Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the PlayStation Vita's portability, praising its convenience for gaming on the go. The console's graphics and remote play capabilities with PS4 and PS3 are also well-received. While some users appreciate its price, battery life, controls, and lighter weight compared to the original model, the limited storage space is seen as a drawback.

    Nice upgrade

The only reasons I bought this was because it has better graphic that my phone, it has physical buttons, has a bigger screen and it was an upgrade to the old PSP 2000. It is an expensive buy when you figure in $170 plus tax, the memory card (I got 32 gb $80) plus the cost of games. my kids use it to waste time on trips or when there is nothing to do. I wouldn't recommend this because it is expensive overall. You'd be better off buying a full console. However, if you got the money and time to waste. It's a good buy when compared to a phone.

After owning a PSP way back when and also an owner of every iteration of the Nintendo DS/3DS systems, I've been underwhelmed with the state of graphics capabilities when it comes to mobile systems. I couldn't have been more surprised with the build quality and capabilities of the PlayStation Vita. Between its ability to stand up so well on its own and also interface with the PS4's remote play functions, I really don't ever want to leave the house...but now I can because I can just take this thing with me! It's ridiculous. Don't think twice...just buy it!

Get the Black Tie protection for 1-Year minimum

It was the PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS that I wanted to get for my 7 year old. I chose the PS Vita because of the selection of great games that even I find fun to play. I like the touch screen and it even has a touch pad on the back side. The cameras need perfect lighting to really take any kind of decent video or photo. The ability to play along with our existing PS3 sounded convenient and if we get a PS4 I've been told we can play games remotely as well. You'll have to buy a Sony memory card because only Sony's card will work. To top it off, the memory is about three times more than normal micro SD cards you would purchase for your other devices. I liked the graphics quality much more than the 3DS and my son tried a 3DS earlier and did not like the 3D feature. **The kicker to all of this is that I'm on my second PS Vita in only two months. The first PS Vita had major issues. It gave error messages after only a few days and wouldn't let me play my cartridge games. I had downloaded Minecraft and the Disney movie Tomorrowland. Both had constant problems and would not let me play. I tried over and over to uninstall/reinstall Minecraft. Tomorrowland (I paid like $20 through the Sony Store) would only play up to about 45 minutes and then would cut out and give me an error. I returned the unit back to BestBuy and exchanged for another unit. PURCHASE THE BLACK TIE PROTECTION FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR. You'll kick yourself if you don't and find out later that your PS Vita is a lemon. *** If this happens one more time, I'm returning it and getting an iPad instead for my son. Get it together Sony or stop charging so much for content!

    Really good gaming system

The PS Vita is a really nice gaming system and my son has it and is pretty happy with it so far. It's only been a day since we got it, so we didn't get that much games, but it seems like a nice system so far even with some of the games we downloaded. The only downsides to this so far for us are: 1. only comes with 1GB pre installed memory and 2. games + memory cards are expensive. The good parts are: 1. Didn't really notice that this isn't the one with the OLED screen; the LCD screen looks as good AND I've heard of an option to high-contrast the colors 2. Pretty FAST 3. Can get some games due to 1GB pre-installed memory 4. Expanding game collection for it 5. PS3/PS4 remote play and cross controller ("second screen" for PS4) (don't have a PS4 but on my PS3 we got Little Big Planet 2 and the cross-controller pack ($5.00) and it's a pretty good, lag-less feature)

Heard it said that to own the Vita is to love the Vita. Truer words have not been spoken. Despite the undeserved hate heaped upon it, it really is the best device for games and if you own one, you will understand. Power-wise it blows the doors off the 3DS, it's screen is as large as even the XL, it's touch screen is capacitive not resistive, it's twin sticks are much closer to a full scale console controller, and the rear touchpad along with accelerometers make the control method options simply amazing. It's browser is great, and with head-phones the sound is excellent, so it's great for internet videos and downloaded movies in addition to games. Add in remote-play and if you're part of the PlayStation eco-system, it's a no-brainer to get. Much has been said about the LCD - it's a great looking screen. The OLED may well have looked better, but the increase in battery life is worth the switch, especially when you factor in how thin and light it's been made. You actually have to hold one to wrap your head around it. Game-wise, there are plenty of excellent retail/cartridge games, and a massive amount of awesome download titles as well. On top of that, it will play all PSP and PS1 classic games on PSN. PS2 titles as well (I think). Then on top of that almost all PS4 games will remote-play to it too. And the games run the gamut of budget, concept and genre. There really is nothing lacking here. It could be even greater than it is. But that can only happen if people recognize how amazing this device is and get on board. But that would mean it would go from awesome, to mind-blowing. If you're a Sony or PlayStation fan, you need this. If you want games that don't have that Nintendo feel, you need this. If you want mobile games that do more than use swiping or sketchy frustrating touch controls, you need this.

    Amazing handheld with hidden cost

This handheld gives you a full gaming experience. The graphics are top notch, characters have voice actors instead of just scrolling text, and there are some stellar JRPGs made for it. Unfortunately this system suffered from making storage unreasonably expensive. Sony decided to go with proprietary memory cards for dependability for the device, this insures that the speed delivered by the storage media is consistent. Unfortunately that also means you will drop $40 or so on 16GB in a world where a microSD that size would likely cost less than $10. I think this in combination with competing with Nintendo and smart phones/tablets in the handheld market has lead to Sony having to abandon this neat little handheld. If you are a JRPG fan it is still definitely worth picking up!

I haven't used the PSP yet for much, but it has worked great so far for mobile gaming. I prefer to have controls like on this device as opposed to trying to drive everything from a smart phone screen (my other method for mobile gaming). I also like that I can play some games that are not available on the PS4 (which is the first Play Station I've bought yet).

I love the screen and the controls but the memory cards are way over priced and unless you love JRPG‘s, the game selection is rather limited. Also, I though my first vita was defective because the speakers were always crackling but the replacement unit has the same problem. Turn on sound shapes with the volume up and you will see that the speakers on the vita are terrible.

He's addicted to it, but at least his mom knows to limit game time to a few hours a day (he's 13). Anyway, the games on it look great, and the controls are actually fairly similar to that of a PlayStation controller. Pro tip: get a screen protector and a case.

I will say that I did not purchase a PSP Vita to play "Vita" games. It was simply and upgrade to my aging PSP to continue playing my older games as my PS3 had been retired to the guest bedroom for Bluray movie purposes. Being able to play most of the Final Fantasy series on the go is a big plus, and there are several new games that are interesting -- However I really only took the plunge to upgrade to continue playing some old classics and access the ability to craft items on FFXIV while watching football on Sundays.

This would be my second vita I've owned. First one I got rid of because of the horrid library, but this time around it has filled out quite nicely. For the lower-ish price tag it's not bad for the games out (I'm a fan of RPG's). To keep this short: -If you like obscure RPG or Action titles: yes -If you like sports or FPS: no -if you don't mind dishing out extra money (a lot extra) for Sony memory cards: yes

I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas and she absolutely loves it and I'm content as well. So far the product itself has no faults. My only complaint is it did NOT come with a memory card which renders it rather useless once received. I'm not sure if that's just how the product is sent out by default but it's very annoying.
