This is my first VR experience and overall I am satisfied with the purchase. The games that PlayStation currently offers, in my opinion, seem to be geared more or less towards children/pre-teens. But on that note, my children love to play with it. The headset has yet to make my kids or I motion sick and my kids will play for hours at a time. If you already own a Playstation 4 and have children, this is a great way for them to get into VR without having to buy a bunch of expensive equipment.

Based on the last 30 years of the gaming industry attempting to make VR work, I was very skeptical when the Oculus Rift was was announced. Then a few years later, Sony announced they would be making a cheaper headset more targeted toward the average consumer. Seeing as how the PS Vita was a total failure because Sony essentially murdered it from the start with a lack of support, the PSVR seemed to me to just be another quick cash grab. Boy was I wrong. I had demoed the Rift in the past and wasn't very impressed. Due to a lack of quality games, the space required for room tracking, and the fact that my fairly new $900 PC build barely met minimum specs (GTX 970), I forgot about the Rift/Vive and decided we're not quite there yet so I'll wait and see what things look like in the future. Cut to 2017 where Sony has released a slightly modified V2 headset with seemingly loving support for the system in it's first year after release. Skyrim and Doom were released, along with a fairly impressive backlog of highly rated games and experiences, so I decided it was time to see what this thing is all about. I already owned a PS4 Pro, but did not have any of the VR/Move accessories. The bundle with Skyrim, the camera, and two Move controllers was $450 and I just couldn't justify that cost. I decided there was no point in purchasing the system without all the peripherals because I'd be limiting my experience. Well, less than a week later, the same bundle went on sale for $350. This seemed like the right price point for everything included. I went ahead and picked up the bundle and got to work! Opening the box was a premium experience, and for nerdy tech guys like me, unboxing and setup is half the fun of getting a new toy. I was easily able to get everything plugged in and set up in less than 20 minutes and I purchased the Sony VR Worlds game for $7 during their holiday sale. From the first moment I appeared in the game world, I knew this was something special. While the resolution/clarity was noticeably lower quality than the competitors, the simplicity of the experience made it an easy trade-off. On the PC rigs, there is a lot of messing around with settings that makes the experience annoying, and detracts a lot from actually wanting to jump in and start playing (an issue that often happens with poorly optimized standard PC games too...even on big budget AAA titles. I'd still consider myself a PC gamer, but sometimes the convenience of popping a game into a console and chilling on the couch with no setup process/headache is just more enjoyable). It also tied me to my small office because that's where my PC lives. The PSVR setup is just so fluid and easy, and it integrates into your normal PS4 experience perfectly, so there is hardly any learning curve. At this time, I haven't even played Skyrim yet because I have not been able to stop buying and playing every short unique experience/game that is available. The headset is extremely comfortable, and it is very easy to forget where you are and what you're doing in the real world. The head and controller tracking usually works perfectly, and when it doesn't, it's usually because I'm sitting down or not in the same spot that I originally calibrated the camera for. At first this annoyed me, but once I learned my way around the menus and how I should tweak different settings, it is hardly even an inconvenience when I have to make small adjustments. While the Move controllers were previously almost useless, they really integrate seamlessly into VR. When playing shooting/sport games, it was easy to forget that I wasn't holding the actual guns or objects I was using in games like Rush of Blood or Carnival Games. On top of that, these controllers are something that many of us have used in the past and even for those who haven't, the control scheme closely mimics the standard PS controllers so it is intuitive and easy to use without looking or learning new controls. All in all, if you already own a PS4, the PSVR is a must-buy. I think it has become pretty clear lately that VR isn't going away so if you can have a premium setup for less than $350, I don't think there is any reason to say no if you're on the fence. I have so few complaints about the system that most are not even worth mentioning because they could be boiled down to personal preference. The only thing I wish it could do (and possibly will be able to do at some point in the future), is have a way to somehow link up your phone directly to the PS4 or headset, so that texting, phone calls, etc. could be displayed and interacted with within the VR world. Although this may not be a good thing because it's just one step closer to us all being permanently jacked into The Matrix! One final thought/tip - The initial setup inexplicably does not have you set up the eye distance on the headset. This can be found in the PS4 Device Settings for the VR Headset. I had slight peripheral vision blur at first, and found many helpful guides on YouTube that led me to this setting. After getting my eye-to-eye distance set, the blur was dramatically reduced and eased the small amount of strain I was feeling in the beginning.

