DO NOT BUY, FELL APART IN 11 MONTHS

I am writing this review to warn others about the quality of both these earbuds and that of Sony support. My wife bought these for me for my birthday in September 2023. I recently started noticing that the sound in my left ear bud, then only one I use, was getting quieter and then this weekend, when taking it out of the case, the cover for the speaker completely fell off and the speaker itself fell out of the earbud. I immediately contacted Sony support to see about submitting a warranty claim to have the earbud either repaired or replaced.
After explaining the situation and what happened, they determined, without even looking at them that it is physical damage and flat out refused to cover the earbud under warranty. After going back and forth with the support person and offering to send pictures they said they would escalate and someone would call me back the next business day.
There "national customer care" called me today and before even hearing anything the lady tells me the same thing the first person told me. She said they determined this because they have never had a report of the speaker cover falling off and therefore it's not possible for it to happen without it being caused my physical damage. Despite telling them that I have never dropped the earbud and the only place it has been is in the case or in my ear, they refused to accept any other logic besides their own, still without even offering to have me ship the earbud into them for them to inspect it for any physical damage. I explained to the woman, if you look really closely you can see it is just a thin strip of adhesive that holds this piece on to the earbud so for it to fail is extremely plausible. Laughably the woman told me that, "While it will not change our decision I could send them pictures for their engineering team to review." Ultimately they refused to even look at them under warranty despite it probably costing them pennies to replace the adhesive.
I am severely disappointed in both the quality of these earbuds and mostly the quality of Sony support and their warranty. I will also never believe in any warranty that Sony promises for any of their products ever again and I would caution anyone else considering their products to expect to not have any warranty coverage or have to fight for the warranty coverage. At this point I now have a $200 pair of earbuds that I can only use the right one with and, as for someone who is deaf in their right ear, these earbuds are essentially completely useless to me.
Will be going back to my JVC Nearphones which are several years old at this point, were cheaper and when I had a problem with one charging, they actually honored their warranty and sent me a new pair.

This is a good product. I wanted it to work so bad. Alas did not fit my ears and had to return. It fit well in the left one, but kept falling off the right. The attempt to push it back in hung up many a calls.
This is the only good product in the market that will make you feel like you are not wearing toilet plungers in your ears. I'll give it that. Would love to see this product evolve.aybe I'll buy the second gen.
Could never test out how long the battery lasts, coz I could not keep these in the ear for that long because it kept hurting the ears that much.
This is by no means a product that claims to be the best in the class sound or whatever. but the sound was good crisp clear. On the highest volume, a person w feet away to listen to the song.

Hi Patsy,
While we're glad you like the open-ring design and amazing audio, we regret to hear if an earache occurs when putting on our WF-L900 LinkBuds and they did not fit you well causing them to fall out. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• If you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different. • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. • If you wear the headset for a long time, your ears may start hurting. Use the headset while taking breaks periodically.
It's unfortunate that the unit had to be returned. We hope that you will shop Sony again in the future. Thanks again for sharing your feedback.
Regards, Jess

The sound terrificaly clear! However because of the open ear design, there is no bass whatsoever. I got these for the gym and running but I prefer great sound for my music so I returned them. If you are looking for great podcast earbuds I highly recommend them.

Hi Brian,
We regret to hear if you find the LinkBuds sound quality poor and it hasn't performed to your standards. Allow us to help you and turn your experience around. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned.
You can also make few adjustments to your headphones settings to suit your needs. We recommended that you've downloaded the Sony Headphones Connect app. This will give you more control over your headphones and their performance.
We are sorry to hear that the headphones had to be returned. We hope that you will shop Sony again in the future. Thanks again for sharing your feedback.

I have had plenty of wireless earbuds and these deliver the sound that I'm looking for. The only issue I have with them is the lack of bass, but music is still crisp and accurate and I still get the ability of being aware of my surroundings without it sounding artificial or enhanced. They have excellent battery life and charge fast. I honestly have no serious complaints.

I got these and enjoyed the open ear concept, and the sound was great. However, even after changing the different ear pieces to get the best fit, there wasnt one that would hold long enough to actually be useful. It could stay in, but if I started talking or chewed gum, it would immediately start to shift and then come out.

