Bought this for a friend and came back and bought another for myself, this thing has really loud speakers that dont sound fuzzy at loud volume, was blows away at how loud it can go and battery is crazy good. Being water resistant is also a bonus by the pool.

Bought to use in my Ford Ranger cab with my Android LG phone. I'm using the bluetooth to cast my music & podcasts to the speaker. It is working perfectly. Speaker sits on the hump next to the stick shift. My rubber flooring along with rubber feet of the device assures it sits securely. Sound fills the cab nicely. Impressed with the weight of the speaker. Has a heavy, quality feel unlike some others I've had my hands on. My truck stereo is AM/FM with no CD player or Auxiliary input. This speaker / phone setup works nicely for listening to my personal choices while driving. Also, was able to pick it up on sale ($69.99) and so I'm very happy with the value! Obviously, the speaker's portability gives me many more options outside of the truck... by the pool, at the beach, with my laptop, etc.... so the versatility is a big plus. I'm very happy with the purchase.

The sound quality is amazing. The volume level is impressive as well! Love that it is portable and you do not need to have it plugged in at all times. The water resistance will also come in handy once it is warmer to bring to the beach!

I noticed that these speakers have gone on sale (again) this week, so I'm trying to post this review in a "timely" manner for those of you who are still "shopping out" your portable Bluetooth speaker purchase. ... In my humble opinion, even at the "regular" Best Buy price, these speakers still really merit consideration when you compare them to the other two most popular brands with speaker "pairing" capabilities. Okay, here's what I know about the Sony SRS-XB2 speakers after having owned and used them for nearly four months now. : 1. Truly incredible sound performance as "stand-alone" units, AND ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE, deep (REALLY) AND rich (REALLY) stereo sound when "paired" together and "balanced" to your music and your environment. ... I AM SO GLAD I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE!!! - When these speakers are "paired" using their built-in Bluetooth communications technology (Speaker Add Function - double mode, stereo mode), the stereo sound you will receive will very nearly match most other compact, battery-powered Bluetooth speakers costing hundreds of dollars more when bought in pairs. - NOTE: You really should use a "player" (software) that has a really effective graphic equalizer function, as well as, some type of noise cancellation processing to get the best sound out of these speakers, especially if you are going to use the "Extra Bass" button/feature of these speakers. ... You will probably want to take some of the bass response levels down so as not to overpower the mid-range and higher pitched sounds. - NOTE: I've always thought that Sony's built-in "Extra ("Mega", etc.) Bass" sound processing software has always been too extremely preferential to the bass sound ranges at the expense of the mid and higher range sounds. ... If it can be turned off, I almost always do, even when listening to the most "bass-y" hip-hop, rap, and dance club music. FIRST TIME SET-UP & SOUND ADJUSTMENT TESTING SUGGESTIONS : The first time you set up one (or two) of these speakers, DO IT WITH the best, cleanest, highest fidelity recording that you have available. A recording that you know really well AND have heard on home sound systems, AS WELL AS through GOOD over-the-ear headphones. - One of my best examples (and one of the first recordings I used for "set-up" testing) is: Nirvana - "MTV Unplugged in New York", because it's the kind of live, digital recording that is SO clear that you can hear the guitar pick's flexing noises as they hit the strings, one of my personal favorite hallmarks of a truly great live recording (along with bass drum pedal hinge noises). 2. REALLY GOOD BATTERY PLAY-TIME so far. - Follow the instructions and charge the speaker(s) right-out-of-the-box! - NO MORE THAN 4 HOURS EVER. - The charging indicator light should always shut off in 2 to 3 hours of charging. - I've been giving my speakers a full (maximum) 4 hour charge AFTER fully discharging them, and I plan on giving them at least 10 FULL charge/discharge cycles before I ever "short-charge" them "on-the-fly". - My experience has been that the least "full-charge" play-time that you can get out of one of these speakers is somewhere between 13 to 16 hours. - I got over 19 hours of play-time out of the first charge on one speaker and over 17 hours on the second one. ... NOTE: I haven't tried playing them continuously from fully charged to fully discharged, yet (playing them 1 to 3 CDs at a time and then letting them sit for several hours or even days may allow for some battery charge "recovery", thus extending play-time). ... AND, I'm not playing them at ear-splitting volume levels. - They sound great when played just loud enough to fill the space in which you are using them. = YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY depending on: your charging discipline, volume level usage and other environmental factors like heat and humidity, etc., etc., etc. 3. The solid and sensible construction of these speakers, says to me, that they will, with proper care and disciplined charging practices, last for decades to come. This IS, truly, one of the greatest "hallmark" attributes of ALL Sony products: Their long-term durability results from thoroughly intelligent and very well thought out engineering, and superior build-quality using high-quality materials. ... I'm NOT trying to put Sony "over" like I have anything to gain from it, because I don't. ... ALL I KNOW IS: I have never had a Sony product that DID NOT last (and deliver consistently superior performance) for less than 2 to three decades. It's hard to go wrong buying a Sony product that you intend to keep for at least 5 to 15 years, that's what makes their (generally) "premium" prices much easier to swallow in the long run. MY GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT REGARDING THESE SPEAKERS IS ... Very simply, as soon as you plug ANY device into the back of the speaker using the 3.5 mm stereo input receptacle, YOU LOSE THE ABILITY TO PAIR THESE SPEAKERS. ... The Bluetooth signal transmitted from the speaker that enables the "pairing" with another SRS-XB2 speaker WILL CUT OUT COMPLETELY. (--> Go to the Sony products support website to find the following (much more complete than the single page supplied in the box with speaker): "SONY Help Guide - Personal Audio System SRS-XB2" (Doc - "Help_4587625112"): P. 54, "If a portable audio device, etc. is connected to the AUDIO IN jack, the speaker automatically switches to AUDIO IN mode, and the Speaker Add function is terminated." <--) ... YOU MUST HAVE A DEVICE THAT SENDS A BLUETOOTH SIGNAL TO ONE SPEAKER IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO PAIR BOTH SPEAKERS USING THEIR BLUETOOTH "DOUBLING" FEATURES. ... AAaaarrrgghhh! I'm now stuck with ONLY being able to use my laptop, tablet or 2-in-1 if I want to use both my speakers out by the pool when I already have a non-Bluetooth MP3 player loaded with some 8,000 songs. I guess I will have to break down and get a "smart" phone OR an 8GB, Bluetooth MP3 player with Micro SD capability. ... Fortunately, there are at least 3 Sony (no Apples for me, please) models that will "fill the bill", BUT man are they "pricey"!