I contemplated my VR options a great deal before ultimately deciding to purchase the PSVR Skyrim bundle. I was leaning toward, and had myself convinced, I would be buying a brand new beefy rig and a shiny new Vive or Rift HMD. But the lack of AAA+ VR content/games on Steam/VivePort or Oculus store and having to drop $2,000 on a PC plus HMD was a huge discouragement, when PSVR basically had everything I wanted for under $400. I originally bought Skyrim when it first debuted in 2011 but playing it on PSVR again, gives a brand new perspective to an old game, its almost like playing it for the first time. Yes, there is the dreaded screen-door effect that VR-haters love to complain about, but I don't even notice it due to being so immersed in game play. So far I have logged roughly 15-20 hours of game play with little stomach queasiness issues. PSVR was a breeze to set up, just follow the simple instructions and you'll be experiencing VR in minutes.

Picked this up for black friday for 350 durring black friday so it was def worth it but at full price of 450 it might depend on your tastes. The skyrim game i dabbled into was kinda a chore to play with the motion controllers since u had to teleport short distances to move which felt limiting but you could use the dual shock to make things more fluid but as soon as I started to move it made me initially a little motion sick but time takes care of that as you'll get more used to it but games like until dawn with the motion controllers were super fun. A lot of reviews I was curious about never mentioned this and as someone that wears glasses I always wanted to hear something about the comfort of it and I can say its pretty comfortable for the most part but it does get a little annoying as one of the parts just weighs on your nose a bit so it feel like something constantly sliding down your nose. Other than that, Id say its a good investment, its got a decent content log by now with more full games to come so at full price its not bad depending on what your tastes are but if you can find it on sale, def worth it no doubt.

Having an oculus rift, i really wasnt expecting much out of ps vr. I simply wanted it for the exclusive games. Got a great deal on skyrim bundle so decided to jump on it. While oculus is superior in almost every way, theres a couple things i think psvr does better: 1. Simply more comfortable and easier to put on for glasses wearers. Oculus is a HUGE pain when it comes to glasses. Psvr is great with glasses and the eye portion slides in and out. Great move Sony 2. Sound is honestly better. I hated the over ear headphones on pculus, added to sifficulty of putting on and being comfy. Psvr earbuds are perfect. 3. Set up. Its much easier setting up psvr than oculus 4. Ability to use ps4 regular while using headset as your screen. 5. Dont get hot using it. Oculus has a padded face border, this made it extremely hot to use for longer periods. Psvr doesnt really rest on your face, it sort of just floats there so air can circulate Those are the advantages of psvr. The main drawbacks to psvr are: 1. Graphics quality. Compared to oculus, its like playing on ps2 vs ps pro. Its noticeable and most games look pretty rough. 2. Motion controls. Move controllers are honestly awful. They work but lack of thumbsticks and 4 triggers make it huge downground from Oculus Touch controllers. Im honestly impressed by psvr. Game selection is solid, its very comfortable, and it just works. Quality isnt up there with oculus, but itll do if you cant afford a pc to run oculus

I have to say, I was a little skeptical at first about the whole "VR" thing, thinking it was just a gimmick and not very convincing...but that all changed once I put on the headset and popped in a game disc! HOLY COW!!! I was propelled into a world I have never experienced before! The objects around you are so lifelike you believe you can really touch it. You can actually "walk around" an object and see it in all of its 3D perspective and glory! I tried the LONDON HEIST demo that I downloaded for free with my Playstation Plus membership entitled PLAYSTATION VR DEMO DISC #1. I started the game up and WHOA...I was transported to a warehouse in an unknown location and I was actually popping in a clip into a gun and shooting various targets throughout the warehouse! It felt SO REAL!! Now, in this bundle, you receive the NEW VERSION 2 of the PSVR headset, which is definitely an UPGRADE from the First Gen model. There are LESS wires that you have to deal with coming off the headset (only ONE wire hangs down from the headset that attaches to the box!) and the earbuds are located within the headset itself and conveniently has a storage place to put them when not in use! I will say this...if you were waiting for VR to get pretty real....WAIT NO LONGER!! The time is NOW to get this bundle and experience true Virtual Reality the way it was intended to be experienced...in my opinion, you will NOT be disappointed!!!

I always assumed that VR was the next step for gaming/online, but It wasn't until I tried the PSVR that I know it is within our reach. Even though it isn't perfect, we will probably look back on the PSVR and see how the VR world took its baby steps. I have been playing RE7 and despite the blurriness on a regular ps4, the immersion feeling cannot be beat. I dreaded every bump and squeak in the house. The real world outside of the PSVR felt very far away. I look forward to playing through the entire game, the way it was meant to be played. I will also be upgrading to the PS4 Pro in the future and hopefully get to see the benefits of a more powerful system with the pro.

