bashing on this device because you can already remote play with your phone/tablet and I've been doing that with my phone using the Backbone. Here are two things that I like about this PlayStation Portal over using a Backbone. 1) The screen size is bigger. My phone is only 6.3" so having that 8 inch is a plus for me. I personally don't care that the screen is an LCD that doesn't bother me at all. 2) Being able to use a Duelsense controller with all the heptic feed back is a plus. You don't get that feeling using a Backbone and to be honest. My hands gets fatigue afte about an house using a Backbone where else I don't get that using the Playstation Portal. Yes! you can connect your Duelsense to a tablet and get a bigger display than the PlayStation Portal, but you have to place your tablet on a table. You can't lay in bed with a tablet while using your Duelsense which is where this PlayStation Portal shines to me. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A FAMILY/KIDS THAN THIS DEVICE ISN'T FOR YOU. NO REASON WHY YOU WOULD WANT IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO.

Good for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The travel case is good and the protective wrap is fine but it makes it diffuse to charge the Portal on the charging station when it's on. Charging station seems to work decent enough as long as the Portal has solid contact with the adapter. Not a bad purchase.

Sony handheld
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony handheld device is a plus. Its just a better way to travel without taking the entire game system with you. The size is good too. This is like alien technology. The charge lasts long but you must have good wifi for the best results. Im still learning how to use it so stay tuned for updates.

Neat device, poor connection
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 10 year old loves this device. It's portable, screen quality is good etc. The downside is the internet connection is really sketchy. It doesn't matter where we are it cuts out regularly. I assume this is an issue with all devices.

Good remote play device, with room for improvement
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PlayStation Portal is as comfortable to hold and use as the DualSense controller, and has the same haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of that controller. The lightweight design, ergonomics, and full DualSense experience are definitely highlights of the Portal. The 8" LCD screen is bright and vivid, and looks great for playing games. Though, many games seem to have at least some text that's a bit too small for that screen size, which might cause some eye fatigue (e.g. Disco Elysium's non-dialogue text). As a result, I found it more comfortable to play such games on the TV. Connection to PS5 (including waking it up from rest mode) felt seamless and sufficiently quick. I did not have any disconnection issues. One downside of the Portal is the extra latency it adds to controller inputs (measured as the time difference between changes on the TV screen and the Portal screen, using a 60 fps camera recording of both screens at once), which seems to be usually around 67 milliseconds (4 frames in 60 fps video), occasionally going down to 50 ms or so (3 frames). This is with a TP-Link Deco XE75 AXE5400 WiFi router with "optimized" channels, both PS5 and Portal "prioritized" on the router, PS5 wired to the router, and Portal connected to 5 GHz frequency WiFi network at 6 feet distance from the router. While the extra latency did not feel terrible, it was still noticeable for me in most games I've tried, especially when compared with playing directly on the TV. So, the latency might hinder players' performance in games that would benefit greatly from having quick reaction times or precise timing, like Returnal, rhythm games, and online competitive shooters, but it's probably fine for casual players, especially in slower-paced games. Another downside (at least with the current system software version, 2.0.6) seems to be the consistent and periodic micro-stutters or dropped frames (which last 2-3 seconds and happen every 10 seconds or so), to which some people are apparently less sensitive and therefore may not notice. Between those micro-stutters, updating of the screen actually felt as smooth as the TV screen and smoother than using Remote Play on some other devices (MacBook, iPhone, iPad). Hopefully, Sony can find a way to eliminate those micro-stutters in a future software update to further improve the Portal experience. The speakers sound OK for a handheld device. Though, they would sound even louder if they were directed toward the user (perpendicular to the screen) instead of upward (parallel to the screen) like they are now. The Pulse Explore earbuds do work well with the Portal. Charging the Portal using PS5's USB-A port has been somewhat slow (at a speed that would take around 3 hours to fully charge, though I never charged it from 0 to 100%). Also, the placement of Portal's charging port (behind its screen) makes it a bit hard to find and plug in the cable. It would be better if Sony at least made that USB-C port easier to see, e.g. by making its border a lighter color. The lack of support for PS+ Premium streaming or captive WiFi portal pages (for public networks) seem like weird omissions, as they would significantly increase the use cases for this device. Sony should really add those features in future software updates. And if they ever make a successor to this device, I hope they also add a couple of buttons on the back, which I missed when playing certain games (with jumping and dashing actions) after getting used to such buttons on the DualSense Edge controller. A larger-capacity battery with faster charging would also be a useful improvement.

It’s no Vita or PSP but…
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Squeezing in some PS5 Pro-ing away from the living room is great for any middle-aged gamer. Instead of feeling like I occasionally hog the TV, couch, and living room just to notch another hour of 120 hour or so on FF7: Rebirth. Or play my backlog of great indie hits like Dredge or Disco Elysium, I can just remote play anywhere in my home—like in the kitchen with my coffee while the eggs and bacon are on the skillet, or at night in bed with Powerwash Simulator or Sea of Stars and tea to wind down. Like many Sony fanboys and fan girls, I was pretty skeptical the device would work better than trying to stream PS4 games to your phone some years back (Backbone, anyone?). No it’s not the Vita 2, but as someone who’s only ever owned the Vita and Portable handhelds back in the day, there’s something far more intimate about PS5 Pro-ing on a device inches from your face instead of on a TV on the other side of a room. Yeah, no worries about somebody cutting back and forth in front of your game during pivotal cutscenes you’ve literally spent 100s of hours and the better part of the year reaching. It’s laughable but last I heard, there’s still no Bluetooth support and no—Sony’s upsell with those expensive earbuds won’t get a nibble out of me. You also can’t watch YouTube on it or your other streaming apps. No web browser either. Its sole function seems to be making sure that Last of Us Part 1 and Sony’s other first-party titles like Spider-Man 2 run as smooth as possible on the Portal. Portal isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who finds it harder and harder to put in gaming time as you get older, the device is totally worth owning. It feels very sturdy, but its awkward shape has caused me to drop it once or twice by the handle. If you decide to plunge into the Portalverse, do yourself a favor and buy a hard case for the handheld. I imagine accidentally sitting on a Portal is not quite the same as sitting on your phone.

PSP
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the PlayStation Portal for my daughter's birthday, and I have to say, it’s been a game-changer for her gaming experience. From the moment she opened it, she was thrilled with the sleek design and the promise of seamless gaming access. Setting up the device was straightforward, and within minutes, she was ready to start playing. The remote play feature works incredibly well, allowing her to stream her PS5 games directly to the Portal with minimal lag.