this speaker sounded better than expected. the only trouble I had with it was that it was not charging after a couple use, so I had to exchange it for another one. despite the glitch, I love the sound and the extra bass it offered, which you can turn on or off. otherwise, it is lightweight and portable. would no doubt buy it again.

Very impressive sound. It gets quite loud, and has solid bass. It holds a charge really well. I am very happy with this. I've purchased other BT speakers before, but think this is best overall combination of size, sound and price.

This is an excellent speaker that was engineered perfectly for its intended purpose: -small and solid design that is easy to carry around -excellent sound with very clear bass and treble tones, and an extra bass button for even more bass, if needed -it has it's own volume controls, so that you don't have to be going back to the phone to adjust the volume -only critique: the charge wire is too short

I looooove my speaker! I got it in the bright orange/red color. My dad gave me a Best Buy gift card for Christmas and I knew I wanted a Bluetooth speaker so I browsed and weighed my options. I've purchased many Sony items over the years so I felt comfortable with the speaker and was in love with the After Christmas sale price! It carries so much sound for such a small speaker! It's fun and compact also. They're so colorful and I plan on buying the other two colors available!

I bought a top of the line Sony tablet with extra speakers but cannot hear my audio books while driving with either windows down or air on. This speaker so easy to hook up, great weight and size, and it has optional power boost! The sound is full snd rich now, and I can even hear from one room to another. Far surpassed my expectations! Arrived very soon after placing order. Cure for my disabling anxiety attacks driving! plan to take camping, to the beach, while gardening. Everywhere I go! Battery life seems good and I use it for many hours at a time. One of my most rewarding purchases ever! No need for the geek squad at present, but reassuring to have for only $11

This speaker has great sounding bass and very clean crisp sound, the charge last for a good long time, I would recommend this speaker to any one who wants something that will fit anywhere you go, I think this is a great value

Amazing sound and portable and it is a great price

This is an excellent Bluetooth speaker from Sony. I was going to get either the Bose or the Beatz pill but they're both over $100. Normally, this Bluetooth speaker is $99.99 but I bought it on sale for $79.99. I wanted something that was loud enough so that I could hear the music/radio while I was taking a shower & this is it. I love this speaker, it has extra bass & it's very loud.

The speaker is very portable, has great battery, amazing sound and is incredibly loud for the size. Its great for the camping trips, small get togethers, quick home workout and more.

Not only was this portable speaker a great value, it has really good sound quality, bluetooth compatability, and is nice and compact to take anywhere. The battery life is decent at 12 hours too.

Very pleased with the sound quality and size, weight of this wireless speaker. Battery life is good as well. Very useful for travelling light.

I have had a lot of Bluetooth speakers. I bought this one for my daughter, and it is a very good quality speaker for the price range. The bass sounds are good, and it is just a great overall speaker. She uses it with her iPod, and the Bluetooth connectivity is always perfect.

I had a problem that I was trying to solve. I wanted music in my bedroom and my bathroom. I had an old speaker that required batteries, but I had to plug it into my cellphone headphone jack. It burned through batteries really quickly and was not very loud. This speaker is great!!! It is very loud annnnnnnnd it has plenty of bass annnnnnnd it is portable because it does run on a battery..... aaaaaaannnnnd this is where it is awesome.... You can plug it up as well!!!!!! The thing that is important for you to note is that Sony makes multiple speakers... You want the one with the extra bass... In either case, goood luck on your purchase....

I've been wanting a beats pill for the longest time. I saw this one on sale on black Friday for a price I couldn't resist. It's exactly what I've been needing. It's connects real easily, battery lasts a while and it has good sound with an extra bass feature. It's not a beats pill but it gets the job done and as a plus I didn't have to break the bank. The only con is theres no play/pause or forward/rewind button which I didn't realize until I after I bought it. It gets annoying sometime when you're not near your device to change the song or play something different but I've learned to work around it. I 100% recommend this product!

We purchased two since they can link to one another which is really nice. Great sound quality, extra bass feature and easy to use. Price was reasonable for the quality. Only wish you were able to control the device from the speaker (ex- skip a song).

I purchased many of the top rated speakers out there...jbl charge,Harmon Kardon studio onyx, and mini onyx as well, klipsch cig, jawbone mini jambox etc. etc., all of them are great in ther own way. But this little baby is the clearest and cleanest sounding of them all and yet it still has a decent amount of bass. For its size it truly is a great little speaker and it can go loud as well,so if your looking for a great mini speaker this is it. I purchased it for $69.99 on sale, I had also purchased the XB-3 as well but found it to have to much of a muffled sound. This is a better balanced sound by far over the XB-3.
