Listing the cons first: - First and foremost, the most important thing, the Wi-Fi signal and input lag. You will always have some form of lag, no matter how good the Wi-Fi signal and your settings are. even though it’s very small, it is still there indeed. - To pick it back off the first one you cannot play competitive style games online and by that I mean, due to the input lag. Sure, it will work, but I don’t see portal players coming out on top. - even though the screen is a decent size, the The joy cons are considerably smaller than a PS5 controller giving you less surface area to grip your thumbs. The grip is smaller too. - The charging port, it’s integrated in the back of the screen and dented into the frame. It makes charging and unplugging with the supplied cable, not challenging, but not as easy. -you are unable to connect headsets, but the portal does work with the PS buds that came out recently. Now for the pros: - The first important pro for me was the amount of fun I had away from my console. Due to the first con, I was at home, but still had plenty of fun around the house. - It’s battery lasted a good 7 1/2 hours from a full charge. Brightness and volume were up so assuming it could last longer if those are taken into consideration. - My son dropped it from about 3 feet and I was surprised that it did not have any cracks or dents into the screen or frame. So it is somewhat durable. -it is in fact, fun using it with games that are single player, like God of war, and Spider-Man. In my opinion, and in this Review I give it Four stars and the reason for that is because the fun I had using this thing. If it wasn’t for that, it would be three stars because the portal is not needed by a true gamer where there is a lot to account for and this system has too many of those cons. But all in all, I still recommend it to those who are curious enough.

Portal is a great purchase if you want to still play in your house or if you have a lot of free time in another place that is not your house, the wifi only system is a bit of a bummer, but besides that, it is exactly what you want for mobile gaming.

    PlayStation Portal Remote Player review

PlayStation Portal review - updated w/speaker impressions and a very good reason you may want to consider getting one. I finally got to play with it for a few hours here. It is A REALLY good looking piece of equipment, first and foremost. It isn't ugly or as weird as you'd think it'll look. People are going to want to know what it is when they see it. The screen is nice and big and the colors on it really pop. I tested my phone's hotspot connection first because that's how I'll be playing at work, sometimes. It works fairly well on that. Was it perfect? No. But it did the job and didn't cut off on me one time. Even though the quality wasn't at its best the latency was super low on it still. It did tend to get to a pretty rough quality at times, but it wasn't bad or long enough to be worried about. I got through about 30 minutes of a match on 2K before I switched to my homes WiFi. I have a separate router from my main router but I tested the main one first. That one did exactly what Sony said it would. It worked nearly flawlessly and the picture quality never dipped! It was 1080p the entire time. I tested my network on my separate router and connected to 5ghz and it also connected really fast, even faster than my main one! It did give me a few little artefacts here and there but nothing crazy. It ran mostly smooth and I played a little bit of Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition with that and it looks fantastic. I took pictures from the capture button on it. Looked no different than how or would if you did it on the system itself. The battery life came charged with three of the four bars charged. I played it for about three hours nearly and it went down to one bar no signs of it having a low battery at that point. I would probably say it can last about a good 6-8 hours on a full charge based on that observation. I did turn down the dual sense features to make sure it let's the battery last longer. It's an ideal way to play PS5 in your home if your TV is occupied, you need to go to the bathroom but don't want to stop playing, or simply because you might not want to turn on your TV at night and just want a quick session. As for sound, it's more than serviceable, but not THE best speakers in the world. For me? I think they are loud enough to fill a room on full blast, and doesn't really give off that tinny sensation that you get from similar devices. It does what it's supposed to do though, it gets the job done and you won't really be complaining about it. It's really just a matter of convenience, optimization, and utilization. Your phone and tablet and other handheld consoles just cannot offer you a simplistic, yet seamless experience of having your PlayStation 5 AND dual sense controller with full support of it's features in your hands all on one display on ONE device. Overall, Sony has optimized this thing to give you a virtually lag free experience even outside of your home. You CANNOT get that with other devices. It's just not happening. I give it a 9/10!

For a while I didn't want a PlayStation Portal but then I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on one overall I can say it's a pretty cool device especially with the latest update that they gave us where you can stream PS5 games and don't have to have the actual console on. I will say that every once in awhile I do get a little bit of shutter when playing games but the quality of these games for it being only 1080p at 60 frames is really nice. The battery life is decent it seems I got a few hours before it required me to hook it up again. The actual design itself is beautiful and it's really cool looking. I would say for $200 it's not a bad purchase at all. Especially if sometimes you just don't want to sit down in a chair and be full blown on your TV you can just lay in your bed or sit on a couch plug in a pair of headphones and jam. I can't say whether or not I recommend this for everyone but those that want to do simply that sit on a couch and jam without having to sit in front of your TV this would be a great option and with the new PlayStation 5 streaming That's in beta form by the way so not all the games on PlayStation Plus are available right now but there's like a 120 it's worth the $200 price point I'm happy with my purchase.

People need to stop reveiwing products based on what they want them to do, and review them based on what they promise and or offer. This is a REMOTE PLAY handheld. Not a whole new handheld system, and if it was people would complain about paying over $500 and having to buy new games. The PS5 doesnt have bluetooth so why would the portal? It would cause latency anyway. If you have good internet speed you won’t have problems with lag at all. The system is very light and comfortable. I love that it has the same controller design as the PS5 controller. The screen is beautiful and large. And it’s CHEAP for $200. A controller is $70 on its own, so you’re paying an additonal $130 to play your games handheld. It does everything it claimed very well. This is the best way to remote play. Period.

Sometimes I love this thing sometimes I want to throw it across the room. This is not your old psp. The new streaming options are great. Do not recommend for games that require precise timing like 2k or call of duty.

I've had my Playstation portal for about 2 months now, and it is amazing with a few hiccups. The games look and run beautiful for the most part if you have a stable wifi connection but playing multi-player games is a bit awkward.

I purchased and open box playation portal. The device was in great condition. There was a big of food or something that looked like tomato sauce on one of the handles, but other than that no issues. I save almost $70 dollars by buying it open box.

Even tho this is not an OLED display it really give you a good quality. This screen is very bright, handheld is lightweight and easy to carry perfect to play on the go. 4 starts because sometimes just disconnects from PS5 for no reason which makes you go back and reconnect.

The PlayStation Portal is perfect if you want to play PS5 games away from your TV. The 8-inch screen looks sharp, and the built-in DualSense controls feel just like your console. Remote play works well with a strong Wi-Fi connection, and the new cloud streaming option is a nice bonus for PlayStation Plus Premium users.