Hi MDumont,
While we're glad that you appreciate the unique open-ring design, we regret to hear if they tend to move in your ears and did not fit you well causing them to fall out. We’d love to help you troubleshoot your problem to make sure your LinkBuds is great. The LinkBuds may also fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. • Select a different size fitting supporter and align the protruding part of the LinkBud with the cutout on the fitting supporter. Make sure to insert the fitting supporter completely. • After attaching the fitting supporter, check that there is no movement on the LinkBuds. (Shake your head back and forth.) Note: If they fall off or move in your ears when you shake your head, select a different size. The best fitting supporter may be different for each ear.

These are ok. I feel like they tear through the battery life and the case only charges them 1.5 times. They also DO NOT stay in my ears. Especially if I’m eating food and eating food also pauses and starts songs. And today I was brushing my teeth and it fell out of my ear and went straight down the drain. It’s gone. So now I have one ear bud and the case. Great.
I think they need to redesign them to have a bit of a conical shape with an angled hole. Irritating that they fall out so easily. None of the different sized ear pieces are nearly firm or large enough for my ears , my sons ears, or my buddies ears. Must be made for smaller ears.

Absolutely amazing. Doesn’t hurt when wearing, there is no insert into your ear. Sound quality is amazing especially with the bass. I can still hear the world around me as well as my music. Been using it since August and use it daily at my work. It holds a charge pretty decent. And the case charges fairly quick. There is a downside if you have alot of ear wax development. It tends to stick to the open center hold area of the buds. They seem pretty durable. I highly recommend using this if you like to have quality sound and the ability to hear your surroundings. Much better than the other devices like bone conduction.

They are great headphones but in my opinion, depending on your ears they might be very awkward, given the adjustable silicone to fit your ears. I still had trouble. Hi Wichhart98,
We regret to hear the headphones doesn't work or disconnect when putting one side back in the charging case. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience. They come with different sizes of fitting supporters. We highly recommend choosing the right size of supporters according to the size of your ears. For more details, visit this page: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000456408.html
Depending on the assignment of the touch sensors and/or the Voice Assistant setting, you may only be able to use one unit of the headset. The following issues may occur due to specific settings in the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
• There is no sound when using only one earbud (headphones). • The headphones disconnect when putting one side back in the charging case. • The Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa™ feature doesn't work when using only one earbud. • The Touch Sensor Control doesn't work when using only one earbud.
To resolve the issue, check that the touch sensors are setup up in the Sony | Headphones Connect app to support the use of one earbud at a time.
Note: When the Service Link feature is turned on in the Sony | Headphones Connect app, only the Right side can be used alone. You can't use only the Left side by itself
Refer to the following links below and check the setting in the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app.
For optimum performance, please make sure that your headphones are running on the latest firmware version. Feel free to test them again once done with our suggestions. https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/downloads

I absolutely love these earbuds. I can wear them and hear everything around me. They don't insert into the ear canal, so they are the most comfortable buds I've ever used. The sound is also pretty good, given the open bud design. The biggest grip is the battery life. It's just not good. a couple hours of talk time and that's it. They could have benefited from just a slightly larger bulb for a good jump in battery life. Sadly, these may be the only time we see a bud like this. The new version is just a regular bud, same as the rest. If they ever release another, I will be excited to buy it.

Hi RuneRavenX,
We're glad you like the incredible audio quality, open-ring design, and you can stay authentically connected to everyday life while listening to music, taking calls, gaming, and more, all with dynamic sound. We're sorry to know if the available operating time is short or the battery power does not last long. We recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. If you set the following functions, the available operating time of the battery becomes short.
• Equalizer • DSEE • Speak-to-Chat • Function to launch the voice assist function by your voice • Service Link • Sound quality mode during Bluetooth playback: Priority on sound quality
If you run the above settings at the same time, the available operating time of the battery becomes even shorter. Note: Be sure to store the headphones in the charging case after use. If the headphones are placed in a pocket or bag, they may recognize that they are being worn and turn on by mistake.

These things are awesome. They are intended for being an earbud that you wear all day. Other reviews that say the fit is weird or uncomfortable is fair and will be different per user, but the high fidelity reviews are stupid. Thats like saying youre mad that your Kia isnt as fast as a Lambo, just dumb. These are intended for being able to listen to music at any time of the day and still carry out conversarions easily. Had these in during a school lecture, heard everything fine and passed the time. It still does seem like a Beta product, but if you like the concept like I do and you rwad this far, then I would honesrly recommend you get them and just make sure you try at a good fit with the other rings.

