Great for play when you are far and want to get fun

Excellent for what it is, despite its limitations. It just adds flexibility in where and how I play my PS5 games. Linking it up to my PS5 took a few minutes, and at first it didn’t register but after 2 attempts it worked and has worked consistently since. Latency is negligible at home, and battery life is impressive compared to traditional handheld PC’s given that it streams only. It feels premium and great in the hands, like holding an ps5 controller. It is worth it for gamers who want to play on the bed or on the couch if the tv is occupied. Is it a must have? Not necessarily. But I would definitely pick this 100% over playing off of an iPad/monitor with a controller or on my phone with an attachable controller.

The PS Portal plays and feels just like I wanted it to. The controllers feel great to hold and use, and I can use it for hours without fatigue. The screen does better without direct sunlight on it, but the screen not being OLED isn’t a deal breaker, as I believe it does contribute to the great battery life. I don’t play games that requiere absolutely zero lag or live service games so I can’t speak on that front, but for my singe player life, it works exceedingly well. Four stars due to the lack of Bluetooth connectivity and minor network issues.

By now most know the capabilities of this. Only plays on wifi, doesnt travel well for that reason, etc, etc. I knew this and knew i would only use it at home before bed or while someone else was using the tv. That being said I was cery excited. The hardware is a 5/5. Very cool design, same features as a PS5 controller with adaptive triggers, even the rainbow light effects. Very good and fun for arcade style games and RPGs. The cons: it is very hard to play precision games loke COD or Gran Turismo. Its hard to focus and there is minor but somewhat frequent lag (as expected playing these games over wifi, and yes, i have good wifi). Overall still glad i have it to play some relaxing rpg style games before bed.

Really love the controls and the design overall of the device, however, my Internet is not reliable enough to consistently hold a signal with my PS five. I found that streaming games over the cloud was actually better than remote play. However, remote play was the primary reason I bought it. For some reason, the remote play app on my Lenovo Legion go S actually performance is way more consistently than this device did. I’m not sure why it could just come down to the Wi-Fi chip being more current. Still I would recommend this device if you have a really solid mesh network in your home.

The PlayStation portal is a nice addition to the accessories section. This is solely for utilizing the remote play function. So here we go with the pros: excellent use of the ps5 controller, excellent home wifi connection remote play and great screen resolution. So the cons: poor input on controller when not utilizing home wifi, must have ps5 hardwired while utilizing the wifi on portal, and disconnects to often when utilizing other wifi outside of home with 10-15 mbs. I recommend purchasing this on sale for $99. If you have the money to waste, go ahead and buy now. The ifea is terrific, but where is the function to play offline. The option to have a dedicated hard drive for single player offline games is a must which is rare due to online services.

Pretty neat device, seems very fragile though so if you're rough with your stuff get a good case. I'm able to hotspot with my phone and use this while traveling with very little interruptions. However I use 5g and my PS5 is connected via Ethernet. So do your research before purchasing

After seeing so many positive reviews and knowing how flawlessly my PS5s run, I thought the PlayStation Portal would be a no-brainer. My consoles are hardwired, so I expected a smooth experience—but unfortunately, I ran into significant lag that made even single-player offline games nearly unplayable.
To be fair, this may be a result of my internet service provider, but I tested alternative remote play solutions (like apps on my computer), and those worked without issue. Further I pay for higher speeds and I do not have this issue to other devices. When the Portal did work, I really enjoyed the experience—it has a lot of potential.
Ultimately, though, the inconsistent performance was too frustrating, and I ended up returning it. I genuinely hope future updates or hardware iterations resolve these issues, because the concept is great.