Ok, so I like a lot of people never really took VR seriously, never tried it, never cared. But wow, it may not be 100% there tech wise but it's close. This was an insane experience. Even with the low resolution, it really makes you feel immersed in the world. Resident Evil VII was an unbelievable experience that can't be explained without just doing it. I went from a non-believer to a believer. I can't wait to try all types of VR games because i'm sold. I will warn; Skyrim is just OK. The game obviously wasn't designed with VR in mind like Resident Evil was, and it shows. Resolution is bad, they didn't try hard to optimize the game. The controls are also kind of janky, they didn't even bother to optimize the interface for VR. Pretty sad, but typical of Bethesda. Had I known ahead of time I would of opted for the cheaper bundle because Skyrim isn't worth the money imo. Resident Evil is highly recommended. I have been playing the demos and Moss is also a must-have. Superhot as well! Reading reviews aren't going to sell you, you need to just do it. Until you experience it first hand you will never actually understand. BUY IT!

Love having the PS VR. Getting the bundle was a no brained when you compare the price to all the separate components. The only thing I can complain about really with this product is that the Skyrim VR game that comes with it is terrible. The movement is awkward and controls are terrible. The worst part is, that I assumed I was getting the new PS4 updated graphics in VR and what they have done is taken the PS3 graphics for Skyrim and made it into VR. At first I thought it was cool, but when you combine the poor controls and movement (bad enough on its own but it nauseated me as well) with the old graphics it was a disappointing experience. However, the demo disc that came with the bundle and some of the free download content on PlayStation Plus have me singing it’s praises. I would probably recommend getting a different bundled game included if you are interested. Some cool VR games are already out and I hope developers continue to put effort into VR games on PS VR and not just focus on Oculus-Rift.

I was impressed. The PSVR set has great head tracking using just the PS4 camera, and I was able to use and enjoy it without glasses (I'm farsighted and need reading glasses). The internal screen has a much lower resolution than an XB1/PS4 gamer is used to, but my understanding is that refresh rate takes precedence over image detail. Even with that minor complaint, I have thoroughly enjoyed playing through the Psychonauts VR game using this setup (zero motion sickness issues, but maybe I just got lucky), and I'm looking forward to trying other games available for this system.

I got this system for my son (10 years old) for Christmas and purchased it back during Black Friday week at $100 off the standard price. It was worth it to get the controllers, camera, head set and all the cords that were needed for a complete setup (not to mention a demo disc of games and Skyrim). My son got to try the Oculus Rift once last fall and he really wanted a VR system for Christmas. I knew the Rift was expensive and required a gaming computer to run it - so the discount on the PSVR was an incredible deal! Having never owned a game system outside of the Nintendo Game Cube, I wasn’t sure what to expect but after trying it for the first time, I have to say it’s awesome!!!!! It’s a whole new realm of entertainment! You literally spend the first few weeks “exploring” demo games; not necessarily playing them, but just walking around in them (looking up, down, behind you, around you, etc). There’s always something there in VR! Some reviews have commented about the lower resolution when looking through the goggles...true, it isn’t as sharp as the resolution on your TV but the coolness factor far outways the resolution! The demo disc and free games you can download through the PlayStation store provide plenty to do for the first month or so. There’s enough there to see if you prefer games that use the shock controllers or the motion sticks (for a full body VR experience, go with the motion sticks). Some games require that your whole body moves and walks around inside games while other games could be played in a seated position. You also need a fairly large clear floor space to get the full effect! There’s games you play that are first person and other’s where you’re looking down on the gam characters. Another tid-bit: I thought I would get nauscious playing this but I haven’t felt queasy yet (nor has my son). PlayStation did something to help take the motion sickness out of the experience. I know there are a few other VR systems on the market today but this one was the cheapest and most accessible as in it didn’t require me to purchase a $1200 gaming computer to run it. All you need is a PS4!

    PSVR - Beats Expectations!