After spending time with the Link Buds, I now realize that these buds are just not worth Sony's asking price of 179.99+. I would price these at around 70-100 USD. Battery life on these is just way too short at 5.5 hours according to Sony's best-case scenario, meaning volume stays below 50% and the buds' extra features are turned off. Doing that will defeat the purpose of wearing these. When used with volume above 50% which is mostly a necessity given the openness of the earbuds and all features turned on, you're looking at a maximum of 2-3 hours! So, for something touted as all day wear buds, I spent most of my time minimizing usage and turning off features because of the extremely short battery life. The Sony Link buds also lack features common for earbuds in this price range like wireless charging and multi point connection, etc. The Link buds are also very cheaply made, more so the case. The one redeeming factor of the Link buds is call quality! The call quality is some of the best in the business. The Sony Link buds would have been ideal for those who work in a relatively quiet work environment who maybe do say conference calling, etc. but also needs to be aware of their surroundings. Unfortunately, the battery life on these is so abysmal the Sony Link buds are not even ideal for that. I do see potential for future iterations, but Sony needs to do some tweaking.

Hi Eb0ny1,
Thank you for your review.
While we are pleased you are satisfied with the outstanding call quality feature of our WF-L900 LinkBuds, we are so sorry if its available operating time did not live up to your expectations. We are also sorry if some features like the wireless charging and multipoint connection are not available to these LinkBuds. Your feedback with the price and build quality are greatly appreciated.
For the battery life, the available operating times of the headset with the battery fully charged are as follows: • Bluetooth connection Music playback time (AAC): Max. 5.5 hours Music playback time (SBC): Max. 5 hours • About 90 minutes of music playback is possible after 10 minutes charging. • If you set the following functions, the available operating time of the battery becomes shorter than the ones described above. - DSEE™ - Equalizer - Speak-to-Chat - Function to launch the voice assist function by your voice - Service Link - Adaptive Volume Control
Notes: • If you run the above settings at the same time, the available operating time of the battery becomes even shorter. • Depending on the settings for the headset functions and usage conditions, the speed of energy consumption for the rechargeable battery may vary between the left and right units. However, this is not a malfunction. • When you have finished using the headset, be sure to set the headset in the charging case. If the headset is placed in the pockets, etc., the headset recognizes that the headset is worn, and it may turn on by mistake. • Be sure to close the lid of the charging case to prevent the battery of the charging case from being consumed. • When talking on the phone, the available operating time of the battery is shorter than when playing music.

Sony, the has been king of technology trying desperately to stay relevant in the age of quality affordable electronics.
I had been looking at these for a few weeks and thought they looked intriguing and watched reviews online and after only 5 hours of owning these I came to 1 conclusion, the reviewers were obviously paid and never actually used them.
The upsides,
-the gimmicky hole allows you to hear things around you while listening to music of making a phone call.
-tapping on your cheek to pause music or answer calls is weird but kind of fun purely because nobody else has that
The Downsides,
-it's one size fits all/a small handful of people.
-The tiny silicone loop does NOT hold them in your ear securely, didnt mater which size I tried they just fell out within a few minutes.
-The projected 5.5 hour battery life translated to barely over 3 hours when listening to music at low volumes.
-The sound quality is literally better on a pair of $20 ear buds I have from Plantronics. The highs are super tinny, the mids are almost non existent and the bass just flat out doesn't exist, period!
-The disk area that the sound is obviously pumped through is made out of a hard plastic and is only 1 size, there is NO give so if your ear is not that 1 extremely specific size they hurt, a LOT, to much that it is physically painful for them to be worn longer then a few minutes so I guess it's a good thing that the silicone loop fails at keeping them secure.
-And for the price the charge case doesn't have wireless charging?
Seriously, $20 and even $40 headphones are better then these. Asking $200 for these is ludicrous and borderline insane. Pretty much the only thing that gives these any value is the Sony logo on them.
Owned for 1 day and went back to my Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 earbuds, they are sizeable, comfortable, stay put, last around 8 hours on 1 charge outside of the case, the case can recharge them about 10 times before needing to recharge, the case has wireless charging and the sound is better than pretty much everything out there and they cost about $50. You're welcome.

I love these wireless headphones. One disclaimer, you need to take time to adjust them to your ear and familiarize yourself a little bit how to fit them.
If you want to disappear into your own bubble, and listen to your favorite music, those headphones are not for you.
But if you want to listen to music in good quality, hear a podcast or make a phone, call and also be able to know what’s happening around you, these headphones do as a trick. It’s almost like listening to music from speakers, and be able to follow the conversation next to you.
I would recommend this to a friend
