I knew what i was buying when i bought it, so my disappointment is really in myself. It is BEAUTIFUL and has a great screen, great controls, feels good in the hands, but just being a streaming device SUX!!! Playing your PS5 in your own house with the Portal works amazing, playing in a hotel room is sketchy at best, pick your game appropriately. Network heavy games, from the portal over a hotel network to your machine at home, etc etc, is going to lag, single player games are still going to lag but you won't miss much. If you are getting this for travel, rethink it. If you are getting this for connections between 2 homes, it should be ok.

Great screen, amazing image quality and little lag when connection is solid. Reccomend plugging PS5 directly into your router via ethernet for best connection.

For those whining about this…I’m not sure it’s fair to judge this item based in what it DOESN’T do…I’m not sure that’s the point of a customer review. If i wanted a detailed level of analysis on what this product should or could be, I’d look up ign or cnet lol. With that said, this product does exactly what’s advertised. It’s a remote player for your ps5, best used around the house. It’s perfect for when my tv is being used or i want to get some gaming in while in bed or lounging elsewhere. The screen is beautiful and while yes, i have a Backbone, this works so seamlessly and automatically. The controller is solid and feels just loke a dualsense in your hand. Yes, you need a reliable internet connection that isn’t choppy lol. Trying to download or update something on your ps5 while using might also cause some lag. All in all, big ups to Sony and I recommend to all my fellow casual gamers that just don’t want to be stuck or restricted by their main tv’s. Hardcore gamers looking for a ps Vita replacement will be disappointed.

honestly really do enjoy the portal alot. the audio quality isnt the best & you do need good wifi in order to play it but i do recommend it for story based/single player games. i havent tried multiplayer games yet but if you do ply story based game i strongly recommend if you get the chance.

The PlayStation portal is a Great device. It allows you to play your PlayStation 5 without being tethered to the TV. Since I've had it that it's been my favorite way to play my PlayStation in a way. However, that comes at a cost sometimes. If the internet is not great then it suffers because it is a remote player, not a stand-alone console. If you're downloading something else while trying to stream at the same time, your game play suffers. However, when things are great with this device, things are really great. The visual quality is great. The gameplay feels like a PlayStation. 5. Dual sense in your hand. The screen puts out very well, so I think that if you were to buy it, knowing that this is not a Nintendo switch, where's a standalone device okay? If you're okay with that, then you should have no problems with this device because it is quite fine.

At it's core. This device is FANTASTIC for streaming PS5 games in(or out) of your home provided you have a sufficient wireless network and/or knowledge to improve it. That said, your streaming performance is based on that ALONE.
The device itself could use some NATIVE cloud streaming which would make it WAY more attractive for the $200 price point. Lack of Bluetooth is not a complete deal breaker for me personally but I can understand why others would have an issue with it.
Controller is best in class(obviously the dual-sense features are top notch) and trump all others configs/controllers on that alone and streaming has some minor hiccups here and there with regards to dropped frames(which seemingly are due to HDR and/or unplugging the HDMI cable as per reddit) but I am sure that knowing sony the device will be improved upon over time via firmware updates.
In short, temper expectations with this device and look for great PS5 game streaming and/or cloud streaming (in the future hopefully via firmware update) and forget any thoughts of doing anything on the device natively due to mid tier(Qualcomm) chipset.

I was hesitate about whether I should get the Portal, but after using it for a few weeks now I can say that I enjoy using it. It does give me the opportunity to play a few more indie games as I don't have decent internet for the more intensive games. I am also finding the streaming function of games to be great when I'm having a tough time connecting to my system