I have been hesitant about VR systems as a whole. I have only once wandered into the world of VR, and that was to drop a measly +/- $100 on the Samsung Gear 360 to get a taste of VR. I have both a PS4 PRO and an Alienware Aur R6 so I was stuck deciding - if in fact I bought a VR headset - if in fact, I thought the fad would last, the FPs would get high enough for some unfortunate games to stop spinning and getting nauseous ( one of them being my video game playing fiancee) would it be to hook up to my amazing PC with its endless future of upgrades and possibilities (that seemed like the obvious - duh, yes answer)... Or would it be for the PSVR - for my PS4 PRO - a semi-upgraded PS4 (half amazing/half disappointment) where I was way more at the whim of a multitude of software and hardware manufacturers and stuck with Sony's VR guidelines. That being said - the catalyst of me purchasing the PSVR in the first place was the amazing sale that just went on / is currently going on that allowed me to buy the PSVR w/ camera and joysticks for $100 off with Elder Scrolls (I could have also gone the Doom route but missed out on the wands which I knew I would want and need). So - yes, at first, my good 'ole American capitalistic tendencies (of a younger man) made me make an almost compulsive decision to go ahead and strike while the iron was hot. I figured if the VR came out with a new version from Sony soon it would probably only be that the headset was wireless (as I heard from some rumor mills and Gamestop employees anyway). Now, that I have had a few days to actually play the PSVR I can positively say that outside of the sale that pulled me into Sony's world of VR over anyone else's was how amazingly immersive their VR is. Compared to every other VR I have read about, seen played, watched videos of, read reviews of, etc... the PS VR experience makes you feel IMMERSED 100%. Take, for instance, Inpatient - the first game I played - AND DO NOT RECOMMEND... I only bought it because I thought it would be kind of a cheap thrill/laugh after waisting my time on Until Dawn last year (the same makers) and that it would be an easy tutorial into VR by making small choices and the butterfly effect, etc... like in Until Dawn... unforunately Inpatient lost anything making it fun - and as far as I can tell (where I am right now, which is WAY too far for big changes to take place) I have spent the better end of my time hooked up to my PS VR walking AS SLOWLY as possible, barely able to hear the NPCs, and barely able to see them as the game designers thought that the color black they should use for shadows and hightened intrique was in fact a color that made it seem as if the PSVR was relying on a low-par junky color schematic. Anyway, I digress, don't get Inpatient (going to return it now)... but what I did learn, and what I hope to see when I replay Resident Evil 7 Biohazard in VR is that PlayStation has made VR the most fulfilling. I have read that when it comes to horror games and PS VR (something I am very interested in) they can become almost TOO IMMERSIVE, TOO SCARY. When you have that headset really strapped over your head and the wands in your hands - and the earphones in your ears (ALTHOUGH SPRING FOR ANYONE BUT THE GENERICS THAT COME WITH IT - THEY ARE HORRENDOUS, I FELT LIKE I HAD GONE DEAF) - you really walk the rope between real world and gaming world. All in all the PSVR is an amazing product and I'm so happy I picked it up when I did and I can' t wait for more games and more accessories to come out for it as well. One last gripe, because what would this review be without one last gripe - the camera, which is necessary... it worries me... remember how the government was caught (officially) spying using Microsoft's Kinetic and I'm pretty sure PlayStation's camera was also being used... so if you do buy the system make sure to turn it all the way off when your done (or unplug the camera) - no idle rest mode for you anymore! Well, I hope you enjoy - this was my first review - and I know, all over the place (it is almost 3 am here and - to be honest, I only filled this out because I saw I would be rewarded a minuscule amount of Best Buy points... but I would love to write more - if the price is right... and I promise, I can do so with proper sentence structure and such :) Enjoy PSVR fans!

Great experience with our new purchase! Me And my fiancé are big elder scrolls fanatics and when this came out, we knew that it was a MUST buy item. Upon the first use we have been totally and completely hooked on virtual reality and it is now hard to go back to play the regular Skyrim game. We highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Skyrim. The game is so detailed, you can almost touch it!! Get up close and personal to every aspect of the game and feel like you have been transported to Tamriel itself, this game is amazing and you won't be sorry sorry!! Buying the bundle was a great perk as well; not only do you get an awesome game but the VR headset opens your options up to hundreds of other gaming options!! It's really a nice refresh on an old game and VR has been a dream of mine since before they were a thing!! I recommend this game and bundle to everyone who asks!! I was so happy to see the discounts on the PSVR over the holidays ($100 off the bundle price making it $349). I simply couldn't justify the more expensive price but the reduction made it too tempting to pass up. This really is a unique experience and when it hits it right a game can be so immersive you can forget all the small grumbling some other users bring up. Sure there is the 'screen door ' effect noticeable at times, sure the headset can feel cumbersome at times and your eyes can get tired from being in a virtual world after a while BUT you simply can't deny this is one impressive step towards mainstream virtual reality gaming. There's already a ton of games many of which can be found on sale and more, and if you have a ps+ account they've been giving away dress psvr games each month for the past 3 months so there's no shortage of games to play. I've been very happy with the whole setup.

I was hesitant at first to make the plunge but was completely astounded with how amazing it was. I was completely immersed in the world of Skyrim when the dragon appeared I almost peed myself it was huge and was breathing fire at me. I know no one else will say this but gaming is not the only the only thing you can do on the psvr. It not only puts gaming on a new level but also adult videos as well. Fparents getting this for your children. Don't be offset by this you can completely control what they can and can't do and how much game play time they are allowed per day through parental settings. Also you can control what sights they can and can't visit.
